howard how can i save a logo as an .ico file???

If you image is example named icon.jpg, just change the file name jpg or any othe type just to .ico

I would have used Marquees, I think it would be much easier+accurate, no?

Not if you're keeping it vector. Marquees cannot subtract from vector shapes. If you're dealing with a raster image, then yes.
