the brother and sister are not actully connect the feet together, they should be a comfertable space between the feet. only the shouldrs should be touched. in the hadith the sahabas only met thier feet just to make shure the lines were staright, just befor starting the salah. It is something that some of the sahabas adoppted, it was never commended by the rasul to make this practice of connecting the feet. and there are more rules relating how to stand in salah.
