That is alot of tension for the animal to pull down to set the trap off. Check out Dave Canterbury's variation at wildernessoutfitters. Also, I've come up with a better way to make a fork stick, check out my toggle snare video as well. Glad to find another brother in the outdoors, take care.
@OutdoorPatriot Yes I agree. I am well knowledgeable about Dave's version. I am Dave's first student to ever pass Phase 1 of the Pathfinder School This version of the Spring Snare was made by the Lead Instructor Steve Davis. This was made over a year ago when we first started working on different spring snare traps etc. Thank you again brother!
dude you move the camera around like Blair witch!.....and you dont show how to load the trigger stick to the stick in the back.....can't even see the stick in the back
@sportskid1414 The animal wouldnt exactly have to put its legs up on the trigger. A strong enough pull or push could knock the smaller stick away from the trigger and activate the trap
Thanks for the video. I did some experamenting and if you use a "Y" branch, it is easier to make. I like the "Y" branch better because you don't have to lash the sticks together. Once again thanks for the video.
thanks so much for this video, its a lot better than the other videos ive seen. ill have to try this! i hope you can make more videos soon, i subscribed.
i made one and came back the next day and the snares was set off but nothing was in it. i set it again and tried it with a stick like you did and the noose didn't close. can someone please help.
P.S. yes i know how to tie a noose and many other slip knots and none of them work.
this may be hard to believe but i did the same thing just bigger (i was trying to get rid of some wild dogs aaround my neighbor hood and trapped a deer (i used that plasticy rope stuff ) it was so funny because i saw iit happen
awesome vid do u think it would work on pheasant or is it a few different types of game thanks for the vid do you know how to make the spring spear trap on rambo first blood if yes have you got a vid
theoutdoorwarrior aint funny what so ever people like to learn not to have clowns around learn to be kind somewhere or take your jokes somewhere else cause this man has just taught me how to make a perfect snare
Man, calm down. I know he made a very good snare. He helped me a lot too. I meant nothing serious by my comment, and I'm sure he knows that. I think you're the only one offended by what I wrote. In which case, go get a life. It's not like we're talking about someone's grandmother dying.
G'day. This is one of the best trapping videos I've seen, very good instructions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that the spring is a sappling. Great video, 5 stars, favorited and subscribed. Thanks friend
Its just on the trigger stick that Im confused about. I recognize the two crisscrossed sticks, the bait stick, but Im not too sure where you place the trigger stick-
The trigger stick was just standing up at the very tail end of the bait stick. It just supports the tension of the bait stick once it is in place. When something touches the bait stick, the trigger stick just falls out of the way and allows the tree to fly up.
Awesome trap. Like.
