But really I'm wondering how fragile these wires must be made from glass which is quite brittle, and also qualitiy control on an amorphous solid which might explain the light inconsistency at :12. ?

Interesting talk. I have 2 questions :

1- Since nanowire diameter is less then light wavelengh, how the light is guided and transported within it?

2- why there are discontinuities in the fiber picture at 0:12- very luminous points with intense reflection and darker points ? Is it due to imperfection in fiber material ? Thinks
