Спасибо морякам США, не важно правильно или нет провели церемонию, главное, что это было сделано торжественно, искренне, от души, с уважением к советским морякам, в то время, нашим морякам молебен бы может заказали только родственники на берегу, да и то не все какой нибудь высокий морской чин, или капитан, сказал бы стандартные слова, сделали бы оружейный залп, привязали бы колесник к телу и кинули бы за борт, следом венок вот и всё. This ceremony was in fact carried out by the CIA. The operation was deemed too great a secret for the USN to carry out. The CIA ten asked billionaire Howard Hughes to build the ship under the cover story that it was a mining ship. Still well done to tthe CIA, you have to wonder if other nations would have done the same.

@JulietSierraUK The bodies were recovered in a top secret operation to raise the K-129 from the ocean floor-obviously, giving back bodies that were supposed to have been lost in a sub that sunk in 16,000 feet of water would have raised a few eyebrows in Moscow. The CIA and the Navy did what they could to show respect to the sailors in the sub while maintaining secrecy. This tape was given to the Russian gov't after the fall of the USSR, and it passed it along to the families of the sailors.

The United States was trying to steal that sub and the operation went really bad. Вопреки расхожему мнению, которое существует в России благодаря Путинской про-Китайской пропаганде (моё мнение), Американские вооруженные силы это не банда озлобленных фашистов, а высокоорганизованная организация которая ставит правила, дисциплину и достоинство (honor) как главный приоритет своей структуры. I first saw a tiny excerpt of this video about 15 years ago on a TV show about the Glomar Explorer. I thought it was an appropriate gesture that a ceremony was held and recorded for some future day when it could be shared. Thanks for uploading.

The exact location where the K-129 sank is disputed. If you read a book like Red Star Rogue by Ken Sewell, you will read that K-129 sank at 24 N latitude and 163 W longitude, or approx. 300 miles from Hawaii. This is much closer to the US than the area where the Soviets searched for their missing boat. Regardless of the cause of the K-129's loss, it was right that this ceremony was performed. The ceremony was very well done. This was a very noble tribute. Thank you for posting the video.
