  • the only thing predictable about drops is that they are unprdictable

  • nice i am so happy it is hunting u guys from regina hey i am from fort quappelle

  • nice buck

  • Terible shot... Damned near missed! Gut shot!

  • @TERYDOTCOM It looked like it went straight through the breast (Below the neck)?

  • @TERYDOTCOM thats an exit wound have you ever seen a gut shot run 100 yards and drop dead

  • if this is all the more excited these guys get over a big nasty like that? I am not so sure they need to be hunting.. my god man, I wouldnt be able to contain it

  • Very Nice Buck,I Think I Would Be Much More Excited than that,But You Guys Are used to Having Deer That Big Im Sure.Congrats!!

  • wonder what that scored

  • gross 152

  • i cant wait im going hunting next year in saskatch there are some monsters down there i saw a big 6X6 but let him walk (because it was the first day) would been about 170 waited for him for 6 days but he never came back but i shot a buck that scored about 155

  • I heard they had alot of snow in some areas killing off large amounts of deer heards. Mainly the northern part of sask. Its unfortunate. The 08 season will not be as good as it has in past previous years.

  • that guy didn't even seem excited about that buck

  • i shit bigger deer

  • wow ur butthole must really b tore up then

  • hey man great buck and great shot.

  • did you ever score the buck?

  • yes. Every year after the injury they grow the drop tine on the opposite side, at least according to a wildlife biologist I worked with at Cabelas.

  • no kidding, very cool

  • re: garytelecastor

This is true but not always the case. It could be as simple as genetics...some deer

just have a gene that produces non-typical antlers. Some are caused from inbreeding...there are a number of explainations all of which need to be taken into consideration.

  • That's interesting. Where did you find this. I was working at Cabelas when I heard about this and I would like to be able to share this with a couple of guys.

  • injury causing a droptine every year is not likely. Major injuries often result in antler on the opposite side to be deformed every year, but not necessarily form a droptine Minor injuries usually cause a deformed antler one year only. Where did you find inbreeding causing nontypical antlers? I haven't found any evidence in the literature yet. It would make sense and not be surprising though. I guess deformities of all kinds may result from inbreeding, although whitetails do not commonly inbreed

  • you are right that injury would normally cause some kind of abnormally on the opposite side...likely not a drop-tine.what i have scene are eight pointers that become seven pointers because the one side is now abnormal with increased length on the main frame but a lose of tines...just a long small fork at the end. one had a injury that effected him more than just one year. Both years his horns where effected by his injury. But that's not to say that a deer couldn't get over the injury in time

  • Another thing you are 100% right that deer in most cases will not inbreed, bucks will leave the area asap. In Texas you will see a lot of high-fenced ranches that wouldn't restrict inbreeding if new genetics are not introduced periodically. What would inbreeding do to the herd? I imagine disease and deformed horns. I do know that a breeder down here payed a million for a 300 plus deer to sell straws of semen. If you want drop-tine's you have to introduce the gene into the herd.

  • @garytelecastor thats not dropt tines that weak sides or 3rd main beams. its like if a deer has a normal left side then an odd right side, deformed appearance.

  • Beautiful Hunt guys. What did he score out at? What were you shooting? Man I love venison. An interesting fact about the drop tine. Apparently one of the reasons it grows is at some time during the life of the deer the front forelock opposite the drop tine gets injured. From that time forward the drop tine grows. Biologists have no understanding why.

  • meaning every year it grow dropper?

  • nice buck im coming up to saskatchewan in november
