Thank you so much for the post!
This is real TV. Just think about the work that went into this, few transistors. And then there is the production work. This was 1967 colur TV new? WOW. We are so used to this now. This was very special then. There blue ray, there I-phone. This was history, oh yea. In the world at the time that this was broadcast? The cold war, the world on the edge with both sides ready to push the button and the drop of a hat.

A bunch of Nazi bastards, Kaempfert and his orchestra. Spoils the quality of the music. How many Jews did this beast send to the ovens? Interesting that he never appeared on stage or was ever in the company of a Jew.
Boy, this color looks good for a 1967 videotape. It's funny how in the US, or at least in New York, Bert Kaempfert's music is most closely identified with a children's TV comedy show, the Sandy Bccker show. Sandy Becker used this music as the opening theme of his show & as cues coming in & out of commercials.
This is such a great stuff! Unfortunately, most people nowadays don't listen to this kind of music. It's so soothing and exciting, so harmonious, tender and upbeat.
Why did you decide that the trumpeter was unhappy? And who cares about sunglasses, just enjoy the music. Nobody intended to sing "Strangers in the night" with lyrics. This is typical for easy-listening bands-to sing vowels because here the melody is important, not the words

Why is the trumper player so unhappy? Why have the singers forgotten the lyrics to Strangers In the Night? And why are there guys wearing sunglasses behind the flute section? At least Bert remembered to wear a nice tux for the gig.
@sharp5music The guys in the background are members of another orchestra, the SWF Big Band led by Rolf Hans Müller. The shades are probably because of the bright lights for the TV broadcast. RIP Manfred.
@0917gva Afrikaan Beat is the first song. at 1:10 it segues to Wonderland By Night, written by Bert Himself!. The high-pitched sopranos you hear are very much in the style of Ray Conniff. At 2:40 is Swinging Safari & 3:27 begins Strangers in the Night. All are posted separately & I believe all here are also original compositions by Bert! He was THAT talented. Brilliant Trumpet soloist Manfred Moch left the following year when Bert felt he didn't deserve a raise! Probably Bert's worst mistake.
This was pulled from another channel, but this performance was filmed on the very FIRST day of color broadcast transmission in Germany in 1967! It is a window into broadcasting history. Notice some of the bright colors in the set design, tasteful, but JUST enough to make eyes pop after nothing but black & white broadcasts had aired before. Trumpeter Manfred Moch was one of the signature sounds of BK Orchestra from 1961-1968
We used to created such classy beautiful music like this. Im proud of our past, but how is it that western culture has managed to degenerate itself in just a short 40 years? We make nothing like this anymore and hardly anyone even cares. Its very sad. My generation is such a joke with the "music" they listen to. I wasn't born until '83, but I can tell when there is skill and talent involved like in the Bert Kaempfert Orchestra.
@drh4683 You are at least a musician at heart, Douglas. Those of us who are here relish in the auditory magic of this music. Society is so dumbed down now that it relies on visuals almost exclusively. That's how performers have taken the place of performing artists. I shun the idol shows like the plague, they purposely show you crappy performers & why waste my time like that with music like this here? Come back to this video, see my other comment & I hope you've checked out my 700 playlists.

@ermyvids That's what the Military-Industrial Complex wanted us
all to think anyhow, that "the world was on the edge with both sides
ready to push the button". RUBBISH. It was never no such thing,
but same as now they're scaring everyone with "terrorists" lurking
behind every bush. "Al Qaeda" is our own CIA, 9-11 was a FALSE
FLAG just like the Gulf of Tonkin incident that gave the criminal
Johnson "reason" for the BOGUS WAR in VietNam.

The Trumpeter ( Manfred Moch ) could have been unhappy as Bert would not give a pay rise, he left the next year.
Sadly Manfred Moch has passed away May 28 2011.
Great music. Bert Kaempfert tunes will live for ever.
