  • I'm stunned and amazed that this clip has passed 100K views. I realize it's no 'Charlie Bit My Finger' but it says something that a 20+ year old clip of this amazing man's interpretation of this song has been seen by so many. I'm thrilled, grateful and amazed. PLEASE, keep passing it on! Blessings! Chance

  • i had the pleasure to work with him,in the Dreamkeeper movie, such a beautiful, humble, beautiful person.

  • I feel really happy when I listen to this song.. I have great great respect for the native people! R I P Red Crow you will never be forgotten!!

  • Ojala existieran más personas como tú,!!!

  • WE are all a part of nature, but we are NOT the most important part ~Russell Means

  • @BETTERthenUare We also need a fire to keep us warm but too much fire will burn civilization down. If there isn't enough water, the fire won't be put out and will rage without prejudice.

  • excellent song,excellent lyric.from Turkey...

  • Sad that Red Crow no longer walks among us in the flesh...but hey Floyd! Can you feel it? The Spirit is rising and "quickening" is underway.

  • absolute class

  • Who is the guy with the microphone at the end? I like that gy, remember him from way back...

  • @ppc1989ark LaVar Burton: Georgi from Star Trek

  • Floyd Red Crow Westerman - you will always be in our hearts.

Thank you for all you have done for your people.

  • Very nice video, but I just have to add I think the name of the song is "They Killed Him."

  • @originalfunkyfry You are quite correct...it is a Kris Kristopherson song that many have covered, including Dylan.

  • peace and rest to our brother on his journey home. He'll be missed!

  • @Bra23we12 I think you could have found a way to express that without disrespecting the man by referring to him as 'a knob'. While I agree that nature does not factor politics or human suffering, there's something to be said for the fact that, as far as we know, no other species that's ever lived on this planet has had the capability, starting with our opposable thumbs, or, ending with our frontal lobes, the will to destroy it. I find it hard to think of war or nuclear weapons as 'natural'.

  • @cmunik8r

You're right. It was disrespectful and I regret the remark.

Still, despite mankinds extraordinary ability to impose suffering both on itself and the rest of the living world, it remains a product of natures process. The idea that man stands outside nature at a distance determined by his behaviour, and therefore that some ways of living are more natural than others, is daft.

We are ALL part of nature.

  • @Bra23we12

I appreciate you owning your comments about Floyd. I think I'll leave it at that.

  • @Bra23we12 Yes,we are all 'part' of nature but not all of us understand what that means.Your way of thinking is only an excuse to do as you please without taking responsibility for your actions. What some men call their "nature" is nothing more than the cultural environment they grew up in. If you had grown up knowing that the earth is our mother, you would not feel it is 'natural' to tear and rip the guts and heart out of the mother who sustains your life. cont...

  • @Bra23we12 cont: You are right about one thing though; Mother Earth shows no mercy. You get what you give.

  • @Bra23we12 Too many children of fire, not enough of water.

  • @YAMIYAMIRUSH

98% water and fuelled by hydrocarbon oxidation....slow fire...each and every one of us...fire and water.

.....but I guess that wasn't your point?

I guess you're looking for ways to seperate us? That group is this...and that other group is that?

Those over there are fire.....but these here...these are water!

Not enough discrimination already in life for you?

    You need further subdivision?

    Water or Fire?

    Though all are both?

Good luck with that by the way.

  • @Bra23we12 "Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against." -Bruce Lee (Perfect example of water)

We have 4elements, You have no right to judge when you yourself are off balancing the scales to that of aggression. I work on keeping the cosmos at balance.

You're very foolish to think that the elements work on separation, but balance. There are forces we cannot fathom and for you to assume you understand things beyond your understanding is folly.

  • Also another thought... Can you put fire out with water? Would there be a need for water without fire?

    "As Above So Below".

  • @Bra23we12 Also there is "Fire" "Earth" "Air" "Water" and "Spirit" Study the pentagram and you will understand, as well as "As Above so Below".

  • @Bra23we12 is it apart of nature to call eachother 'knobs"? lmao. good point tho..

  • @Ssharon5050

    Yeah.....you're right.

'Knob' was a bit to far.

The guy might believe......and all belief is untouchable.

Like insulting a bloke when he's with his girlfriend or family....just something you just don't do. Nobody tells you not to. You just know.

    ....and there's the rub.

This guy has pulled his belief around him like it was an amoured cloak. Untouchable. Too holy to be disbelieved.....You'd have to have given up on mother earth to say anything against him?

  • @Bra23we12 we have lost our connection to nature, our reverence... our understanding.... the tooth and claws come out of misunderstanding our place... we lived on this planet 60k years and all of the sudden we are ruining the planet... this is not nature... this is evil and corruption working against the natural way of things... what we think is "progress" or "technology" is a lie we have been programmed into believing and what they dismiss as "primitive" is the true sustainable source of life

  • @stumptacular

We never lost our connection. We are natures children. What we do is natural.

Tooth and claw....we become all that our environment allows.

Today, we can change the environment that shaped us. We can shape our world as we shape ourselves.

The fear of change leads us to believe that yesterday was better than today.

Hope lets us feel that tommorow will be better than all our yesterdays.

We are all natures children. What we do is natural.

    The purpose of life.......is life.

  • @Bra23we12 You say we are a part of nature, and that we shouldn't talk about it as if it were separate, but in your later statement, you say nature does not govern with thoughts about politics. So I am confused, is nature a separate entity, or are we a part of nature? Your words seem contradictory.

  • @CountryBuff08

It is in the governance of nature that a thing must be what that thing is. This is the meaning of natural.

That a thing might change and in that change shape all other things, is the meaning of flow.

It is wrong to think that when things are changed they become unnatural. It is the natural way that all things must change. Nature governs thus.....and none may stand aside.

  • Where have all our teachers/medicine men gone??? Please don't forget us that maintain our culture and not succumb to the world. If you talk to the Creator, let him know we are still here...carrying the promise. Let the Creator help us with our children so they are not flagrant with their bodies and let their voices be true.

  • I'm an aussie of irish ancestry, I first found Red Crow through a video of his on here talking about the irish people, and I Favorited this long ago, I watch this occasionally on here, its such a classic, its a shame today only a small % percentage of music has any meaning

  • beautiful but sad i miss this singer. Is someone can tell me the words he say about Sitting Bull ?? because I sing this song and a part of the words I can't figure thanks

  • @milune11 "There is a place called South Dakota. It's the home of Sitting Bull. He was branded a redskin savage when he tried to defend his land that day. But his dream of beauty that they could not burn away...just another Holy Man that dared to be a friend...by god they killed him."

  • beautiful but sad i miss this singer

  • What a neat guy

  • wow. i had no idea he could sing. he was one of my favorite actors.

  • Where are all the women in this song? Of course all heroes are men, right

  • Where are all the women in this song? Of course all heroes are men, right

  • same idea as Abraham Martin and John another good honoring song

  • *main point of this song, sing....

Singing healing the human form of almost all dis-eases.

Sing a song, some song, but sing and be free again.

If you do this daily for ten mins it will open up the doors here on earth that you usually walk right past and can not see due to being in a more upset state of mind designed to be televised to all through TV. TV upsets the mind, turn it off, sing and you will know who you are inside. Which is the most important thing you can learn, Love is power!

  • Thank you Rainbow Warriors :)

  • Red Crow - you will be missed!

W drodze do chwały, gdzie życie wiecznie trwa

Zwykły człowiek, boży Syn, czyż pojąć go się da?

    Boże, zabili!

  • Jest miejsce zwane dziś Dakotą

    Kraj gdzie mieszkał Sitting Bull

    Zwano go czerwonym diabłem

Gdy broniąc go używał kul (czy chciał?)

Jego sen o pięknie wszak w ogniu zginąć miał

Jeszcze jeden święty mąż przyjaźń ocalić śmiał

    Boże, zabili!

  • Śpiewaj jak Mahatma Ghandi

    Graj jak Martin Luther King

    Śpiewaj pieśń Wszechmogącego

    Śpiewaj niczym Sitting Bull

Tekst: Kris Kristofferson i Floyd Red Crow Westerman

    Muzyka: Kris Kristofferson

    Przełożył: Marek Nowocień

  • It's hard to decribe the fullcircle-feelings of many things in my life sofar now taking place, Watching this video after i'v been crisscrossing the net the last week in search of information concerning the Hopi Legends, 2012-prophecies, Indian Elders speaking in their wisdom... Knew from the start that there was more to the man than just these video's on youtube.

More to him than just Dances with Wolves etc. This one is a Legend. Keep inspiring us all. LOVE HOPE and PEACE to all of us! The Doc

  • A great song, sung by an even greater man. Long live Red Crow! He will always be remembered in our hearts forever. Go in a good way, -Joseph

  • Thanx for this video and RIP "Red Crow" my friend

  • This is Uncle Ray on "Walker: Texas Ranger"

    WONDERFUL.

  • hi cihuapo'tli(sister), when did Mr. Westerman die? In the more info', they mention him as the late Mr.......

    your achcauhtli(bro), José

  • floyd red crow, light our path from above it´s unsure we´ll make it without your kind

  • Yes he was a powerful presence on this earth. He continues to be a powerful presence from the next world. It is not often I say that a cover song is better than the original but in this case, Flyod has done this tune better than Kris. I send thanks to both men for this strong message.

  • Long live Red Crow

  • wonderful. abraham, martin, and john

  • What a beautiful voice, and what beautiful people.

  • WOW!...over 6k views of this video...I am speechless...and so grateful to you all for sharing this video with your networks. It honors a man that I had the priviledge of only 'glancing off of' in my awkward white boy way so many years ago. Let's get this to 10k views! Thanks all!

  • @cmunik8r ......35 k

    thanks

  • Peace

  • 4:17 LeVar Burton? Kunta kinte, the cyclops blackdude on StarTrek: The Next Generation agrees. Cool.

  • a great man indeed.

  • Naah, sorry. Hippies ain't my bag.

  • Floyd Red Crow That sayit all right there

  • AAAHHHHH HIPPIES!

  • Now I HAVE to go add the song 'Hippie Children' by Rotundi from this concert!...it was the closing song...you'd all LOVE it, I'm sure... ;-)

  • Who is the bloody wanker at the start of the video??? The tune makes up for the tosser sounding like he's has something to offer....actually the singer should have walked up behind the wanker and kicked him up the arsehole where his head is at.

  • Sorry gang, but the 'bloody wanker' is Ken Carey. The Floyd tune is part of a much longer video of the entire concert (search 'Rainbow Warrior Festival' on Viddler)...I didn't edit the original video and could only cut out this clip...the 'wanker' is edited over the top of the intro to Floyd's tune...I'd have had to cut Floyds tune awkwardly to get Ken out of there, which I didn't want to do, so I kept 'the wanker' out of respect for the tune...plus keep in mind folks...this was 20 years ago...

  • #(more info) - "...that's another good example of 'a clash of cultures'' shows just how pretentious and know-it-all white settler society really is, uhh. Must always be in control (compulsive/obsessive).

Talking of a Ghandi or some other "holy man" is one thing, tho - but have you ever tried to be "holy" yourself? More than anything, it takes BRAVERY! That is, the kind of courage that men with guns never have.....

  • I keep coming back to this video, there is something so powerful and compelling about it. I cannot get it out of my head. Thanks so much...again.

  • Thank you so much cmunik8r for posting this on YouTube! :D

So happy my buddy shared it with me.

    What an awesome song.

  • Did Floyd ever record this version of the song?

  • I'm not sure if he did...anyone know?

  • yeah he was really talented.

  • This gave a chill... hasn't happened in a while...

  • There's so much names that should be said in this song. Geronimo should be in it.

  • Wonderfull Video...Great!

  • Title is They Killed Him written by Kris Kristofferson.

I used to play the Dylan lp it was on.

I'm loving this rendition.Long for the day when brothers stop killing brothers.

  • floyd my brother, we had many good times on the lake street house were Dar and Rosie lived, with the sound of the I-35W freeway that ran above us, we still sang above all that noise and we could hear you the loudest, gordon cloud sr. love you brother, you were one of a kind......

  • I was moved to comment simply because I came to learn of this man's inspirational light upon his passing. Artists' works will be here to speak to generations after we are gone and without knowing a lot about this artist, it was immediately obvious that he left a great light & inspiration. Like Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Peter Tosh & many others. I look forward to learning from and taking inspiration from his wisdom & artistic gems. joy & all good things to his family, friends & fans! ~dean brown~

  • We miss you Floyd. We will keep your songs and words a live. Peace

  • One of the great hightlights of my life was knowing Floyd, having my wife and two kids knowing him. When I'd meet with him and listen to him talk, and we sang a few lines from one of his songs. This song is a jewel of a find. Thanks to the person who uploaded it. There is so much to say about Floyd. All I can do is give thanks for the little time I spent with him.

  • I'm so grateful for and honored by everyone's comments and love for this amazing man. Please share the link! Chance

  • A GREAT WISE MAN

  • This is COOL!!!!

    Wow!!!

  • The earth is truely missing a gifted man of peace and civil rights activist. It brings tears to my eyes to think about this great man and our loss. Thanks for posting and reminding us all of this great man. May he walk in peace with the elders, holy men and chiefs that he so respecteed.
