The edge of a diamond wet saw blade is not sharp like a wood blade. Profile blades work nice for granite and marble that have the grain in the product, the porcelan tile inner material will show and may not be the same as the surface, then you just have to polish the curved surface and apply sealant. I always cut tile with heavy metal music so this dance club music is kind of strange. The thicker blades can be used with a thinner arbor washer.
Thanks for providing your videos as resource for ideas. I want to buy a profile blade for my target saw but wasn't sure how it would work with ceramic tile-your video is the only place I found that someone profiled ceramic instead of just marble or travertine, so thank you for paving the way and reassuring that it is possible to profile ceramic tile as well as other types. Great Job!!!
@spcgloc - most of these blades will fit on a tile saw with a 5/8" arbor (the part of the saw that holds the blade in place, essentially). most tile saws, especially the bigger sized ones, will have a 5/8" arbor and this is a pretty standard size for most tile saws. The main thing you want to look for is the bolt length that holds your blade in place since the blade will be a bit thicker than a standard blade, and also the width of the groove on your sliding table that the blade fits in.
Did you have to preset the blade to a certain height or is the blade shorter for this purpose. The other thing I get nervous you changed the blade without actually pulling the electric lead out. Although you are not going to turn the machine on be careful. I always pull plugs out when I change blades on anything. My brother changed a diamond blade on his grinder and accidentally hit the switch and cut his wrist. Lucky it went 2mm. But you know what I mean.
