Wouldn't a CVT torque a Verter or something have been simpler? I put a 6.5hp engine (removed the governor) in an old Jawa/CZ 175 and used a TAV2 CVT, it works great. It is surprisingly fast too, roughly 70mph and still has pretty good acceleration.

Very impressive project, you are extremely resourceful and the swap looks well executed. That bike has to be a real head-turner for a guy who follows vintage motorcycles!
Hi. I found this engine in a mates shed. He bought it in a auction many years ago. They are very rare and collectable now. I have seen them appear on online auction sites from time to time. Good luck.
Hi. I used an A100 gearbox. It is only a 4 speed. The thing with the KM3 is that in standard or only slightly modified form they have a small 'power band'. They are nice and torquey down low but run out of power at the top. The A50 5spd box would be great, you can play around with the final ratio to find some top end speed but still have a few low gears to get it going.
Very cool, i have just bought a KM3 from trademe for this exact purpose putting it into a 3/4 scale cafe racer. Does the A50 gearbox ratios work well with the KM3?
I split the crankcase and removed the crankshaft. I machined up a shaft that runs on bearings that the crank did. One end had the primary gear that drives the clutch and the othe end had a toothed gear fitted. I used a Honda balance shaft drive belt off a car engine with the same toothed gears to connect it all. I hope this makes sense, I will post a photo of the set-up.
Cheers, I enjoyed building and riding it!. I tried a standard bike needle slide carb but found it hard to tune with fixed size jets. It ran and tuned easier with a Tillotson HS series diapragm pumper carb (15mm venturi). You can adjust hi and low speed mixture with a screwdriver.
The engine revs alot harder than standard but breathing is limited by restrictive internal porting and design.
Awesome, you did a good job on it. Does it wind up really good? What size carb did you use? Suzuki missed the boat, instead of building the RE5, they should have built small bikes like this.
