It would have been better if this role came a few years later when Hogan had developed his promo style (especially his voice) and had a director who let him do more of his own thing...too bad this acting part was the peak of his acting "career" and gave him such a big head. I mean he seriously thought he could make a living at it and he was always terrible...
@shootbinary have you noticed how much more massive and heavy sly looks in more modern movies like Rocky Balboa, and the newest Rambo ? He is thick and still has the definition, He looks way stronger and in better shape than hogan dose these days, if they were to do the Rocky vs Thunderlips scene today i dont think it would have the same visual effect.
@Derby14 right, glad you agree.. When i saw Sly in the last Rocky a few years ago, i thaught he looks massive, but then when i saw him in the last Rambo, he looked like a damn monster, tall, buff and thick. Then i look at Hogan these days on TNA, and on tv commercials,There is no way Hogan is 6' 7" 300 lbs, Hes a big dude, but he looks so much smaller now, maybe 6' 3" 275, a lot of his definition is gone and hes gotten slow. Sly would mop the floor with him today.
@Dukesfan1980 Hogan has lost some height due to cartilage damage and spine deformation. A result of wear and tear from the ring and probably steroids as well. Back in the day he was atleast 6'6".
@Jonwood74 when most wrestlers get older, they do seem shorter because of back, knee, ankle, and hip damage, but still lots of people say that back in the older days promoters stretched the truth a little about the big guys, lots of people today argue about Andre, some people say he was really 7 foot even and others say 7' 4" or 7' 5" was the truth, and ive heard some think Big John Studd was really 6' 7" instead of 6' 10".
@Dukesfan1980 Yeah I'm aware of that but I'm 6'3" and have stood near Hogan and he was taller than me by atleast 3 inches. That was back in the day. I really don't know how tall he is now though. But if you compare footage of him standing next to mcmahon in the '80's and then in the 2000's you'll see he has shrunk considerably unless Mcmahon has grown lol.
@Jonwood74 speaking of Mcmahon, what do you think about that new story line last week when Vince was about to fire Cena, then HHH came out and told Vince that the WWE board had a meeting, and they all voted to make Vince step down, and HHH was voted in as his replacement to take over the company.
@Dukesfan1980 I think anytime the wwe has HHH and Vince in the ring they're better off. I'm sure Vince will be the boss again soon enough. I'm not up to date on wrestling scoops these days so I'm not sure if CM Punk is really gone....Is he? If he is, it sure was an interesting choice to have Cena lose to him. Controversy is always good.
@Dukesfan1980 Just to make one more comment on the Hogan height issue...back in the '80's Hogan was always listed as 6'8" 302 lbs. Atleast that's what the Madison Sq. Garden programs always said. So if he was really 6'6" then that would not contradict what you said about them boosting stats.
This is very cool to see. Look at how Hogan absolutely dwarfs Stallone!! We're so used to seeing huge guys in wrestling these days that I think sometimes we forget about how Hogan was such an attraction in those days due to both his charisma and his tremendous size.
Hogan actually raped Stallone and that's why they were never seen to hang out again, even thought Hulk said they are good friends. He inducted him into the HoF because Hogan called up and threatened him with his 24" (radius) python (again).
rocky is the worst fighter ive ever seen on a technical level.. he lacks all fundamentals they teach you when you first start boxing.. if this was real he would never win a fight..
@selig7 "cant have your cake and eat it too". If they were to put a REAL fighter in the movie, he wouldnt have been able to act. Ever seen the movie 'drumline'. I was a drummer like those guys, and i tell ya, they all SUCK.
Thanks for posting this, mate. I was about 12 years old when this came out (1983)? This movie really put Hulk Hogan on the map; the Univeral map. I was such huge fan of his after this movie, and followed him ever since. He practically reached "mythological" status with kids back then. Beauty..............
good fight. what I wanna know was that really stallon pickin hogans big ass up at the end when he thoug him out? If so I gotta give him some props, Hogan's a big boy......Hulkamania!!!! 4 Life
hogan dosent look so huge infront of average people in hogan knows best but why does he look so huge infront of stallone?? how tall is stallone in real???
Hogan was about 6-7 or 6-8 then, while Stallone is about 5-9. So it's about a foot difference in height. Hogan is supposedly only about 6-5 now due to leg injuries/surgeries, while Stallone looks a little taller than 5-9 because he wears lifts in his shoes all the time.
@VigisKane Ain't that something? And here I always thought that Andre really was seven feet tall. He was closer to 6'7 or 6'8. That would explain the size difference between them all. Sly was always considered short, but he was average being about 5'9-5'10. I grew up on wrestling so I always thought all of that was real. Ah, the ignorance of the young.
@thelordmemnoch Andre was definatly 7ft or over in his youth but he couldnt have been 6ft 7 cos when he fought Hogan at Wrestlemania 3 he was quite a bit taller than Hogan and he was 6ft 8 legit
@thelordmemnoch Andre was around 7 ft tall. I know they bill the guys in wrestling a bigger than they are. They had Andre at 7'4". He might not have been quite that tall, but he was close. I'll give you a good example. Remember when Big Show came out? He was around the same size as Andre. Well, there's a clip on here of Big Show vs Shaquille O'niel, who stands 7'2", and they're pretty close to the same height. @bandit7498 I don't know, it's hard to tell. Terry Bolea claims to be 6'5" and he wasn't that much shorter than Andre. Then again, he did shrink in his old age. Andre was measured by the French athletic federation and he was 6'10" and he shrunk to 6'7"-6'8" after back surgery. Big show is the same height too and don't forget that most of them wear lifts from time to time. Andre being 7' is not true at all. There is no way that he could have been that tall.
@bandit7498 I just say the Big Show vs. Shaq. It sure does look like Big Show is 7 feet tall though Shaq is very powerful looking compared to Big Show. It's tricky getting the height down just right.
@thelordmemnoch oh yeah, no doubt. I would just venture to say by these simple comparisons Andre was at least 7', maybe a tad more, considering Andre was probably a little bigger than Big Show. So don't let the mysteries of your childhood escape your imagination just yet. lololol

I just want to let you know your right and wrong because it was Vince McMahon that fired Hogan but it was Vincent McMahon Sr that fired him not Vince McMahon Jr which is the the current CEO of WWE.
The "LEGEND" of wrestling. Hulk came along at the perfect time.........There never was before, nor will there ever be again a wrestler who captures the attention of people world-wide, especially kids. He was bigger than life. He had the charisma, the "look", and the "it" factor which only comes around rarely. The greatest professional wrestler of all-time, bar none.
I loved this part in the film when hogan is walking towards the ring and rocky says to his trainer" why is he been carried and his trainers reply he's not he is walking"
I truly love this movie!! This part was a good reason why. It was action packed and yet comedic. Rare for a third version, IMHO, to out due its forefather.
hulk hogan was surely a beast back then! for all those hogan haters, they gotta look at his old vintage wrestling days where he could actually wrestle.
Funny how we can see stuff like this on youtube but the studios won't release special features for the movies on DVD except for the 1st and last Rocky movies. Fans want more...
I just wish I'd heard those priceless words come out of Rocky's mouth: 'Hulk Hogan, we comin' for you Nigga!'

I'm disappointed to see this. I saw the movie when I was 13. All these years I thought they were really fighting.

Its a shame hulk hogan became a grumpy over protective father.

SO TRUE!! his son made a guy totally cripple , and he feels no remorse for the guy while all the time all he cares about is getting his son off!!!

Hulk was a 6'6.5", 321 pound chunk of steal back then! And the man could move well for a monster!

"At the right time, in the right place and for the right money, I'd even strange my mother."

Ha! Hogan didn't use his gravelly "Hulkster" voice back then. During the rants at the beginning he sounds like vintage "Superstar" Billy Graham.
iedodger 3 years ago
he was doing the same voice, I just think over the years, doing it so much his voice changed.

I loved this part in the film when hogan is walking towards the ring and rocky says to his trainer" why is he been carried and his trainers reply he's not he is walking"

He'd strangle his mum? Nasty man.

I truly love this movie!! This part was a good reason why. It was action packed and yet comedic. Rare for a third version, IMHO, to out due its forefather.

It was a good film but Rocky II beats it.
As does Rocky IV.

he sure loooked younger then.

hulk hogan was surely a beast back then! for all those hogan haters, they gotta look at his old vintage wrestling days where he could actually wrestle.

He sure was a beast in his day.

Funny how we can see stuff like this on youtube but the studios won't release special features for the movies on DVD except for the 1st and last Rocky movies. Fans want more...
