  • LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP THEM COMING!

  • question these engines are expensive, why are they being left to ruin outside?

  • great video!

  • Nice video!!

But you forgot that the CSD get`s also some air......by the way, what type of J79 do you have at your shop??

  • @AgentJayZ:

I fully agree with those whom commend you for offering these informative looks into gas turbines. Lots to learn and lots to watch. Question: How is it possible to organize your videos by subject? I'm hitting the 'inside look' clips on a hit-or-miss basis. Thanks!

  • @StormyMaxPerry I agree this is a bit of a problem. Both because I am making these vids as I can, and because YT is not really set up as an encyclopedic list by subject or sub-subject.

    1) I am not a studio, and I am but one particle in orbit around the nucleus , helping to define and embody the atom that is S&S Turbines... I do what I can when I can, so there is not much organization except what I can put into the titles.

  • @AgentJayZ one thing i notice is the apparent lack of power hand tools..? thats a LOT of bolts and nuts to manipulate 1/2 turn at a time..

  • @StormyMaxPerry

    2) YT does not really allow one to organize videos into directories or folders, so what I've done is try to do that in my titles.

So far I have four loose groups: the Closer Look series, which are for gearhead entertainment; the Jet Tech series, which are actual training videos that will teach you skills; engine tests, that are not tied by anything; and random fun stuff, also not tied together.

Try searching for Turbine Engines closer look, and you'll get all that group.

  • @StormyMaxPerry One more thing: type in whatever you're looking for, but add fsj (Fort St John, where we are), or S&S ( S&S Turbines is the company name). I try to put those tags on every one of my videos.

  • @AgentJayZ Thank you, I was curious about that. Keep up the great work on the videos, there really cool.

  • Thanks again Jay. Please keep them comming Bro!

  • Thanks JayZ.

  • Great vid and technical info!! Very imformative! Thanks JayZ!

  • Very Cool Jay! Now anti-ice isnt really used on LM1500's is it? Although if it were hot outside and real humid would ice be a concern in an LM1500? Somthing else ive been curious about, the 2 halves of the outer combustor case surrounding the liners, i see the 2 halves bolt togather as one would expect. Now clearly shown in the VSXE video there are also saftey wired fasterners that parallel the seam between the 2 halves, can you expalin that?

    Thanks Jay!

  • @mytmousemalibu Some industrial installations have plant-supplied warm air to the intake to prevent ice formation, if the weather at the installation warrants it.

The fasteners on the combustor case, well they pass through the splitline, and attach a lengthwise C-channel which covers a pair of inward-pointing ridges, one on each half of the case. This piece both clamps the two cases together and seals the gap against air leakage.

I'll try to make a short video of it today...

  • awesome as always, thanks for having explained ;-)
