@MrTaang supposedly it doesn't mean terrier. Although a German breed, many believe pinscher to be either from the english language or french as other dogs that are not terriers have pinscher in the name. Some believe it to be associated with ear cropping or because Dobermans were used much like terriers originally, and its the behaviour they are named after aka as ratters, guarding farms etc. Will anyone really ever know lol! No where has a clear answer about it : )
