America Became involved in the second world war when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. After the Japanese surprise attack, USA went to war with the Japanese. The Japanese were signing members of the Tripartite Pact, a treaty that said if one of the members went to war with a country, the others would go to war as well. As the other countries in the pact were Germany and Italy, by declaring war on Japan, USA was also going to war with these other countries.

@DavidB0G I meant that its not really America's business to go around sorting other countries' problems. The US got involved for different reasons in WW2 and similarly in Iraq, primarily for a direct benefit and not to promote world peace :)

We'll see if they can justify sticking out in this war while their economy is going down the drain.

BTW im glad they got involved and shut Germany down, otherwise we would all be screwed right now. The US just needs to get something out of this war.

actually, the only reason we got involved at all was because Japan attacked us first, we stayed out of the war until then and then went to war with Germany and Italy because they were Japan's allies if I am not mistaken.

i agree that it is not our problem to fix the world's problem when we cant even fix our own. we just need to get out of other nation's business and worry about our own.

Most of our 20th century presidents have tried to convince people that market regulation is the key to success and every time they try it there is an economic disaster. Presidents like FDR tried to convince people of this by arguing that america was more economically successful due to other reasons and that the government needed more control. The economic benefit that slavery provided was no better than the other countries that also used slavery.

I think Obama made a few good points but like you said, some were a little contradictory. Overall, its nice to have some changes in our political system seeing that the Democrats are in power and the super-conservatives are mostly kept out of it. However its kinda stupid that NASA's budget is gonna be limited to almost nothing.
