  • This song always makes me cry I can't stand anyone who hurts and abuse's kids. We need to stand together and help these abused children

  • I was in high school when this song came out and it really hit me hard back then. I was with a friend at another friends house when the video came on. The guy whose house we were at started making fun of the video and song. I flipped out on him. He never did that again.

  • I originally saw this video on CBC's "Video Hits" back then.

  • this is the kind of song that makes me sad because i've been abused and raped all my life and still am to this very day

  • this is the sad is song i ever heard.

  • Watching this in 2011 :)

  • I am crying soooo sad

  • love her she so sweet

  • lmfao

  • @southplnk NOT COOL!!!!!!

  • horrible quality, but nice video.

  • This song always makes me cry. We need to help these children in abused families.

  • I remember when this song 1st started on the radio. It made me cry my eyes out. It's such a sweet and very sad song.I've been trying to find it on cd.It should be just as popular now as it was back then...

  • @blacksheepgirl I was abandon and beaten before it still gives me nightmares!!! I just can't believe people have the hart and gut todo that to a child or animal! It is just sick and wrong!!!!!

  • Thank you SOOOO MUCH! You'll never EVER know how much this means to me. :O)

  • Child abuse lives with you all your life. It still haunts me.:(

  • @blacksheepgirl be strong...you've beenstrong enough to make it this far.........

  • i have the real 1988 cd relese

  • I remember when theis came out, I was in foster care at the time.... its sad... and it's seems like it gets worse as the parents that are younger... don't want to take care of there kids... instead.. they turned up murdered or dispear from the home with out "knowing how"..

  • it came out in the 80's, the exact year I can't remember, it might have been the early 90's.

  • I heard this song when i was four.. it broke my heart back then... and still does now.

  • its so sad that millions of people kids and animals are abused everyday. They can die young.

  • lol this girl draws better than me!

  • this song made me cry the first time I heard it I work at an elementary school and look at those kids beautiful faces. If you are a parent love your kids not beat them they are not punching bags!

  • this song came out in 1987.

  • i saw this when i was a little girl and i cried eveytime i heard it because how can a mom or a dad beat their kids my mom would not let me listen to it anymore. i found it a couple of monthes ago and i hope everyone listens to this song

  • wow, you guys are sentimental suckers. this is a horrible song. probably one of the worst songs ever recorded.

  • i wonder why you find it so horrible? could it be that this song doesn't hit home for you? or maybe you just haven't add the misfourtune of experiencing what she went through? i hope that you NEVER have to. but fro me it tells my story almost perfect. so please don't dis a song that tells the untold story of so many

  • @elliotwibley oh shut up if we like this song we like it dont judge us ok!!

  • @elliotwibley

exactly...so calculated.. "Dear Mr. Jesus" yeachh!

  • @elliotwibley no it isn't. I bet it has saved lives. Take it from someone who went through it.:/

  • this song still makes me cry to this day..my girls are the most important thing in my life and to think someone could look into there childs eyes and hurt them is sickening..they should play this song daily to remind people what goes through a childs mind when they are victims of child abuse...i pray that one day this wont even be an issue..but sadly i know it will be...

  • 3 ppl are totall dick heads and realise what these kids go through

  • There are 3 child abusers out here who watched this video :(

  • we have made a doxology and this is the song..it is a super sad song!

  • omg i have been looking for the video for this song for ever thanks

  • ..and did you know these Little children grow up? The bad people dont think they will but Little children do & the damage is more than anyone should ever bare.

Sit with a little child who survived & managed to make it thru the dark years only to continue relive the trauma throughout their adult years.

I challenge anyone to sit with a surviving Little child now 40 years on thru a flashback as the HITS & the SCREAMS & the TRAUMA of those dark years continue to torment...could you bare it?

  • evertime i hear this song its make me want 2 cry but i love this song

  • wow i remember seeing this video when i was i think 4 or 5 years old and remember crying, and thinking this is such a sad song. me and my sister would sing this song when it would come on tv. and yes we need to stop child abuse NOW.

  • Its just wrong how people treat little kids like beat them. I would never even whip my kids if they got in trouble!

  • Thanks for posting this video minopqurs, don't know why this came to me so very strong today, but this video needs to be repeated and played right now, with the many cases of child abuse that seem to be growing.

  • Me and my sister Jina used to sing this all the time when I was little. In fact we recorded ourselves singing it on our dad's microphone.

  • I remember back in the early 80's, I heard a Child Abuse case in Akron Ohio, about a ladies, boyfriend beat her Son, to the point that he sustained injury and died. In Memory of Charlie Wright, 7 Years old from Akron Ohio.

Dear Mr. Jesus, came out around the same time. I heard that song and thought of Charlie and I cried. I got a chance to meet Charlie once, and I think of him, when ever this song plays or other Children, that have fell victim of Child Abuse.

    How sad...

  • I had the powerhouse tape when i was younger...played it so much the tape broke. I'm 26 and i cry each and every time i hear that song. Please we need to try to stop child abuse.

  • the only time they play this is christmas its not a christmas song

  • I am not in the least bit religious, but I know this song sends a VERY POWERFUL message. Child abuse MUST be stopped....at all costs. It's time people did something about it. The law does nothing but protect these fucking monsters! It's time this matter was taken into our own hands! Is there anyone that will stand with me? If not, I am NOT afraid to go it alone!

  • @undeadsavage I know what you mean, this has to be stopped!

  • this is the sadest song i herd :*(

    no child should be beated

  • I hate Child abuse to stop

  • i hate child abuse i want it to stop

  • i heard this song when it first came out, its always been on my favorites list, and i have a copy on cd. It's not just a x-mas song, its an everyday life song, stop hurting the children, they didnt do wrong, the parents do.

  • does anyone who the little girl is that sings on this track

  • @poundsounds2009, I'm not sure who the little girl was at that time, but if you Google it I'm quite sure her name will pop up somewhere.

  • @poundsounds2009 - her name is SHARON BATTS (6 years old when it was recorded)

  • @ThomasJamesAlford thanx a mill. great song we had something very similiar happen like that in syracuse ny. having a kid makes you think about why this world is so FU*^ed

  • @poundsounds2009 - i only heard it once on the radio, around Christmas 1987 ... i was a senior in high school, making a delivery from our Key Club drive to our local Salvation Army post ... it was already an icky day, and i heard this and started weeping and had to pull the car over

  • @latenighter1965 do yew kno when it 1st came out??

  • i feel like crying when i hear this song,it breaks my heart

  • That is such a sad song. I have thought about this song over and over again since i first heard it about a year ago and every time i think about it i feel like doing something about it, so i pray.

  • everytime i hear this song i get upset because its about a little kid getting hurt and there only a child they dont deserve to be treated... everyone needs respect

  • @beccaaaakk143 i was being abused when i was 6 by my STEPMOTHER.

  • I have heard this song so many years ago it tore at my heart then. It has passed through my mind so many times since. Even to this day it aches my heart to know that this goes now that Gods precious childern are hurting like this...

  • We all go through things, no matter what we are experiencing, it should never ever cross our thought to hurt a child especailly your own child. what kind of person would hurt a child?

  • @majesticstorm1 people who can not find god

  • Comment removed

  • people who are implying that it is OKAY for parents to abuse children and nearly KILL them because God is just putting the child through a "tough spot" are utterly ubsurd its not GOD putting the child in a tough spot it is disfunctional parents beating their child/ children black and blue my GOD Jesus Christ would NEVER put a child through this to "purify" them

  • @mikaylab9898 amen to that

  • @mikaylab9898 amen you r right

  • =[ sad song =]

  • what do the people say in the beginning?

  • I know this song is really sad and all,but God puts people in hard situations,it really makes me sad to see kids being abused, but stuff like that have to happen to us in order for us to be purified.

  • i agree and god does stuff for a reason it isnt always good but things happen and they are bad at times

  • I should know I've been through abuse.

  • Comment removed

  • What a disgusting notion to even entertain, that God or any god would put people through things like that to "purify" them. Bad things happen because of human action, not because God wills it to happen, sicko.

  • we are like clay,we need to be purify but for that to happen we need to be broken down and be put a lot.

  • Utterly absurd. To even think that God would require the horror and suffering of His creations to "purify" them is just a sick, misguided and disgusting idea. Suffering in the world is a product of human error in action and judgement. Any god who would require suffering of his creations is a vile and horrible tyrant. And if that is your God, I want nothing to do with Him, or anyone like you who subscribes to these sort of barbaric, backwards, moronic schools of thought.

  • i agree COMPLETELY with you!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't say it was okay for parents to abuse kids, what I said is that people go through things without knowing why,and this is one of them.

  • me too some people are taking it the wrong way

  • thank you for understanding 1313cutiegirl,you're the first one who didn't attack me for what I said.

  • This song popped into my head earlier today. I remember seeing it as a kid and thinking it was so sad. Very interesting to see it again.

  • i am very sorry for what you had to endure and i hope the people who hurt you were or are dealt with.

    this is heartbreaking.

  • thank god you were saved. i don't have any memories that young but can imagine you always will. are you still with your new parents? you being smarter doesn't have anything to do with it. i hope this is real because i am thinking of you. how old are you now? how is your brother? who finally saved you?

  • we just have to pray for all of those children and hope and have faith that God will carry them in his arms and just be with them. it is so sad though.

  • Dear Mr Jesus!! Why do my mommy and daddy keep praying for me when I'm very sick instead of taking me to the doctor where I can be better? Dear Mr Jesus!! Isn't that child abuse too?

  • some parents cant afford to take their children to the doctor.

  • County hospitals will see anybody who is sick or dying.

  • It is an eye opening song that is very True 45% of children are abused ..Why I loved this song it made my heart think

  • i loved this song wehn i was little, i wrote a story about it and the school thought someone was beating me at home, i was lucky and wasnt

  • r.i.p Jonbenet

  • this made me cry like a baby

  • jombenet ramsey RIP little angel

  • What really tightens my gut is that there are hundreds and hundreds of men and women who through some kind medical problem can,t have children while these sorry excuses for parents who,ve been given a tremendous blessing of having children and they mistreat them.

  • exactly johnnny10301968...some things i will just never understand...

  • its sad that this still happens. police do nothing but neither does the church. people think this problem is going to go away by itself. there needs to be an awareness revolution.

  • I'll never forget when I played this on the rock station I volunteer at as a dee jay. Got yelld at by the program director and the General Manager the next day

  • it's sad that the parents are still beating up their kids and it's not their fault it's happening. It's wrong and very hurtfull to the kids that they didn't do nothing to the parents. So.......STOP THE VIOLENCE........STOP THE BEATING.

  • Thank You very much for sharing this video...very much appreciated...what a story, one that can't help tuging at your heart.

  • I was young when this came out maybe 9 if I am correct of the year of 83, If I recall correctly was this song written for the little girl Jessica who was beaten by her father, and I remember something about a well, If I am incorrect on any of this again I remember being young watching this video and hearing the song. Now that I am 34 it still makes me cry to this day.

  • This is so moving. I wonder what happened to the girl in this video?

  • The song is about a 6 year old girl named Lisa Steinberg. She was basically beaten to death by her father, Joel Steinberg. He was recently released from prison. It happened in New York City just about 20 years ago. Google it. It's a sad story. I remember it very vividly because I live in NYC.

  • This song and video tells a story! It shows too how innocent a child is. Every child needs to be safe from harm and every child deserves a loving home!
