Korea is the real deal. They aren't going to make the semis again, but they can make it to the elimination round certainly.

Their FIFA ranking is low because they play in Asia against mostly weak competition. But they beat 3 FIFA Top 25 teams in the past year or so.

Korea in 2006 WC didnt do such a bad job. They were kinda unlucky to crash out of the first stage despite a decent record.

Dont forget Lee chung yong. I think he could be better than park js. He took beckham one on one and beat him.I think Park CY is great but he's a playmaker that sets up goals, not scoring. The reason Korea doesnt have a great striker is cuz in korea u have to respect elders, where as ronaldo can take any shot he wants. Even jisung and chu young cant take any shot on the korean team. Korea should bring back Seol or Ahn cuz they can take any shot and the players may not like it but its for the team

Korean soccer may not be in the highest of levels but they ARE slowly making their name known around the world. Like wilki said, give the korean national soccer team a few years and you'll see them progress and grow as a team quickly. You should keep in mind they probably have more team chemistry compared to other teams since in fact most players on the Korean national play within K-league and most of em playing with 2-3 fellow players of the national team.

Korean learn, and progress at things very quickly. Just look at soccer, and break dancing. Korea is now always in the top 3 in break dancing competitions, most of the the time #1. Hopefully this will be the same w/soccer too.

Aside from park ji sung the Korea team is relatively mediocre talent-wise. This is coming from a Korean. Remember, we're talking about the WORLD CUP here. Park Chu Young is OKAY, he's not GREAT like some of you claim. He is not a World Class striker by any means, not even close!

I agree. The biggest problem that Korea has, is that it lacks a top striker. Park Chu Young is decent, but not great. The defense is solid, but there is only so much you can do if your offense lacks the ability to finish a game. The team is young though, so if they can progress well in the next year, I think they have a shot to make it far in 2010.
