The so-called Gdansk Lenin shipyard is located on the property of the Schichau Werft and Danziger Werft German shipyards.

That which is claimed as Polish is not Polish.

This city is so German in character and should always have stayed as part of Germany. In the 1930s, Poland wanted to the annexation of Danzig into Poland and that is why the phoney war started. 97% of the people who lived there in 1939 were German. A German city beyond question and only annexed into so-called Poland so Stalin could expand the USSR.

The expulsion of Germans by Polish communists and nationalists is a crime that must never be forgotten.

The city is completly re-stored and re-builded after the war Germans started, Poland had nothing to say about the Free City as it was a separate stte, which was the first booty of nazis, annexed in 1939 to the so-caled "Germany".

Lets not forget the citisens of Gdynia, the first expellers of WWII.

stevedn1. Go back to school, some1 have missed a lot of history lessons. Gdansk was Polish since begining of this country. First we lost it when teutonic order atacked but we took that back after 1410, when we beat them. Then Gdansk falled into german hands in 2nd partition of poland in 1793, and it schould be polish after 1918, instead of "independent city" So dont call it a german city, cuz its not!. Learn history dumb child...

The Polish złoty is the strongest ever - so don't expect anyone from outside of Poland to invest in this overpriced dinosaur. Most likely, it'll end up a museum.

This is not the reason. Shipyard signed few deals for building ships some time ago, not considering the huge rise of steal etc. prices, then there was no demand on new ships and now, when there`s already demand, they`r in big debts.

I`m afraid that some people would want to make the price of shipyard lower.

That dock was a birthplace of a solidarity campaign that challenged the ruling communist party. Well I think that solidarity, welfare and social democracy is a miserable misuse of socialism, to manage capitalism in a soft way, and pretent that's what socialism and economic security is all about. It proved that the capitalists could end the welfare state by globalization.

I asked what "socialism" and "economic security" were allegedly all about. It sounds like if it has "democracy" in it, you won't call it socialism. If you're reacting so negatively to social democracy, I then have a lot of admiration for it.

Actually I use democracy to target the social democrats, since their idea of socialism is capitalist in nature. Socialism is using capital to increase the capital that others possess. Capitalism the opposite.

Solidarność wasn`t a political party with one economical or political programme, that was just a trade union, which turned into 10mio movement. Shipyard should be privatisated long time ago, even workers want it, but politicians... are idiots.
