@ssmi636 Love this also. However this song is from the Jackson 5's last motown album "MOVING VIOLATION" They had not changed to the "Jacksons" yet and Jermaine did not sing on any Gamble and Huff tunes he stayed at Motown and G&H did not write for them until they left Motown. Glad you enjoy this song/You have good taste!!!
and btw...if you go see THIS IS IT, I think everyone can agree that such a production was waaaay more creative and just out of this world than anything Mike couldve done with his brothers....a show on that kind of scale, complete with energy and theatrics to boot, had solo MJ written all over it! Ok I'm done now :-)
I've already seen This is it. It was promising to see that he was finding his form again. He seemed in much better shape than he did in 2001 at MSG. I loved that he was going back to sing more songs live again as oppose to the disappointing HiStory tour and MSG. However he still lip synched some of the songs like Thriller. He never lip synched on the tours he did with his brothers. Those days were all live and raw. The tours with the brothers were less contrived and more spontaneous.
I agree. MJ is an amazing live singer, so I too was disappointed whenever he would lip synch songs. But I always gave him the benefit of the doubt; I dont think MJ would opt to lip synch if he could help it, but I think as his disease slowly progressed over the years it took a toll on his body, including his voice. He never did reveal just how sick he was. All that molestation foolishness also took a toll on him. Nonetheless, he always gave his all in his shows, as much as he could I guess...
The energy level was higher as well. The only time I've seen Michael reach the same energy level was during the Bad tour which was an amazing tour. I was very happy to see that This is it would have been a great tour don't get me wrong. Michael still had IT. However the large scale production and theatrics is not what it is about for me. I found most pleasure to see and hear him sing Human Nature. And the improvised ad libs at the end of I just can't stop loving you was just amazing.
Don't need no big scaled production or theatrics to get that. But even if his brothers would have joined him for this tour they could have done it with theatrics that so many fans seem to admire. During the days he toured with his brothers there wasn't technology present for that kind of spectacle.
Michael and Marlon were my favorite two. Michael is the shit but I think Marlon was underated he is a excent dancer they all were. Back when I was a kid Jackie, Tito and Jermanie were way too old for me then good looking but too old. I thought Randy was a little doll!
Hell no that's Jermaine and Mike, they share the lead on all of the song on Moving Violation their last album for Motown. Now Marlon thought he was gonna get some of Jermaine's shine but it was Jackie who sung with Mike on those Jacksons albums.
ur right....marlon def thought he was gonna get jermaine's shine when he left the group...randy thought he was hot stuff too when he joined the brothers...those two to me are the most annoying jacksons...especially during the victory tour era....RIP MJ
Nah Nah my friend! Randy (who played the bongos throughout the song), replaced Jermaine, who had already went solo... Marlon leads, Michael is actually background vocals here. Jermaine is nowhere on this album. Look it up!
nusylrae, you should look it up...this is J5's last Motown albume and Jermaine's last album before the split...The album is called Moving Violation and was releasd 1975. In 1976 the brothers released an album on Epic called "The Jacksons" where Jermaine was a no show.
@willjarmon It actually is Jermaine doing the vocals with MJ on Body Language. Marlon lip synched the vocals when they were on the Carol Burnett Show because Jermaine had left the group.
@columbia81 atually i was referring to Breezy, but clearly on Body Language "Shake ya body, mighty body its body language" that was Marlon but on Breezy Jermaine sings the main lead Micheal does the hook
nusylrae...This is Jermaine and Marlon. Jermaine and Michael were the co-leadsingers of J5. Marlon, Jackie and Tito got a line here and there in a few songs but this is pure Jermaine and MJ classic. Best vocal duo ever and forever!
Michael was never too interested in getting back with his brothers. From what I've read, their mother Katherine had to do a lot of persuading to get Michael to do the Victory Tour with his brothers.
Michael had his own career. His solo success wasn't waning in the 90s and even if it was, Michael always knew it was within his power to make it big again.
I agree...as much as I love MJ solo as a live act Michael was always better with his brothers. MSG 2001 was no exception. The Bad tour had to happend and it was right because it was Michael mania back then and the public demanded 100% MJ but after that he never repeated that energy again. HIs best tours were all the J5 tours, Destiny second leg (wich included Off the Wall songs), Triumph (best tour ever), Victory (Jermaine back) and Bad of course.
hmmm I have to disagree....I love the Jacksons, but Michael was too unique to just stay in the R&B realm. As a solo artist thats when he really grew musically; lyrics became more complex, music was even better arranged and was an innovative shift from the oldschool style of J5 to the more contemporary style of the 80's and beyond....and as far as energy on his tours goes, MJ ALWAYS commanded the stage!! He was great w/ his brothers, but he always out-performed them....
Each to his own but I respectfully disagree. MJ's best albums as a songwriter were Destiny, Off the wall, Triumph, Thriller IMO. After that comes Bad. During this period of time he also composed a lot of great songs that never got released or were released by other artists. After that he didn't reach that peak level as a songwriter as often as he did earlier. Sometimes he did though, like "Stranger in Moscow" which is one of my favorites.
Baby, you got honey love, it's sweeter than candy, yeah. Man don't nobody know nothing about that except you and me. Moving Violation was the shit album, baby (1975) last album on Motown, try to find it now. Easier if your hunting for Bin Laden.
actually mrs mj2007 i owned this very album so yes it was out i was 15 fo r sure i remember this song and all the songs on this album i still love them all.
.... i got you on my mind Laid my heart right on the line Like a mirror in the sky Love's reflecting in your eye ... love it !

@bebreezy93 I know I thought I deleted that comment. On the Variety show Marlon sang most of Jermaine parts though.

Why didn't they reform the Jackson 5 in the 1990s? Michael's solo success was waning, and he was no longer so big as to not re-form the group.
If the rolling stones can still tour, so could these people (who are still younger).

He should have done tours with the Jackson 5.
I personally liked the Jackson 5 more than his solo career (of which almost no post-1985 song appealed to me).
