Hey did you get a pregnancy from this mare in the end? ET is only just becoming available in New Zealand and at huge cost is isnt viable for a lot of people yet- extrememly interesting video - thanks for sharing!
I hate to be critical, but I am an ET tech and we do this every day during breeding season on average of 8-12 flushes a day.. Howcome the tech doing the washing cleaned the mare from anus to vulva instead of vice versa? Also, there was still alot of Smigma on the paper towel too..
You are absolutely right, but there was a LOT of editing done on the original vid. I guess we removed some essential parts. but the vid wasn't meant for experts in particular ;)
Wow......that has got to be the neatest vid I've seen. How often do you check? And was there an embryo found? I do hope you can keep us up to date. Thanks so much for sharing.
This is very interesting, Jeroen. If you had found an embryo, was a recipient mare located, or would the embryo have been preserved until a transfer could be arranged?
Thank you. There was a recipient mare available. I had synchronised her with Jamaica. If I hadn't, I could have frozen the embryo, but this procedure gives quality-loss.
This is amazing! Please keep us updated. I do feel sorry for the mare though...not being able to carry her babies. Could she have done something to herself during her jumping career to cause this? hugs, Chris
That was such an interesting video. Please keep us posted on how she does. I really appreciate you making these wonderful videos for us to enjoy. Thanks once again. Beth
You have a very interesting job! I wonder why she is unable to carry her pregnancies to term? Did you find an embryo from her? Thanks for posting this! Amazing science this embryotransfer is!
Wow jeroen...very interesting video. I grew up on a farm, and i saw much of this same thing with cows. I would help with a similiar procedure by holding up the cow's tail to pinch off a nerve that seemed to relax them. That was along time ago. A lot of time i would have to help with a cow if, after they gave birth, they didn't pass the placenta completely and it affected milk development. Boy--i'm a lifetime away from those days! :) Great video...very interest.
Dr. Frankenstein is at it again! hehehe Just kidding...I am very impressed with your work. Have you worked with other animals in the past or has this always been your specialty? What would you do without Marek? Oh, and I think you should wear a surgical mask for us next time. lol Brilliant video! :-) Lisa

I hope this is the last video I see of a man cleaning a horse's vagina.
But then, this is the Internet.

thanks, Jamaica's endometrium is of very poor quality. I flushed her twice and haven't found an embryo yet.

Thanks Gary, now there you've got some scenario for a vid! The obstetrics-part of the job is probably the best part.
