It was pretty nice to see Seiji Ozawa shake Placido Flamingo's hand on the beginning and on the end, along with giving him a nice congratulatory pat on the beak as of saying "good job" to him for singing The Itallian Street Song", don't you think?
Placido Flamingo certainly did a great job of singing The Itallian Street Song and I believe the conductor who's name is Seiji Ozawa certainly did a great job of directing the orchestra, wouldn't you agree?
Ozawa, "world renowned, very good sport," conducts his heart out here, as he would any performance. What a great experience! You have to admire musicians with a sense of humor about their work.
That's for sure, and maybe someday I'll direct the orchestra if by chance I get some practice for that in college. In Music Class, I enjoy demonstrating that, along with how the instruments in each group are played, and at other times. So therefore, I would be glad to admire musicians with a sense of humor about their great work.
My mom and dad enjoyed and loved watching that with me last night after dinner, so therefore it seemed like a lot of fun as it did for which I saw it when I was a little kid as it still does.
Oh yeah. I remember this one well. Seiji Ozawa sure gives his musicians a lot of discipline. It shows. My favorite musicians in this are the sheep and the woodpecker.
Skits like this on Sesame Street were great ways to introduce kids to classical music on their level. This one took a lot of work, I'm sure, but they pulled it off so well!
If you know anything about classical music, have ever heard a live broadcast from Tanglewood, or seen Great Performances or any televised symphony concert, you will understand why this skit is so brilliant on so many levels.
Actually, several of the animals in the orchestra were used on "The Muppet Show"...the sheep, the two chickens (one of which is Camilla), and the cows.
Not sure why, but when the tiny snake hisses is my favorite part of this number. Anyone feel likewise?
