I'm so glad this was only TV. I spent ten years of my LFB service as a driving instructor and an driving examiner. If a fire brigade driver drove like that, and with such an aggressive attitude he'd be back to the driving school for a retest on the recommendation of his Guv'. (I know .....spoil sport).
Jesus I remember watching London's Burning when I was eight. It was kind of scary back then probably because I thought it was real. It still sends shivers down my spine.
I rememember this episode very well from episode 1 in 1994 I think. It has to be said the driving demonstrated ealier on is way over-ezaggerated, there is no need to perform such a counter-move around the bus, or around the van... the water tank must have been drained of water also to keep the truck balanced, however it looks very realistic to the untrained eye! Also, I reckon the RS they are using is early an appliance, not late 80s/early 90's one, judging by the locker shutters & front grille.
Now maybe if fire engine drivers drove that way in real life, less people would do stupid things like cross the road when they hear a siren or not bother to get out the way when they hear a siren or race across a junction when a fire engine is coming
Is this still on the air? I used to watch it all the time but you must have recent clips here where's the old HEE,AWW,HEE,AWW siren they had on this show?
i think gorge was the best of lb e was init right frm the begin all the wy through to da end so wish it was on sunday nites well miss it just after gettin out of the shower then at 10 off to bed for school lol
hahah yeah the fire engine has NO turning circle what so ever, unles u play getaway 1 n use the dpad then it spins 360 degrees in a 6pence LOL great vid
kinda remimds me of some of the drivers at our sation although not as bad
Having driven Scania, Volvo and Dennis Sabre Fire engines, to me nothing beats those Dennis SS pumps! Maybe not as quick, but they handle just like a fire engine should! Serious chuck-about-ability!
used to love this on sunday nights

I know Glenn, and he had to do a yearly training course with LFB to drive the motors.
He is a lovely bloke in real life, does a lot of charity work!
KD450 2 years ago
He does indeed. Me, my grandad and his friend used to take this engine out and raise money for charity. That was until Ken Livingstone stopped us.

I do know motorists panic when they hear the sirens. My mum does. Firefighters say dont panic !!
But the driving in this looked stupidly dangerous.PLUS when your a pederstrian you DONT cross the road when you see a bloody fire engine!!
My grandad was a fireman in the 1950's & they didnt have sirens!! they had someone ringing a bell!
