  • im sure if you also get a super fluid that is also magnetic. like murcury, then you combine these technologies, in someway to keep that super fluid at maximum speeds then you would have the beginings of a flying saucer!!!!! maybe...

  • For really long term storage, this might be efficient from a purely electrical perspective, but how long will the coolant last before it has to be refilled? I've heard liquid nitrogen is about as cheap as milk but how long does the liquid nitrogen last in the system before evaporating?

  • @johnb003 its actually much cheaper than milk, only $0.06 a Liter and it lasts for only a few minutes

  • some physicists predict that the future of energy storage is storing and discharging magnetic fields instead of electricity.

  • why not use comressed air tanks for energy storage. they are lightweight and can last for many years.

  • @unvanquishableone they are not as efficient

  • i would like to speak to the patent holder, i have a few ideas for distribution and improving function for production

  • Magnetic energy restore system to make electricity can go on all day, and all night 100% way better than solar panels or wind turbines.

  • Imagine the possibilities of superconducting coils - Energy transfer with minimal losses across vast distances, memory storage with huge life cycle.. And probably much more... (not free energy)

  • bring a fluorescent light bulb near the superconductor when it has a closed infinite loop charge, see if the electric field from the coil lights the light bulb from the infinite electric field emitting from the coil, if we tap off of the electric field does that cause a decline in the amount of stored current within the coil itself?

  • How much energy is required to keep the cryogenic system online during continuous half-load operation?

  • I don't find your shit to be very convincing venomousbird. For instance, the russian Topol-M uses a much simpler gas-turbine engine with lead-acid batteries, but can easily make the SMES into an instant pipe-dream because they can fire multiple warheads at once, like a shotgun. The Topol-M, being so simple, can easily be mass-produced and shipped off into the third world!

  • This tech is already being used on satellites, which have much higher energy density than this model. Why aren't we using them in cars? Because there is no profit to be made in such efficiencies used by the average person.

  • This is THE solution to energy storage, gasoline and lead-acid batteries are hideously outdated. We aren't being offered new solutions because of the military industrial complex. They would rather kill people than help society advance. I look forward to the open source work of amateurs replacing them as the cutting edge.

  • this unit reminds me of american superconduters power serge units that do the same thing, store elecity in D/C form and release it in slowly or all in one berst.

  • at what point (magnetic field density) that the ordinary matters start to collapse?

if you continuously put charge into it, would it open a wormhole?

  • You'd need to worry about the device exploding long before that happens. Huge Lorentz forces are created. If the temp of the conductor comes up too high, it would also smoke the coil.

However I believe this tech will replace batteries for most apps. With the toroidal magnet, the external magnetic field is pretty low. Now we also have solid state cooling devices.

  • HHAHaha no way !

Matter collapses under gravity not magnetic field .

Also , energy densities in black holes are infinitely greater than we can achieve by simply electricity .

To create a black hole you need a particle accelerator and/or a nuclear reaction to back it up .

That is in theory , in practice is even harder ( if ever possible practically ) .

  • i read some papers that warp travelling might be achieved by creating wormhole with super-intense magnetic field.

we are talking a mangnetic strenght almost unimaginable here.

i believe, like extreme low and extreme high temperature can change how matters behave, so is magnetic field.

  • Warp hole could be done with Gravitation not Magnetism ; you make a big confusion between gravity and magnetism .

  • do not presume to know everything...

just because you haven't read them do not assume those articles don't exist.

    try googling...

  • Google does not replace the physics courses you should have done in school .

You confuse science with fantasy .

  • No...Google doesn't replace your physics courses, however, your courses don't necessarily encompass all and everything physics.

    Try Googling: Wormhole Propulsion

  • Wormhole is Gravity based not Magnetic based , even in theory . Stop confusing one another !

  • Have you ever heard of TOE or Theory of Everything?

What is TOE? Is assumed that TOE will unify all forces know to man in the physical world.

    Those forces are:

strong force, weak force, electromagnetic force, and gravity.

Therefore gravitic phenomenon could be achieved with electromagnetic field manipulations.

  • That is not even a theory , it's hypothesis , or even less , just fantasy , we cannot know for sure .

Until demonstrated , be real and stop confusing one with another , please , ok ?

  • Big bang is also unproven.

    Do you believe it happened?

    M-Brane is unproven.

    Superstring is unproven.

    Higgs boson is unproven.

I think it is you who got confused.

  • Yes they are unproven , and they may never exist . What is your point ?

Stephen Hawking concluded Higgs boson is an ilusion . Please separate Science from Science Fiction .

  • once upon a time, scientists thought electromagnetic wave travelled trough space by means of aether.

lord kelvin mentioned once that everything worth discovering had been discovered.

even in the more practical field of applied electromagetics, people had assume multipath interference is something to be avoided. now we have MIMO that exploits that once thought to be a problem to enhance channel capacity and range.

now we have meta materials, nano structures that do wonders, almost like magic.

  • That is no argument to confuse Science with Science Fiction .

What you say is similar to Jules Verne's cannon that propels you to the moon .

I'm not against big ideas that someday may become true , but generalizing them in such an opportunistic way may create a lot of confusion amongst non-scientific people .

  • On the contrary...

I'm trying to show you that science is not made of dogmas. There are competing ideas about how the things works.

Just because some said A doesn't mean B is science fiction.

If some present a mathematical model for faster-than-light information propagation, then I wouldn't consider it science fiction, even though it against Einstein's postulates.

  • You have to understand that magnetism , superconductors , and all our discussion started of , exist at this moment .

On the other your Theory of Everything is a big fantasy ( at this moment , at least ) .

Stop watching Stargate or Eureka and start learning some physics .

You never know, maybe you will become a great physicist some day ; after all , Stephen Hawking and Einstein were not brilliant as students , only truly passionate .

  • I've watched one episode of Eureka. It disgusted me with their silly science.

The only Stargate I've ever watched was the orginal movie with James Spader.

I however have watched all episodes of ReGenesis and Farscape.

  • Good for you .

  • As if I need your advice or endorsement...

    Ha..ha..

  • @andrei128 Only a fool would say that he is omniscient on a subject... Just because you can recite what you have read in a textbook, does not mean that you know everything about physics. Technology that was considered SciFi 100 years ago is reality today. Theories or hypothesis are just theoretical or hypothetical. Don't discount something just because modern science says it is impossible. There is no reason you can have an opinion but he can't.

  • Creating a parallel between Sci-Fi movies and reality is not a reason to by-pass some well-defined physics principles such as conservation of energy .

You can't create energy out of nothing . You can only transform it . The Theory of Relativity ( Einstein ) was a consequence of the energy conservation principle after all , by transforming matter into raw energy . Energy is transformed , not ``produced`` .

  • they are most likely to exist, even if they dont they allow us to advance easier.

  • A google search of "elevator return energy", found that modern elevator systems in tall buildings do have special drive mechanisms that generates return energy when the elevator is going down. Thus, the complete needed technology for storing residential solar energy in a special heavy-concrete-weighted solar energy storage elevator is already available. The "overall energy" use for tall building elevators is very small ( just the cost of resistance and inefficiency ). No explosive hydrogen.

  • trader0108

"have special drive mechanisms that generates return energy when the elevator is going down. Thus,"

    Thus,???

"Recovering energy" is not a new technology. What is the tech advancement you allude to?

  • Superconducting batteries for electric cars. Nice.

  • electric airplanes too. super

  • But I like their lattest NEDO better. :)

  • How much? + Could it handle the load of, say a lightning strike? You see i need to build a sub orbital electrically powered flight vehicle, pronto! Just need something to store lightning in and off i go! ;D

  • Sounds easy enough to me, I have been researching this tech for quite a while and believe it will take off (literally).

  • Flight with super-capacitors &/or superconducting batteries- man what a time to be alive! I googled and found out i live in the most lightning prone area of scandinavia (!) 177'000 (ground) lightning strikes here last year, so i really feel this force of nature isn't getting the attention it deserves. Just imagine, a single lightning strike could supply 1,21 GIGAWATTS of electricity and even charge a flux capacitor!

  • I am curious where you got your calculation of 1.21 gigawatts from a single lightning strike... that seems a little high, but then again that is speculation on my part. I believe Nikolai Tesla had a theory to harvest energy from the air. Similar to harvesting energy from lightning strikes, but just pull power from the particles before they produce lightning. I can't explain it very well... it is a little above my head (just like most of Tesla's theories)

  • "Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?" BTTF-1985

  • What are the costs of the system?
