  • They gear their product toward the miles you car is able to go on without ever needing to check your oil up to 25,000 miles. They also claim that you will gain 2 or 3 miles per gallon on your fuel.

  • I use walmart oil. Its the best.

  • The problem with sludge buildup most likely has to do with the oil filter being clogged. With extended drain intervals, the filter must be changed often. When using a paper filter like Fram's, the oil is full of 30micron or smaller dirt particles.

When switching an older vehical to "Synthetic," engine cleaner should be used with a couple cheap filters. Then put in the oil with a highquality filter, that cleans below 15microns.

  • I've been recommended Wix. I use them in all my cars. Do you recommend them? I've heard Fram is terrible.

  • I use wix in my superbike, because Amsoil does not sell a filter for my 2006 zx6rr.

  • Mobil 1 is better.

  • Mobil 1 is no longer made with pure chemicals. In 1998 Castrol Syntec created a new process called Hydro Cracking. They simply refined petrolium oil more, and called it "Synthetic." Exxon Mobil sued castrol for false marketing, and the judge declaired "synthetic" a marketing term, not based on its components. Now Mobile 1, along with 95% of all "synthetic" motor oils on the market are petrolium based. Amsoil is group 4, Poly-Alpha-Olefin, 100% true "synthetic."

  • Example. Lucas Oil, and Royal Purple, are some of the worst motor oils on the market.

Learn the facts for yourself. Be informed.

  • You seem to be pretty knowledgable, but I've heard of problems with some serious sludge buildup in the engines.

Do you think AMSoil is the best?

  • The TBN level of oils are a good measure of an oils ability to keeep an engine clean. The TBN is basically an oils ability to neutralize acids in the oil, a by-product of combustion. Amsoil has a high TBN.

Yes, I think Amsoil is in the 2% of best motor oils available in Canada or USA. Redline is also great product, but more expensive.

  • lucas oil sucks....as for royal purple, I heard its overrated.
