My take on this is that if ever a situation like one that came up in 24 happens today, and millions of lives are at stake, then the government should do whatever it can (with proable cause) to ensure that a terrorist attack dosen't happen. Yes, the techniques used in 24 are based on real intensive interrogation methods, and have been used on terrorists suspects. I don't like them, but if they one day save millions of lives, then they are justified.
