  • omg when he calls out to his mom, I just lose it. Powerful scene.

  • This scene doesn't make sense. Why in the hell didn't they deploy Jackson, the sniper, to an advantageous spot and have him take out the Germans guarding the radar station? Throughout the movie we see what a superb sniper he is. How many Krauts are there? 3 or 4? Jackson could have killed two of them before the others even knew what was happening. After that, he could have kept the surviving German pinned down until he either exposed himself or surrendered.

  • @Slipgut My thoughts exactly , they were not seen yet didn't bother to find a tree for Jackson to climb up for an elevated site on the bunker ? Hollywood bullshit !

  • I can't stand Upham! I would love to slap him as hard as I can.

  • i remember when i was 8 years old, i first saw this movie i wanted to be a medic. now im 19 and ship out fort lenoard wood for basic on the april 30th and fort sam houston for ait to become a 68whiskey aka combat medic.

  • This scene always makes me cry even though I already know what's going to happen. I love this movie. <3

  • AM I SHOT IN THE S-S-SPINE????

  • He knew he was going to die with a few more shots of morphine....it just numbed him out to the point of death...otherwise, it would have been a slow, painful death...losing all of your blood...

  • @RealAmericanHero420 thats why he said "....give it to him"

  • @RealAmericanHero420 <------This guy would love to be stuck in a bunker with a bunch of military men. Especially if they were all like him and could pass him around and gape his asshole two twice the size that his "rich" father did. Don't worry I know this dude and he likes Pronger which is code for he loves to jerk the dog off when his parents go to sleep because he lives in their basement still.

  • makes me cry every moment i remember this...Wade's voice keeps echoing in my mind. He calls out for his mom knowing the last time he saw her wasn't enough.

  • His terrified babbling of "I don't want to die" is what crushes me each time.

  • People should understand that Upham signed up for working with maps and translating, not fighting. He didn't join the army with the mindset like the other characters

  • fuck upham he's a coward

  • I tell you whats so sad aboutt his clip. Wade was saying about how he didn't get on with his Mum, then he was crying for her as he was about to die, I think about this every time I go to sleep, makes me want to join the army for some reason.

  • We watched this in class last year... I was sick one day, this scene came up, and I passed out. Shit's almost too realistic..

  • It`s amazing how we can all feel bad for him here and get sad when he dies, yet many people hated his guts in Avatar at the same time.

Giovanni Ribisi, he`s one hell of an actor. Very believable, I like him.

  • @Troggleboggle I really appreciate actors who are talented enough to make you truely hate them when they depict the villains in movies. Like the lady who played the nurse in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, she was great.

  • ....and now we are bailing fucking Europe out again with our money....thanks fed

  • I didnt want him to die, the jew to die, or the sniper. They all ended up dieing. So sad.

  • @Hazzzalar very sad...the only ones who made it out of that crew were Ed Burn's character (I forgot his name) and Upham

  • Gosh, the acting in this scene was just FANTASTIC and the effects on Wade's body really did look like he'd been shot!

  • man I feel bad for Wade.He was one of my favorite character.

  • It's Daniel Farraday!

  • Wade crying for his mama hits me just as hard every time I see it. No matter how many times I'll see this movie, that scene will drive me to near tears. Unbelievable acting. This is probably the best movie I have ever seen.

  • It's a damn shame that this movie did not win the academy award for best picture.

  • awww :( i didnt want him to die!!

  • Greatest acting I have seen

  • This is why Saving private ryan is the best ww2 and all other war movies!

    Greatest acting I have seen

  • this scene still gets me...god damiit why wade

  • Wade shouldnt have died like that,FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MAMA.....MAMA....MA....MORPHINE! *EYES CLOSE* DEAD.FUCK

  • WADE!!!!

  • Who thought it was sad when Wade was Screaming Momma!!!! And all his crying was sad. What makes it sadder, before this seen he talks about seeing his mom and how he misses her.

  • You would be surprised how many men died in this war screaming for their mother..I guess its an instinct or something..nothing shameful in that..

  • @KINGKENNYTHEHOLY Most of the soldiers still lived with their mothers because that's how young they were....just incredible right?

  • @HellzAce yup,as a former member of the military myself I cab relate to this, god bless all the ones we lost in the two world wars ,Korea,Vietnam and OEF/OIF/ISAF etc..had two uncles that served in as paratroopers in WWII and nam respectively the latter on D-day to D day +365+ something with the 101. and the other in Op.Junction city with the 173d. AB...also god bless everyone I served with and is currently serving or have served in the present conflicts.you will not be forgotten.incredible yes

  • @KINGKENNYTHEHOLY No doubt about it. May we never forget. The world's gone to hell and people have forgotten the past but I have a feeling that in the next decade or two that will change for some reason.

Keep your friends close, keep the soldier next to you closer.

  • @HellzAce Yeah I have that same eerie feeling myself,Ive seen quite a many idealists including myself get turned into cold cynics after things they have been trough in this last decade and the beginning of this..20 + years, man theres no telling whats gonna happen..the economy on top of everything and all..one thing im sure of though,is that we will be fighting some kind of war in some kind of place, cause such is the nature of man.

  • @KINGKENNYTHEHOLY If you've ever had morphine , you'd understand Wade's babbling . Once it kicks in you are in a dream .

  • what an awesome movie but so many sad scenes. my favorite war movie of all time. how did wade died? did he got shot?

  • @kkyolbee clean trough the liver by a MG42 bullet

  • i cry each time i see this

  • @JessNanoscript me 2

  • There is a question I have since the first time I saw this scene many years ago, is how bad was the wound that had Wade?

  • @calito44 As far as I can tell it went trough the liver and out the back..you are most certainly a goner then.

  • Damnit i'll never get used to that. Adios amigo.

  • What's the name of the song (ost) when Miller is crying?

  • I cried

  • This to me was the saddest part of the movie.

  • Comment removed

  • One of the finest bit of acting I have seen!!!

  • he was soo desperate to help[ carpoza earlier in the movie. bless him. it was soo sad when he cried for his mama who he had spoken about earlier in the movie...

  • The son of a bitch , he (german SS) shooted a doctor!!!!

If i was he , i'll kill him (german SS) directly!!!

  • @Gomino100 you're a retard, don't ever reproduce

  • @Gomino100 Dude...."shooted" isn't a word. it's Shot

  • @RewriteLegacy If your frum tha shouth it ish. Hahahaha.

  • @Gomino100 then why had the doc a gun and ran onto them?

  • @BigMek456

to have something to save himself!!!

  • I dont wanna die, I dont wanna die! Made me cry like a baby :(

  • Sulpha. To fight infection.

  • Also, I would've blew the skinheads brains out.

  • from 00:40 to 00:47, I believe thats Wade heaving a grenade, and it getting thrown back, thus leading to his death. Wade's death was....sobering to watch.

  • @MetalSights dosent explain the bulletholes though

  • @repulic5 Yeah I don't get it, some of the holes looked like shrapnel and the others looked like bullet wounds. I wonder what happened to the guy who threw the grenade and got it thrown back at him though

  • @MetalSights try casevacing one of your friends in real life in some dump of a country we shouldn't be in the first place..

  • Guys, Upham didn't want to be a soldier. He joined an intelligence role which didn't include fighting. But Miller needed a translator for the mission.Think about it for a while then tell me you wouldn't be in that situation if your watching your new friends be killed all around you. War is hell. Don't forget that.

  • @NathanH97 but with mellish, that was a dick coward move. Seriously, he had a loaded gun and the germna had nothing!

  • @NathanH97 But in the last battle scene, he let his new friends die. He could have easily saved his friend if he had gone up and shot the enemy, but he was too scared. I understand why he was scared and what not, but I think it is debatable whether some of us might have been capable of mustering up the courage to help our friend. I believe many of us may have acted similarly to Upham in the other situations, but in that situation, most of us may have attempted to help.

  • If anyone says war is good, show them this.

  • Is the actor who played Wade the same guy who played Frank Jr. in Friends?

  • @marvelrocks11 Yeah - Giovanni Ribisi

  • This is still happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, for no good fucking reason at all.

  • do u guys know what they put on his wounds? the powder stuff?

  • @mcrmy988 I think it's supposed to slow down the flow of blood...or so I heard. Although Wade was hit through the artery so he was pretty much a gonner as soon as the bullet left the small of his back :(

  • @mcrmy988 the powder is actually for stimulating the blood to thicken and dry

  • lol lol lol -hey hold him lets beat the shit out of that nazi- aaahahah

  • damn this part was pretty decent and realistic one of ma fav's part

  • who ever dislikes this has no heart

  • Oh my god, my liver!

  • it would be soooo funny if Upam just fainted when they were trying to save wade!

  • I still don't get why wade didn't just stay back

  • @douchetree13 becuase he was a man, unlike upham.

  • why couldn't the sniper have spared caparzo and taken upham?

why couldn't the tank blow upham to bits instead of almost killing ryan and reiben?

why couldn't the nazi SS stabbed upham on the staircase?

why couldn't some bullets have passed through that cow and riddled upham's chest?

why couldn't upham get caught in the crossfire while he was running to mellish?

upham is the worst soldier ever. throughout the entire movie i was crossing my fingers for him to get killed. this movie'd be better.

  • 3 people are natzis

  • Upham is a coward, he messed up for everyone else...

  • @laksemann O really? Well, I'd like to see how YOU'd react when you're just a translator and all of a sudden some strange people put you in a situation where you don't know anybody, where everybody first hates you. Upham had never fired a weapon before, he said so to Miller when they met so actually Miller could've known that Upham was gonna be too scared to do something.

  • Comment removed

  • @AnnaWenninger Just in basic training he fired a weapon, not in combat.

  • Comment removed

  • @SyntheNeko ...?????

I know what they're saying in this scene. Read my comment first before giving a reaction on it!

  • Mama...mama... i wanna go home.. i wanna go home..Fuck, i cried!

  • @revboy75 made me think how i cud die in the corps and how my mom would be devastated

  • @revboy75 I know. Me too. That is heavy. That.....is one of the saddest things Ive ever seen.

  • I feel man

  • That is the Face of WAR.

  • The saddest death scene I have ever seen.

  • he's liver is ripped, he's not gone make it

  • 3 nazis were like "Damn you american! didn't kill you fast enough you bastard!"

  • That was so sad when Wade said "mama come home" cuz he never had that special time with his mom but now he won't see her. I cried so much

  • this scene when wade dies is so sad. he spends all his time helping other soldiers in the movie and then he gets shot. i tried so hard not to cry when this movie came out, there are so many sad scenes. I also agress with that comment about upham, he was chickenshit. im sure war is scary but the whole scene with upham standing at the bottom of the stairs while mellish is getting butchered sucked big time.

  • i just noticed the german soldier they let go was the same one that killed mellish and cpl henderson later and is the same one that upham kills at the end

  • @vashfrosamurai Nah. He's the same one who kills Capt. Miller, but Mellish was killed by another Nazi.

  • The medic was my favorite... This scene is soo sad

  • hey... that's daniel faraday!

  • I didn't even tear when I saw Wade die.. I balled like a baby

  • Anyone else think that saving private ryan would have been better if....

    Upham saved Mellish

At the end when Miller is shot, rather than keeping his eye's open, they close

And at the end when Ryan is instead walking along the line of graves of the squad that died for him, he turns and asks someone if he's lead a good life and rather than it being his wife Miller steps foward (so the shot dident kill him it just made him pass out)?

  • @MrDrPanic

It would have been a happier ending, but that's not what the director was aiming for.

There is no happy ending in war. War is cruel.

The site of watch Cpt. Miller give up and allowing himself to get shot. Fatigue and stress does that to you.

Huppum was not a combatant. He didn't know how to fight.

  • @pvtjamesryan3 Yes i guess your right, although it would of proved a point about conquering his own personal fear and to be fair with the kind of advantage Upham wouldent of needed training (The SS guy would have been to focused on Mellish to notice someone coming up behind him)

+Miller dident allow himself to get shot, he ran for the detonator to blow the bridge and Steamboat Willie gut shotted him

  • :´(:´(:´(:´(:´(:´( chudácik :(

  • @kincse95 i dont care if you speak english or not just shut the hell up you dumb ass you think it's funny for someone to die like that id put you up front and shoot you to see how funny that would be for you it's freakin sad

  • :´(:´(:´(:´(:´(:´(

  • @kerranghighvoltage

Let me shoot you in the gut, you pussy. See if you can "hack it" and "die like a man". I'm betting you'd cry like a schoolgirl.

Oh - and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that your YouTube page sucks worse than the world's entire collection of retarded Weeaboo MySpace pages.

  • They should leave the medic behind so he can fix the injured after the battle, they should take that bitch Upham instead in battle.

  • Jackson sound??? I not heard...:/

  • I cried at this part ;(

  • @ZoombiezFTW

I did't cry, but was paralyzed/slackjawed for that ~3 minute death scene. I would've loved to have been able to cry but i'd never seen a movie death like that, in the context of the whole film, with the interrelationships. All I could think about was the earlier scene where Wade talked about faking being asleep when his mom would come home. Switch back to the scene - then he calls for his mother right before succumbs.

Okay *now* I've got something in my eye... must be the dust.

  • upham you noob thats suppous to be a sniper under that scope

  • Isn't it true in the old times, you were'nt allowed to shoot a Medic during a war on the battlefield??

  • @SANCHEZisTheGREATEST thats why they were kicking the germans ass after he surrendered

  • @MRclmarshFTW

I agree with that, but also I believe that Wade was a valuable resource to the team because he was a Medic, and knew how to deal with the medical issues within the war. But also, anybody would do the same if their buddy just died.

  • @SANCHEZisTheGREATEST

You weren't supposed to, because of the Geneva Convention ( the same rules didn't allow medics to carry weapons btw), but in war it often happened anyway. I personally think that shooting the medic is one of the worst things you could do.

  • @VoorbijDeRegenboog

Yeah thanks for that information, nowadays, you can't tell the difference between an army Medic and a normal soldier, beside the fact that he carries a medical kit, that law has been wiped out.

  • Upham's the biggest bitch

  • @SANCHEZisTheGREATEST thats what his character was supposed to act like. so if you think hes a bitch and hes supposed to act like one he did a good job didnt he?

  • @rocklord27 The actor did play a great job, but I'm saying in the movie, he was a bitch

  • @mcrmy988 I am a medic, I've personally never seen that before, but since the movie is based on WW2 (1939-1945), I guess it was an old substitute for pain killers I guess. Not too sure though.

  • @SANCHEZisTheGREATEST

Upham was a Linguist . not a combat soldier. he's a rear echolon soldier with a week combat training. i thought he did pretty good.

  • @jackass127 Yeah true, but if you're going into war, you've got to be ready for this kind of stuff, no matter what position or rank you hold.

  • This film differs from all the other war films because the deaths seemed so real yet so worthless... in other films you know the deaths are fake, in this film you forget that they're fake... really the only film that makes me feel this way

  • i would beat the peice of shit who shot him then shot his balls

  • i cried when wade died

  • the US would be run by the Nazi's if we didn't win this war. War is terrible, but unfortunately, it's a necessary evil. There will ALWAYS be war. There is no escaping it. I wish there was a way for everyone to coexist, but when you have fools like the camel-fucker Osama Bin Laden, who use religion to justify killing innocent Americans, it proves that there will always be hate. Therefore, there will always be war.

  • @leftoverblake yeah there is a saying "If you want peace prepare for war"

  • i would have shot the german straight away

  • "I wanna go home..I wanna go home." That get's me teary eyed every time. Quality scene from an amazing film. One of the best ever.

  • amazin film, scary. omg they look so sexy especially private jackson yum.

my grandad couldnt watch this film he said it was to life like! (was in ww2) R.I.P xoxox

  • This is my favorite movie but I can't watch it often because of scenes like this.

  • @kerranghighvoltage Doesn't he ask them to put him out of his misery by giving him the morphine? He starts doing the whole "momma I wanna go home" thing which I hve to admit is kind of funny after he's high as a damn kite.

  • I cried so hard. when wade died

  • i cried at every single soldiers death in this movie, especially jacksons and wades. this is acting at its best,. cameras were made to capture moments like these.

  • Wow, i never cry while watching anything like this. Neither does my dad, but this scene got us both. Kudos to all the actors, especially Giovanni Ribisi.

  • Best. Acting. Ever.

  • 3:24 FART?!?

  • :(

  • can u imagine the amount of pain he would be in, a large machine gun bullet, just one though right in the stomach. you dont even die right away you die in like 5 minutes of slow agonizing pain. this guys a true man. there arnt alot worst ways to die then this

  • Wade says

I could use a littel more morefin...they give it to him knowing it will kill him

is the same thing that shooting him in the head to stop the suffering

  • @Nostro200 Idk i got 2 viewpoints on this. I'm not arguing with you in anyway but i feel it would take more Morphine than that to overdose someone (but i could be wrong i never touched the crap) and maybe they felt bad for wasting all that morphine on one person when there supply is limited. It's like on Band Of Brothers when there in the Arden Forrest.

  • Was it really necessary to caption a box around his face halfway through the vid? lol. we know who's dying XP

  • what part of "put some pressure on it" did they not understand

  • ok i know im gona get serious heat for this but hear me out please... i belive this movie should have been rated PG 13 instead of R (pause for afect) now you ask why. ok its because there are movies PG 13 that KIDS watch that have little or no blood so that makes them think oh gun doesnt do that much damage. How many kids would there be who want to shoot guns if they saw wht they could REALLY do like in this? idk please reply and give me ur thoughts.

  • Guys us as Americans have mostly grown up being taught that the us is the good guys. Neither germans or Americans wanted to. They had to. We are brought up being taught that the Nazis were completely evil and we are the saviors. It's not like that

  • @WeezyWackRecords Thankfully some people such as yourself make it through schooling and have the common sense to see the truth behind all the lies. Another one that bothers me is when people assume that any German soldier in WW2 was a Nazi.

  • @kerranghighvoltage you are the most insensitive asshole ever how would you feel if you where shot in four different places

  • momma, momma, momma, i wanna go home..........

  • @kerranghighvoltage Because in Omaha beach the allies looked way superior right?

  • Oh my god, I always cry watching this scene, Wade is one of my favourite persons in this movie, and I just can't stand to see him die:'(

  • i hate this part because

    1. when wade dies the sun comes out

    2. he gets his liver shot open

    3. a nazi shot him and they let the nazi go. the same nazi kills the captain.

    4. wade is whimpering and crying and saying he doesnt wanna die

    5. wade dies after he gets some morphine

    6. they shouldve killed the nazi

  • one of the best scenes in film history!!!! ;(

  • Those nazy soldiers throwing the grenades back looked so realistic.

And Upham's squad throwing rocks with the grenades to confuse and trick the nazy's xD

  • One of the sadest and emotional scenes i ever saw :'(

  • The tactic was to have a lot of moving targets all at once. It works but someone would get hit.

  • I LOVE WADE ;D

  • when he dies the sun comes out thats the saddest part

  • this would actually be like one of the most painful ways to die. aside from burning or being slowly dismembered this would be so bad

  • its right for that german to kill wade but its not right to kill the person who kill wade... bullshit

  • @BeanieSkater Neither is right...

  • Why do they give mercy to the German if he hekoed kill one of their closest friends thats too much mercy if you ask me but kind :'(This is by far the saddest scene apart from the Jewish person getting stabbed that gets to me :(

  • @chopzyride Because thats how everyone feels when they die, no matter who they are fighting for. Nobody deserves it.

  • @chopzyride Why end a life when you can spare it? Two rights don't make a wrong.

  • @ROONTANG Don't you mean "two wrongs don't make a right"?

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 Yeah, that's it! Silly typo.

  • 1 guy who watched this was a nazi

  • @LandTorpedo69 actually 3

  • @LandTorpedo69 4 damn germans
