actually lol no tornado just a extreme low pressure storm the winds where up to 150 km so bout a catagorie 2 to 3 on the wind charts if i was slow moving may b a 4 would of defenitly intensed
it was a microburst....they r worse than cyclones. have the same speed winds (176km/hr at the gap), can produce hail, extremely heavy rain and theyre just plain insane
Looks familiar!!! I'm in Stafford Heights, and was trying to hold down some louvres on the front of my deck. When all 3 of them snapped off, i thought it was time to go inside. Dont get me wrong, i LOVE storms, but this was fucking rediculous.
Straight line winds... Fun to stand in. Had a phenomenon like this here in Western Michigan here a few years back. I was standing outside a Ford dealership with my buddies, leaning into the wind and having a hoot. A few minutes later we watched the roof rip right off the building and another GE health store across the street crumble into itself. Smart move taking cover... :)
I have to applaud you on your commen sense. You did the absolute right thing by having the window open on the side of the house that was on the opposite side of the house. Dad always taught me to do the same, this is so the wind pressures don't build up in the house, and gives you less chance of loosing your roof or windows. Smart move. Mum and Dad are at The Gap, they were on the Ashgrove end of Payne Road and got the edge of the storm. They are very lucky.
This was at Camp Mountain (area between Ferny Hills and Samford Village. The house came out of it ok thankfully but we were lucky, had the wind been blowing the other way the pine tree that collapsed while I was filming would have landed on the house and caused some serious damage
That was excellent footage! I would have been absolutely terrified! I have never seen anything like that! The wind looked relentless! Hope everthing is okay for you now.
