this song is eargasmic, it's so mystic, i feel like if im deep in a state if trance but without any fuckin drugs or chemical stuff. cheers from Morocco.
not once in my life have i ever heard such a flavorful, unusual, and brilliant band in my life. i will without a doubt order this album and explore more throughout their catalogue
In my opinion they don't sound very alike. I can here some similarities in short passages (when Pasi breaks from the clean vocals), but most of the time there's no connection. I've owned the cd since 1997 (came out in '96), and I loved it ever since then. I didn't notice the Hetfield-aspect until you pointed it out.
I had a couple of Nightwish songs that did that. But it was only because I used Limewire and with Limewire you have to expect to end up with a lot of complete crap.
My suggestion... stop using Limewire, or, if that doesn't apply, just keep looking.
Better it would be for me And better it would have been Had I not been born, not grown Not been brought into the world Not had to come to this earth Not been suckled for the world If Id died a three-night-old Been lost in my swaddling band Id have needed but a span of cloth A span more of wood But a cubit of goof earth Two words from the priest Three verses from the cantor One clang from the bell
Had I not been born; not grown - not brought into this world.
Damn this is like the most epic song I've heard in a while. And it's actually not that normal "depressing" bullshit - a'la "CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:
@Rikuzzz Of course this isn't "cut my wrists and black my eyes" stuff. This is not teen emo. This is not goth. This is Doom. This is Death. This is METAL.
I remember hearing this on a 2 hour radioshow that played nothing but metal for the 2 hours, which I thought was frigging great because back home all they play is pop music and I was only 15 at the time. I taped all the music that SOUNDED good as soon as it came on and I recorded this song but I NEVER knew who played it, until last night I was listening to an internet radio station and the name appeared on the top of itunes. How times have changed....
No, no... he's much better than other vocalists of doom bands that have suddenly decided to use primarily clean vocals. Anathema for one... shocking... and sooo disappointing...
I think is "but a span of cloth", since i looked up the dictionary, and "doth" doesn't exist. Anyway, "cloth" makes sense, as dead bodies used to be wrapped in cloth, when they didn't have money for a coffin.
I'm not sure though, as "doth" could be some kind of old english.
In Judaism daath in the wisdom to the Jews. Frequently called Chachmah, which was considered the "highest good" and meant righteousness and "loving kindness."
