Net result: higher atmospheric CO2 levels, for whatever that's worth. Water vapor is the at the top of the list of greenhouse gases.

No, burning fossil fuels releases carbon into to air, thus raising the tempurature and creating a more tropic climate globally untill a tipping point is reached causing an ice age. The CO2 level in the atmosphere drops at the beginning of an ace age due to not much being around to release carbon, and then rises toward the end again due to no plants to filter the air. The rise in CO2 again raises the global tempurature, thus causing the ice fields to receed. I'm out of room, you get the idea.

I am anti-McMain, but he is correct about ethanol not adding CO2. Plants absorb CO2, we ferment them to make ethanol, the CO2 is released when we burn the ethanol. The net result is zero added CO2. Fossil fuels are the absorbed CO2 of million of years of plant growth. Burn fossil fuels and you quickly release the CO2 that took eons to be absorbed by plants. Net result: higher atmospheric CO2 levels, for whatever that's worth. Water vapor is the at the top of the list of greenhouse gases.
