This scene doesn't make sense. Why in the hell didn't they deploy Jackson, the sniper, to an advantageous spot and have him take out the Germans guarding the radar station? After that, he could have kept the surviving German pinned down until he either exposed himself or surrendered.

I tell you whats so sad aboutt his clip. Wade was saying about how he didn't get on with his Mum, then he was crying for her as he was about to die, I think about this every time I go to sleep, makes me want to join the army for some reason.
@Troggleboggle I really appreciate actors who are talented enough to make you truely hate them when they depict the villains in movies. Like the lady who played the nurse in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, she was great.
Wade crying for his mama hits me just as hard every time I see it. No matter how many times I'll see this movie, that scene will drive me to near tears. Unbelievable acting. This is probably the best movie I have ever seen.
Who thought it was sad when Wade was Screaming Momma!!!! And all his crying was sad. What makes it sadder, before this seen he talks about seeing his mom and how he misses her.
@HellzAce yup,as a former member of the military myself I cab relate to this,god bless all the ones we lost in the two world wars ,Korea,Vietnam and OEF/OIF/ISAF etc..had two uncles that served in as paratroopers in WWII and nam respectively the latter on D-day to D day +365+ something with the 101. and the other in Op.Junction city with the 173d. @repulic5 Yeah I don't get it, some of the holes looked like shrapnel and the others looked like bullet wounds. I wonder what happened to the guy who threw the grenade and got it thrown back at him though
Guys, Upham didn't want to be a soldier. He joined an intelligence role which didn't include fighting. But Miller needed a translator for the mission.Think about it for a while then tell me you wouldn't be in that situation if your watching your new friends be killed all around you. War is hell. Don't forget that.
@NathanH97 But in the last battle scene, he let his new friends die. He could have easily saved his friend if he had gone up and shot the enemy, but he was too scared. I understand why he was scared and what not, but I think it is debatable whether some of us might have been capable of mustering up the courage to help our friend. I believe many of us may have acted similarly to Upham in the other situations, but in that situation, most of us may have attempted to help.
@mcrmy988 I think it's supposed to slow down the flow of blood...or so I heard. Although Wade was hit through the artery so he was pretty much a gonner as soon as the bullet left the small of his back :(
@laksemann O really? Well, I'd like to see how YOU'd react when you're just a translator and all of a sudden some strange people put you in a situation where you don't know anybody, where everybody first hates you. Upham had never fired a weapon before, he said so to Miller when they met so actually Miller could've known that Upham was gonna be too scared to do something.

+Miller dident allow himself to get shot, he ran for the detonator to blow the bridge and Steamboat Willie gut shotted him
@kincse95 i dont care if you speak english or not just shut the hell up you dumb ass you think it's funny for someone to die like that id put you up front and shoot you to see how funny that would be for you it's freakin sad

Okay *now* I've got something in my eye... must be the dust.
I agree with that, but also I believe that Wade was a valuable resource to the team because he was a Medic, and knew how to deal with the medical issues within the war. But also, anybody would do the same if their buddy just died.
You weren't supposed to, because of the Geneva Convention ( the same rules didn't allow medics to carry weapons btw), but in war it often happened anyway. I personally think that shooting the medic is one of the worst things you could do.
Yeah thanks for that information, nowadays, you can't tell the difference between an army Medic and a normal soldier, beside the fact that he carries a medical kit, that law has been wiped out.
Yeah thanks for that information, nowadays, you can't tell the difference between an army Medic and a normal soldier, beside the fact that he carries a medical kit, that law has been wiped out.
@SANCHEZisTheGREATEST thats what his character was supposed to act like. so if you think hes a bitch and hes supposed to act like one he did a good job didnt he?
@mcrmy988 I am a medic, I've personally never seen that before, but since the movie is based on WW2 (1939-1945), I guess it was an old substitute for pain killers I guess. Not too sure though.
This film differs from all the other war films because the deaths seemed so real yet so worthless... in other films you know the deaths are fake, in this film you forget that they're fake... really the only film that makes me feel this way
the US would be run by the Nazi's if we didn't win this war. War is terrible, but unfortunately, it's a necessary evil. There will ALWAYS be war. There is no escaping it. I wish there was a way for everyone to coexist, but when you have fools like the camel-fucker Osama Bin Laden, who use religion to justify killing innocent Americans, it proves that there will always be hate. Therefore, there will always be war.
@kerranghighvoltage Doesn't he ask them to put him out of his misery by giving him the morphine? He starts doing the whole "momma I wanna go home" thing which I hve to admit is kind of funny after he's high as a damn kite.
i cried at every single soldiers death in this movie, especially jacksons and wades. this is acting at its best,. cameras were made to capture moments like these.
Wow, i never cry while watching anything like this. Neither does my dad, but this scene got us both. Kudos to all the actors, especially Giovanni Ribisi.
can u imagine the amount of pain he would be in, a large machine gun bullet, just one though right in the stomach. you dont even die right away you die in like 5 minutes of slow agonizing pain. this guys a true man. there arnt alot worst ways to die then this
@Nostro200 Idk i got 2 viewpoints on this. I'm not arguing with you in anyway but i feel it would take more Morphine than that to overdose someone (but i could be wrong i never touched the crap) and maybe they felt bad for wasting all that morphine on one person when there supply is limited. It's like on Band Of Brothers when there in the Arden Forrest.
ok i know im gona get serious heat for this but hear me out please... i belive this movie should have been rated PG 13 instead of R (pause for afect) now you ask why. ok its because there are movies PG 13 that KIDS watch that have little or no blood so that makes them think oh gun doesnt do that much damage. How many kids would there be who want to shoot guns if they saw wht they could REALLY do like in this? idk please reply and give me ur thoughts.
Guys us as Americans have mostly grown up being taught that the us is the good guys. Neither germans or Americans wanted to. They had to. We are brought up being taught that the Nazis were completely evil and we are the saviors. It's not like that
@WeezyWackRecords Thankfully some people such as yourself make it through schooling and have the common sense to see the truth behind all the lies. Another one that bothers me is when people assume that any German soldier in WW2 was a Nazi.
Why do they give mercy to the German if he hekoed kill one of their closest friends thats too much mercy if you ask me but kind :'(This is by far the saddest scene apart from the Jewish person getting stabbed that gets to me :(
omg when he calls out to his mom, I just lose it. Powerful scene.

Okay *now* I've got something in my eye... must be the dust.

Isn't it true in the old times, you were'nt allowed to shoot a Medic during a war on the battlefield??
SANCHEZisTheGREATEST 11 months ago
@SANCHEZisTheGREATEST thats why they were kicking the germans ass after he surrendered
MRclmarshFTW 11 months ago
@MRclmarshFTW
I agree with that, but also I believe that Wade was a valuable resource to the team because he was a Medic, and knew how to deal with the medical issues within the war. But also, anybody would do the same if their buddy just died.
SANCHEZisTheGREATEST 11 months ago
@SANCHEZisTheGREATEST
You weren't supposed to, because of the Geneva Convention ( the same rules didn't allow medics to carry weapons btw), but in war it often happened anyway. I personally think that shooting the medic is one of the worst things you could do.
VoorbijDeRegenboog 10 months ago
@VoorbijDeRegenboog
Yeah thanks for that information, nowadays, you can't tell the difference between an army Medic and a normal soldier, beside the fact that he carries a medical kit, that law has been wiped out.

@SANCHEZisTheGREATEST do u know what they put on his wounds? the powder stuff?
mcrmy988 7 months ago
@mcrmy988 I am a medic, I've personally never seen that before, but since the movie is based on WW2 (1939-1945), I guess it was an old substitute for pain killers I guess. Not too sure though.

@SANCHEZisTheGREATEST
Upham was a Linguist . not a combat soldier. he's a rear echolon soldier with a week combat training. i thought he did pretty good.
jackass127 7 months ago
@jackass127 Yeah true, but if you're going into war, you've got to be ready for this kind of stuff, no matter what position or rank you hold.
SANCHEZisTheGREATEST 7 months ago

I could use a littel more morefin...they give it to him knowing it will kill him
is the same thing that shooting him in the head to stop the suffering
Nostro200 1 year ago

It's not like that
WeezyWackRecords 1 year ago
@WeezyWackRecords Thankfully some people such as yourself make it through schooling and have the common sense to see the truth behind all the lies. Another one that bothers me is when people assume that any German soldier in WW2 was a Nazi.

nalle117 1 year ago
i hate this part because
1. when wade dies the sun comes out
2. he gets his liver shot open
3. a nazi shot him and they let the nazi go. the same nazi kills the captain.
4. wade is whimpering and crying and saying he doesnt wanna die
5. wade dies after he gets some morphine
6. they shouldve killed the nazi
