  • after all these years I always remember this song, I wonder why? I loved eurovision song contests. They were a real family event.

But not now, you cannot tell whos country is singing. The national identities have been lost.

The scoring is a joke too.

  • bestes norwegisches lied beim eurovision ever. at the eurovision it was

  • Thanks HatelronMaiden am pleased I am not alone in liking this one!

  • Thanks HatelronMaiden am pleased I am not alone in liking this one!

  • Hej, jo jag har lort i lådan!

    Great to see that again...

It has been popping in and out since...

Didnt remember the song, only the "jojk"

    ;-)

  • i ruined my keyboard trying to turn this shit off

  • Answering Dilettanten: the song got points because it had one of the most important messages a song that represents a nation can have: it spread the wish of Norwegian People to keep their land unspoiled. And after a small introduction, the message of a Sami chant was sung and sent... with no words... much before the "ethnic music" trend of the 90's. Wonderful moment. One of the highest ones in ESC history (although not easy to understand to many). Long live Norway. Hugs from Lisbon, Portugal

  • Hi from Iceland I hope someone here can help me. I have been looking for a few years of Eurovision on cd the years i am serching for are 1956 untill 1985. If someone wants to help me please feel free to contact me. Thank you

  • watch?v=pxvj0owK_w0

Skriv in dette etter youtube[dot]com. Skal dere se at joik faktisk også kan være bra.

  • wtf

  • hahahahha beeeste!!

  • I like reading both negative and positive comments if they aren't obscene. I don't care for the beginning of the song, but it gets much better after the beginning, and I like the song.

  • Is'nt there a saying, that if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all.

A lesson I think lots of people on here could learn. So you don't like it, move on! The rest of us do, and Norwegians at the time did and many still do.

If you have nothing better to spend your time than moan about a song from 1980...

  • This is very cheerful!!! :)

  • This song is completely dysfunctional, and I think it is a big mystery that it could get any points at all.

  • I just love the sami people <3

  • Vi fikk 6 poeng fra Tyskland, 4 fra Marocco som var med den ene gangen i 1980, 3 poeng fra Frankrike og 2 fra Nederland, til sammen 15 poeng eller en 16 plass av 19 deltagere.

  • Lovely - thank you.

  • det er ikke Ireland da din Wank;P

  • shit...blaaaah stupid :PPP

  • det beste bidraget EVER!!!

  • Hello Goodbye

  • And the only good thing to come out of Ireland, is alcohol. Aside from that you got what? The IRA and poor infrastructure? Please..

  • Um..Norway and Ireland are BOTH fine countries with strong economies strong people. joemanc70, allot of people are of irish descent and we ARE known for our tempers. And the people of Norway were the VIKINGS. Try not to say stuff like that, okay?

  • Absolut jerk!

  • Great, great song. A pride for Norway and their Samish people. Just the fact that it has found it's way to YouTube is evidence of sustainability

  • SKAM

  • I sang this in the backseet of my great grandads car on our way to Denmark. I sang it just behind his ears while he was driving, All the way!! (just the chorus) it mentally broke him down and he told my mum to get my sister and me to swop places and to keep me quiet :)

  • humaliton for norway.

  • humaliton for norway.

  • Maybe i'm the only one in Europe to think this... but I actually like this song, especially the second half, it's one of those tunes that sticks in your head & doesn't go away!I actually picked this as a winner!!!!

  • Hi Kev 241, you're not the ONLY one. I like it too!

  • myy god!! hahaah..im nor so proud to be a norwegian because of this song.hahaah

  • You should be! One of the greatest Norwegian contributions through Eurovision Song Contest.

  • SHAME!

  • FYI This song came 16th (out of 19). Finland came last - they have actually achieved this distinction more times than anybody.

  • This song is always played during programmes about Eurovision. I have to confess that without any knowledge of what the song is about, I have rather a soft spot for it. The second half is a gentle singalong, and I enjoy hearing it. I imagine some Norwegians gritting their teeth and saying "He has NO IDEA how offensive this song is to Norway!" - and the truth is, I really don't. I don't speak a word of Norwegian and can therefore only take this song purely on face value.

  • omg... så flaut

  • æ skjæmmes...!

  • I usually sing this song whilst pissed Drunk staggering home!

    Repulsive

This is CRAP!! Tenk å sende dette!! Omg!!

  • TilMinne: du skal være stolt. Det er et flot nummer som repræsenterede Norge godt!

  • Ærlig talt, skjærp deg a!! BEGREDELIG

  • hemskt ..

  • Omg, lame lame lame. Comes from a Nrwegian

  • Ok, I have obviously offended some by my comments. I just have a difficult time with this ridiculously silly performance. I am sure the Samii people have ballads which are far superior than this rot. Norway has some damn fine music and arts. My favorite composer Grieg. My favorite play Hedda Gabler. As an American, I know rot garbage when I hear it and see it. After all, my country produces more of it than any other country ever has.

  • Listen

    I understand the Norwegian language.

They sing about a people wish come from the hight north.

And then a Lappish man come, and then he sing.

Joik have greater power than gun powder.

Joik will never take the end. Lole lole loa.

    Sami Adnan.

A real funny song. Indeed. Difficult to understand for many.

    H. Larsen

  • This is some of the funniest shit I have ever seen. The people of Norway must really hate the samii people in order that they could make royal asses of themselves before the entire world. Is this a protest song saying No OLEO margerine or something. I am still laughing can barely type...HAHAHA ROFLMAOKOEO AND OABP...Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off, Knees off, Elbows off, and other assorted body parts. This so Tacky..god this pure garbage ..

  • I don't think it is meant to express how much they hate the samii people. He is not saying No Oleo, it's lelolelolelolololelola. Thypical Joik. I think it's more meant to show the sammi culture

  • Omg +__+'

    what can I say..

  • IKKE diskuter joik vist dåkker ikke vet ka d e engang, idiota!!!

Ser d står for mye drit hær...

Dåkker kan jo ikke si at d e dårlig vist dåkker ikke vet ka d dreier sæi om!

  • The samii-folk haven't always been discriminated. I love them :)

  • Say whatever you want, about the song being crap ( even I think it is) But this was a big political thing for Norway and the samii people.First time EVER norway voted for a samii song, the sami's have always been discriminated in Norway (much like the Native Americans)

  • This song is about lapp people, isn´t????

  • This is a JOKE: the clown on the stage is professional.

  • Well, this i called "sami joiki fanski" in sami-norwegian.

  • Heeah low low la.. hey Im sure ive sung this song at least once whilst pissed drunk...Jerks!!

  • Dude, this song is even more disturbing than you described! And what's with the elf costume and the contorted facial expressions? Bizarre!

  • HAHAHA

  • For some hardcore joik, you can type "joik" or "sami joik" in the search field.

  • This song is heavier than Napalm death!

  • Hold kæft hvor er den dårlig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1.06- love the jojk <3<3<3<3<3<3 xD xD

  • Oh, yes, you are so correct, Mr.mrbunglevids!!!

Greater guts has never been showed in all the years this contest has been held..:-D

Political statements were never what this show was about I guess..and B.T.W. they lost not only points, but the river was dammed and turned into a power plant as well...but admit it, this song sucks, may have been the direct cause...;-)

  • Er det Mark Hamill ?

  • Herlig klassiker dette her!

  • Hahahaha. They sucks x]

    And I am Norwegian x]

    LOL..

  • hoho, ja....

lurer på hvor langt denna hadde kommi i dag...

hvis folk hadde stemt, var det vel bare for at de lo

  • Christ, please do make us feel more embarrased...

  • Norway, Yaaaaay

  • one of the very first eurovision memories

  • one of the very first eurovision memories

  • This is pure brilliance! I love this clip.

  • We dont listin to this folks..... only in case of beer overload... sampi sucks

  • why not! good for them. I'd like to be at one of those Norwegian partys!

  • This one is a classic at parties in Norway! Hahaha, you've gotta love it!

  • hehe:)

  • Well.. at least its better than Guri Schanke.

  • SOOOOO TRUE! Guri sugde hardt!

  • This is way cool. King of Joik. To bad they didn't made it. The World wasn't ready for "Samiid Ædnan" They should have had a better PR team, maybe then who knows.

  • Hvilken plass fikk denne sangen?? (Kanke engelsk noe særlig :S ) How far did they get?

    Artet eai vuoitan

  • loool, you can hear how old it is^^ but his voice is good xD

  • genialt! monn iversens arrange, ent et ett av hans beste!

    bb

  • I don't get it. Why didn't this win?

  • this is what makes me embarrassed of being a norwegian! :S

  • Hey - you're embarrassed being Norwegian, I'm embarrassed being European (well, not proper European - being from Scotland and all that, but still...).

  • There are about 100.000 samic people in the world. 70.000 in norway, 20.000 in Sweden, and the rest in finland and russia :D

  • I am a sami girl from Norway . I'm very proud to be it !! :D Wish there was more sami people :D ( Mun râhkastan samer ) !

  • Música dedicada ao povo lapão (sami). This song was dedicated to sami people.

  • Apart from the important history lessons in the other comments, does any notice the similarity in the 'heya lole lole lole' chant to that of 'Hello Goodbye' by the Beatles? You know, where it goes, 'Hey-la, hey o hello-ha' at the end. You can even sing it along with this!

  • La elva leve! la elva leve! haha

  • Hahahaha

  • This makes me wonder why Finland never tried this trick at ESC, as there are lots of Sami people in Finland as well... And some internationally known Sami singers/groups (like Angelit). Oh well.

  • this is crap

  • Mattis Hætta ser så koselig ut.

  • it is one of the best songs in the eurovision.

  • I thought that was about Neutron bombs.

Anyway, I love this clip regardless.

  • You are wrong. I am a Norwegian. And this song is representing the Sami culture of Norway. The Samis are a minority in Norway. They came to Norway before the Norwegians, the same way the Indians were the first people in America.

This song you are talking about is the Finnish song once in the 80s, The Finnish song was about hydro-electric power

  • The sami people lived in the northern parts of Norway. We didn't have to kill anyone to get their land. So it's nothing like the americans. The sami has always and still does live where they always have lived. It's just that the vikings took the land and called it Norway...

  • Oh that's funny.... do you know how the early norwegians threated the Samic people? It really doesn't sound as if you do. Just like the romas (or tatere as some people call them), they were really opressed. Even today norwegians have problems seeing their flag on our national day. Go up north and see how they talk about the samic people up there. Norwegians tried to force them to speak norwegian only and dress like norwegians.

  • The samic people didn't come to norway before the norwegians. they came after and settled up north in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. It's not possible they came BEFORE the norwegians, since our forfathers (norwegians today) followed the ice :)

  • I did not say that we didn't treat samic people bad. I said that we didn't have to kill them to get their land. So we did not go nazi on them - to try to wipe them out before taking the land. And please tell me where in my comment before did I write that the samic people came first?! Seriously! And If you look in to what the viking Ottar tells us, the vikings didn't live longer north then Trøndelag. The samic people live around Finnmark.

  • Hehe sorry the comment about when the samic people arrived was for norskur not you ;)

  • The samic people didn't come to norway before the norwegians. they came after and settled up north in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. It's not possible they came BEFORE the norwegians, since our forfathers (norwegians today) followed the ice :)

  • The 1982 Finnish entry was about Nuclear bombs. This song was a protest against the building of the Hydro Electric Power in the Alta/Kautokeina falls. There were samis living in tents outside the Parliament in Oslo protesting about it, and this song was also a result of the same controversy.

  • LOL God bless the Eurovision Song contest
