  • Dang, I didn't think the hood of a Horizon would be so tough against an axe.

  • @Ryoku75 They don't make 'em like they used to. :)

  • @awn98q Nope, I've heard of people taking on deer in those and still driving home. Guess Chrysler couldn't make money off cars that last.

  • me and you should have a contest to see who can cut a car hood in half the fastest. DEAL or NO DEAL???

  • Seems to be a very durable axe. The first hit sounded like a gun shot too :)

BTW, SLCgirl, why would you invite anyone to Utah? I live in Ogden, and personally I think I would be going to him if you wanted to "lick the riccaso". I will leave it at that.

  • I would like to party with you, Andy Wayne. Do you get to Utah much? I would like to be your Battle Mistress and you can be my Rat Daddy. I would like to strip off all of your krinkle coat and rub your choil and lick your riccaso. I'd like to bump and (swedge) grind with you all day and all night.

Just remember, I'm a safe gal, so make sure you bring a sheath to put your steel in.

  • Lol...well done. Very creative, you know your knife terminology. :)

  • So you plan to rescue a car battery?

  • No, the hood was the only piece of car material I had access to. This axe was designed as an entry/rescue device, and this showed its ability to cut through heavy steel with no damage.

  • Couldn't the hood be just crappy and old? Doesn't seem like the best axe to me :/

  • It's pretty thick. They don't make 'em like they used to.

  • Maybe if they added about 6-8 inches on that handle it would help. Not a very effective tool. If you want a axe that will open a car get a Strider Crash Axe.

  • very nice its a good tool to have

  • This is easily the dumbest video I have ever seen. You could of lit your hair on fire and put it out with a sledge hammer and it would have been cooler than that!!!!!!

  • And just why is it dumb? I'm testing a product for what it was designed to do - cut open cars to rescue trapped individuals. Being "cool" was not the objective. A lot of people were wondering if a ~1/4" hawk would be able to do it without damage, but didn't want to try with their own after paying $200+ for it. I didn't mind, and I filmed it so they could see too.

  • $200? :/

  • Yes, it's made by one of the top knife companies in the world, with the highest quality knife steel, and the best warranty in the industry. :)

  • What company is that?

  • Swamp Rat Knife Works

  • nice, you should finsih the hood off by puttign it on bricks and stomping on it. crush the bitch.

  • There was no damage whatsoever, it was only dulled. I resharpened the edge and spike to shaving sharp, and it's ready for more hard use. If you'd like to see pics of it during, and after, and pics of the edge after this, Google this WITH QUOTES: "Horizon Hood Crash Axe Test (pics & video)"

  • Because it was made to be able to do that. :) It's only a little bit bigger than 1/4" thick. It is made of SR-77, which is a form of modified S7 steel, which is a very damage resistant impact steel used to make jackhammer bits among other things.

  • That's idiotic! Why would you do that?

  • Because when yo ass crashes bad, you needa be able to get out alive son!

  • Yeeeeeah, da's w's up, homie.

  • ummmmm this really means nothing with out seeing the axe after the event... my axe will do that and not need resharpened....

  • It won't let me post a link here, but if you want the link to the during and after pics, send me a message.

  • Ms. Gregg, if you're out there, I bet you'd love this!

  • Andy, I had NO IDEA the crash axe could take something like that!!! You beat the hell out of it didnt ya?
