  • you really cant comapre rugby to football i played both and i believe you get hit harder in football because you just run into people there is no technique but rugby is more physicaly demanding because of all the cardio and lifting people off the rucks i love rugby but still think football player get hit harder because of recklessness

  • I am american and i agree rugby is so much better than football

  • not many players in american football will make it in rugby alot of them are just too fat

but i garauntee many rugby players would make it in american football

cause they are really fit and there constanly moving

in gridiron they have like a minute break after every tackle

  • I played 7 years of football. Then was introduced to rugby. I played till I was 46 and then it took age and cancer to make me hang up my boots. I would trade all 7 years of my high school and collegiate football for one more glorius rugby season. Yes in a heartbeat.

  • hey dont be dissing american footbal, i am canadian and i play american football for my high school and regional team, and i play for my provinces provintial rugby team, i love both spports, i love the contact and i love crushing kids, but really i only started football to keep my in shape for rugby, rugby is my fav sport, real men play rugby :)

  • I've played both sports, one very competitively more than the other and I'd say that both require a serious amount of toughness. But, you will never see anywhere else in the world the class of athlete that you find in the NFL, and if you took the best of them you would find that the rest of the world can not compete. The amount of people who can run 4.3 second 40 yard dashes combined with the amount who can bench press upwards of 500 pounds/squat upwards of 6-700 pounds is unparalleled.

  • @Lindquist94 world strong men have played rugby, and get owned! rugby is a game of heart! its not the dog in the fight its the fight in the dog. im only 218 pounds but knocking out 300pound guys warms my heart. there are great athletes in NFL, how many have the heart to play rugby. americans talk alot about big guys being dominant, how big and strong someone is, and how much someone benches. big chest isnt going to stop you from being knocked out or worse fatigued! fast guys are good though!!

  • If any one doubts the abilities of the american football player just do a search for Barry Sanders. That man would have been in any country's starting 15.

  • nunca en sus vidas se cruzen con Punta Rugby (?)

  • anyone see how/who is binding on the Hooker from the 2nd Row ?

  • @welshpenguin noone from the second row should be binding onto the hooker

  • Rugby = The game for all body types. Love it.

  • 1:13 hahaha lol

  • mike cron is the titties

  • the nz scrum can't even think about beating the Pumas'.

  • just ahhhhhhh look at the last several tests

  • sif u guys will

  • Dan lyle , Richard tardits , Hodges ,and a few more Rugby players came from NFL after they left or got cut from the teams. Are there any rugby players in NFL?? It was said that the most a player gets paid in rugby is about a million dollars? It that fact also? I just asked cause I don't know.

  • HAjahhjahHHAHAH.....

u gotta be kidding me. who's this guys you said, a football player cant shy in the rugby world.

But if you put some players like Pierre Spies, Richie McCaw or Jason Robinson, in the NFL they'd become Football Stars.

  • I read once in a magazine that if you sum the payment of 100 top players of rugby and soccer. Rugby win for about 5/6% but only counting their club salaries...

  • then u cant read

  • there are no former nfl players playing professional rugby. they're two completely different sports. salaries in rugby vary. the top players can usually expect a couple of a million dollars a season not including sponsorships.

  • Who?

  • they tried to buy lomu for linebacker

  • that hit is just incredible

the strain on the props bodies must be so so so high at international level

  • thats why NZ are the best on the planet at what they do,total hardcore, they make the rest look like gay boys.

  • u cnt imagine the power comin out of that scrum

  • football (soccer) is OK 2 play but BORING to watch.

they say its played by thugs, they act like fairies, some1 trips them up they act like they're dying

  • crackedup001, i've couldnt agree more!!

  • Soccer? Get real, ,its called football for a reason: You KICK the ball around for MOST of the time. In american football, all you do is wear pads and try to modify rugby. Pussies

  • couldn't ave said it better myself

  • "its called football for a reason: You KICK the ball..."

Actually, it's called football because you run around on foot, rather than on horseback.

Back in the day, the nobility played their sport on horseback eg polo, equestrian, fox-hunting etc, and commoners were left to run around kicking or passing a pigskin to each other.

    Foot-ball, foot-soldier, foot-path etc....

  • chris jack, what a man

  • actully you are wrong you tend to stop about every 30 seconds to get into a scrum, line out, and/or penalty so you are wrong and i am on your side rugby is way mor fun but football is also becoming way popular worldwide and almost every sport is playd world wide

  • O.o what kind of rugby are you playing? we usually have about 3-5 minutes without a penalty or line-out and rucks all over the place...

  • american football is the pussy way of playing rugby

  • forwards condition more than backs? please

  • American Football players are PUSSY they need padding where rugby players Don't need tht shit it's just constant hard hitting so You yanks do the math ? which ones better.

  • American Football or Grid Iron, as many other nations call it, has many differences in rules for contact. You don't have to wrap tackle, headbutts and leading with your head are legal, and leaping into the air to make a catch, expect to be blasted, because it's legal to get hit while in the air. These are deemed dangerous play in rugby(and are in any sport). Rugby chose to outlaw these dangers where as American football chooses to embrace these actions and selected padding to protect the players

  • When american footie first started they used no pads, eventually some players started using leather caps and soft pads to protect their heads and shoulders, wait a minute, isn't that what approxomatly 60% of rugby players do now, use protective padding for protection, to prevent injury and enhance their longevity in the sport? I've played both, and do prefer Rugby over the latter, because rugby demands a more well rounded athlete.

  • AMEN crs208, finally the first intelligent post I've read on Youtube about American football vs. rugby as opposed to rugby players just calling NFL players pussies AND vice versa. THEY ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAMES: Players in the NFL would die every week without helmets getting lit up on a deep pass, just as rugby players would get killed if there were blocking allowed in the game ie a lot more openfield blindside hits. I play rugby and love it but I will never call an NFL player a "PUSSY"

  • Glad someone else has the same feelings. As a former football player (10 years) and a rugby player new to the game...both sports are tough. But they are DIFFERENT! Nothing compares to the conditioning needed to be an effective forward (sorry backs, keep tending to your hair) in rugby, not soccer/football, not basketball, nothing. And even with pads, meeting a 113 Kilo man head on after a dead sprint from 10 yards away is far more painful than any rugby hit I've taken.

  • @crs208 good reply. my seniments exactly.

  • @crs208 Yeah there's a difference between padding on the head, and padding all over the upper body and legs.

Oh my god, I might get smashed when I get tackled, I better where more padding that is actually necessary to make sure it doesn't hurt. Whats the point of them working out and getting hugely muscular if they need to wear padding over it? Fucking man up!

  • @crs208 The reason why rugby players use leather caps is that when they go into scrum they dont want their ears teared off.....and the cap doesn't help at all for protection of head

  • @crs208 dude you can lead with your head in rugby what are you talking about? where did you get this fact. you dont have to wrap in rugby league.

but there are no safe marks in rugby league, there are in AF. There are big fights in Rugby League all the time in rugby league, there are near none in AF.

you can get knocked out with an exposed head more easily than someone with a helmet. knees, shoulders and hips to the head result in many concussions.

  • @rajantolani orrrrrr american players as myself are smart enough not to go out and just wreck ourselfs as rugby players r just goin out tryn to break every bone in their body....

  • I have a feeling SA,Aussie and NZ would still rule the rugby world even if it became the most popular sport in the US.Although they would no doubt be a rugby giant,I just can't imagine rugby being played any better then the way the Southern Hemisphere teams do at the moment.

  • Listen , they did the same to soccer , NOTHIN HAPPENED

  • now THAT is silly. I'm imagining Maurice Jones-Drew at hooker, Vernon Davis at #8, Devon Hester on the wing!?! PSSSSHHH forget about it those guys would own any sport they played (of course only if they played it their whole lives)

  • elvago007 i think ull find that hurling and gaelic football 2 native irish games have more passion than rugby and football together!it is an amateur sport...yet most players train up to 4 times a week, are as fit as if not fitter than a lot of professional sports people and they have full time jobs at the same time!

  • I'm sure there's a lot of passion in those sports, but for american football in the US (particularly in states such as Texas and Florida) kids as young as 15 years old spend 2+ hours a day training and lifting 6 days a week.

  • Americans can't play any team sports apart from the ones they make themselves!!!

  • I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The main reason the U.S. doesn't field stronger soccer/football and rugby teams is because there is currently no money in it. If the people of New Zealand values their dominance in rugby, they should pray that the U.S. doesn't embrace rugby the way it has football and basketball.

  • What do you mean no money in it!! LA Galaxy paid a 100 million pounds for David Beckham. You do have a football team it just sucks because people aren't bought up playing football. Rugby will never become the number 1 sport in the US so you can't say "if". You could say the same about India and China. If they embraced rugby in the same way New Zealanders do then think how good they would be with a billion plus people.

  • The Galaxy paid ONE GUY a ridiculous salary. Check out the average salaries for MLS players. On the whole they don't come close what NBA/NFL players get paid.

And you think the amount of people in a country is a good determinant for how sucessful they'll be in sport? Your India is a great example; how many Gold Medals did they win at this past Olympics? The reason the US and China do so well is (pay attention) because of the efforts and resources they put into cultivating the talent they have.

  • Its money. Thats why they win. The US being the richest country in the world has plenty of it! I agree with you that US dominates the Olympics (more so than china). However, look at India and cricket. There are one of the best if not the best team in the world. For example the IPL. India put millions of dollars into that and if it did the same with rugby or football then they could become a top rugby or football playing nation.

  • Actually they are a very poor country who own over a trillion dollars. Their progress is at the cost of debt to other countries and businesses.

  • lmao beckham isnt worth quater of 100 million

  • Did i ever say he was?

  • nah but u were more or less boasting that usa are full off money but no1 cares lmao

  • yeah because the usa is full of money but they put it into sports that no one else plays internationally .

  • you're right no other countries play basketball or baseball... might want to think about that one

  • Yes they play it but they don't have huge leagues like the nba or whatever. No other country plays American football because FOOTBALL is much better. Basketball is a decent sport but i find baseball and American football stupid and copies of other sports.

    but hey thats just me.

  • i think that when you say FOOTBALL you mean soccer, the grass-fairy sport. i'm sorry but i just can't get into a game where the scoring doesn't get higher than 3 very often and there is no good contact(except for the occassional headbutt)

  • Clearly only a minority share that view because football (soccer) is far more popular world wide than American football. I do agree though that a majority of footballers are pussies but thats where rugby comes into its own.

  • loads of countries play basketball

  • i agree, but im just so happy that the US are to politically correct to put such a physical game as their main sport

  • Check out the stats when Rugby was an Olympic game. USA collegiate players dominated the world at rugby during that time frame. Don't ask what happened over the past 80 years. lol

  • @crs208

There were TWO teams in the 1920 Olympics and four in 1924. None of the top teams were represented (France was still developing at that stage).

  • @crs208

There were only two teams in the 1920 Olympics. The worst they could have done was a Silver medal...

  • I'm from Argentina and I love rugby - it has more passion than any sport ever invented, including football (soccer)

A Football Team: 11 guys pretending to be hurt for 90 minutes

A Rugby Team: 15 brothers pretending not to be hurt for 80 minutes

  • dude no doubt.

"A Football Team: 11 guys pretending to be hurt for 90 minutes

A Rugby Team: 15 brothers pretending not to be hurt for 80 minutes"

    thats the fuckin truth.

  • Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen

Football is a gentlemen's game played by thugs.

    Thats the Truth.

  • @elvago007 que bueno tu comentario para los que jugamos rugby y intentamos hacercelo llegar a toda la gente para que siga creciendo que bien...

  • @elvago007 Absolutely right, brother!

  • yo fuck you soccermasta, first of all soccer is gay as shit, like soccer = gayness and secondly not all of us americans are assholes :)

Rugby > Football any day of the week. Really football players, talk shit, all day, cause you know inside which is more badass, and thats what pisses you off the most.

OH and great movie, holy shit, those guys were in complete unison

  • Im from Canada and i love rugby! i play on my high school rugby team and we are competing in provincials this year and this is an intense video of a practice with the all blacks. I love it. But i do need to say that rugby has allot less injuries than football (american) because it is controlled. Football isn't as controlled as rugby is. So football players need more pads to protect themselves. And i also wanted to say that soccer players are pussies. but Soccer fans kick ass. i love the riots.

  • I AGREE I am From Mexico and I love Rugby I moved to U.S But Where I am Living at Hardly Anyone know what Rugby is

  • I LOVE their form - backs flat enough to eat off of, eyes up (not the whole head up), and using their cadence to drive the scrum together. BRILLIANT

  • play both and decide

put rugby players in football pads

i play both here in nz but have yet to decide which i prefer we had three ambulances called in 5 games of football and only 2 all last season of rugby ...... check my vids im trying to get into arena football2 as an international player???

  • This just proves how uneducated and ignorant most Americans are. This is why I'm not necessarily proud to be American. And from playing rugby, I say its 50 fucking times harder than football and all around better.

  • Whoa...this guy is by no means 'most Americans'. Rugby is the fastest growing amateur sport in the US, people are getting bored with American football. The US is the sleeping giant of rugby.

  • Yeah, you should honestly chill on that. Most americans are now being able to see that there are others sports out there besides football, as an conference standout for football I too say that rugby is harder but I enjoy both just as much.

  • everyone lets just agree that rugby is tough and american football is tough but soccer will always be a pussies game :D

  • I'm American & I love football, not just as a spectator but as a player (linebacker). Yet, I now play rugby & it is definitely a more brutal sport that also requires better conditioning. You feel every hit so much more because you have no pads and you don't have blocking. It has become my favorite sport ever....those that bash rugby as being less "tough" than football have never played...and this is coming from somebody who's played and loves both sports

  • The All Blacks are just like Brazil in Football, when they face a small team/country they smash it, but when it comes to a big team/country like France...

  • Haha, that must make Ozzies like England of Cricket... THink they're good but really just horse shit.

  • i'm Ozzie but that has to be the funniest thing I've heard all day.

we have 2 world cups under our belt so i'm not gonna have a cry.

  • haha

  • Fucking losers.....another 4 more years we have to wait

  • fuck off rugby kicks ass

  • hasnt been on the site for very long

  • It was a joke (Quip), meaning all the teams in the world have watched this clip for tips.

Meaning they are watching how the All Blacks get down :)

  • indeed, go SA

  • All Blacks Forever!!!
