  • can any tell me an diffrence between come and came ,,,,,,,,,i amke mistake some time ,,,,,,,mail me,,,,,,,,,hardikdave37@yahoo.com

  • @mrHeartydave

    Come=present

    Came =past

  • the noun in a passive voice sentence must always be in past participle?

  • @aleza03 NO, not the noun, the verb must always been p.p.

    Noun = person/place/thing/

    Verb = action word!

  • wow guys i'm don't know well english but you guys are correct. but is ok thank her for teaching people like me

that we don't not espeak much english.

  • WEll done

  • I m still learning and i dont understant why she wrote "lunch was eaten" the correct sentence is " lunch is eaten"

  • Hello,

you know, when the verb is in the simple present in the active, the passive voice should be formed as follow: the verb to be in the simple present+the past participle of the verb in the active, therefore, the correct answer should be: lunch is eaten

Thanks a great deal for your effort to help people learn English!

  • I;m eating lunch (..at the time, now )- lunch is being eaten ;) ( by me at this moment )

  • plz send me some useful website of English Grammar, composition, speaking etc.....if you know some of it.............Thanks in advance.........

  • Yes, U people are absolutely right...........the correct sentence is: The lunch is eaten.......

she may know about it but this time she would forget and don't concentrate to it......

  • we can say: I got a haircut or I got a haircut. Anyway I enjoy to watch her vidio

  • I think she is right all of you guys are totally wrong , because im learning ingles right now so everything for me looks good

  • I think she is right all of you guys are totally wrong

  • "I eat lunch" seems unusual.

  • that's nice ! what I looked for , for months , is a teacher who speaks slowly !

  • She is TOTALLY wrong! She doesn't care the tense when she writes active sentences in passive. She wrote I cut my hair, then, she wrote my hair was cut ,that's not right, she has to write, my hair is cut!

  • The way you teach is great !!!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't: my hair was cut by Bobby passive since the hair didn't do the action but was acted upon. Therefore it should be Bobby cut my hair?

  • Hi,

I think the passive sentence must be "Lunch is eaten", if not please explain why you use "Lunch was eaten"

  • Comment removed

  • as far as i know, if someone cut ur hair u r gonna say i had my hair cut.

  • hi anyone practice of each section of english add me on my skype id"sajjadhellokhankhan"

  • hi anyone practice of each section of ielts add me on my skype id"sajjadhellokhankhan"

  • you really suck!!

  • I had a hair cut

  • I think she is wrong. As far as i know. If the active voice is in present, the verb to be in passive voice has to be in present (am-is-are). If the active voice is in past, the verb to be in the passive voice has to be in past (was were). So, the active voice she wrote was ( I eat lunch) the passive voice has to be (Lunch is eaten by me). I hope not to be wrong about it.

  • NICE TEACHING

  • thank yoooooooooou

    my favorite teacher ...

  • Hello everyone. Yeasterday , on my ESL Grammar class I had passive voive. It's seems to me that the first sentence, which is " I eat lunch", after changing on passive voice, it should be looked like " Lunch is eaten". I think that because " I eat lunch" were written in the Present Simple, if we change Present Simple to Passive Voice, we must use: Subject+Be+Past Participle. What do you think?

  • @maksyn1990 anyway Great job with passive, thank you.

  • tommorrow I have passive and all tenses quiz! :S :'(

  • I think a teacher shouldn´t start a class saying that... "I don´t wanna teach. I´ll try"...

  • @MrDavid1958 What are you talking about? You can easily tell that she was kidding.

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • thank you ..

  • i think she is german .. she put a capital letter on a noun .. so this video is not reliable then ?

  • i think she does not look a native speaker ,she is wrong,

  • @khang1722 hcjhghk

  • Thank you so much for this comentaries, I thougth my english teacher at school was wrong.

  • She does such a fine job. And she is incredibly charming.

  • englishlesson madam nice explanation..........can u plese suggest me what to do to improve our grammer error detection skill.?.........

  • Comment removed

  • She is really good teacher ;)

  • esta profesora me cae bien porque no es seria, me gusta porque es divertida.

  • your first example "I EAT lunch" is in present tense, so passive voice is supposed to be "the lunch IS eaten" .... If it was "I ATE lunch" then passive would be "lunch WAS eaten" .... u used "eat" present tense in active but in passive used the past participle.

I think u need to check ur examples before doing the video ...

  • I LOVE YOU TEACHER !!!

  • Honestly ,you are just confusing people, your knowledge of the language is doubtful und unconvinced , you may be a native speaker but your grammar is insufficient and unsatisfactory for teaching an ESL class.

  • @phonicsquest Hey, here's a radical thought. Instead of dinging her, make your OWN video. And, should you answer that you have, then it's obvious why you are here.

  • Larsvanbuggenum please pay attention. She did explain about "Bobby."

  • this teacher makes a big mistake that she she is going to teach to our student plz pay attention to what she jots down on the whteboard:

    active voice:

    I eat lunch

    passive voice:

    lunch was eaten

this a big mistake the verb "eat" is in the simple present and thus "to be" must be in the present. so the transformation should be like this:

    lunch is (not was)eaten

another mistake in the sentence is that the teacher considers the word "lunch" a noun . "lunch" is a Direct object (D.O)

  • Very nice teaching!!!

  • hi can i ask something... Do americans speak wrong grammar sometimes? or they also study grammar?

  • @markdhen Grammar came to explain languages for learners of non-native speakers! a native speaker doesn't need to learn grammar! there are some cases in which grammar can't hold the subtlety of a language!

  • You're very charming. I can't stop smiling while watching you teach. BTW, I cut my hair myself and do it not bad. Electric clipper facilitates the process immensley. )))

  • i just wonder, how can you cut one hair? maybe "My HAIRS WERE cut"? or "hair" can not be plural?

  • @silverwaterz you can say hairs were cut. But when we talk about getting a haircut, we say use hair as a non-count noun

  • @EnglishLessons4U she's aiming at explaining the grammar not the pragmatics or the semantics of the sentences!

hair is countable and uncountable she's using it there as an uncountable noun! that's why she refers to it as singular!

  • @silverwaterz she's aiming at explaining the grammar not the pragmatics or the semantics of the sentences!

  • @silverwaterz I think she is wrong.

  • for sure not, the sentence was in simple past; the lunch was eaten is correct.

  • u r amazing

  • @ 4:00 Wrong!! lets take sentence "The ball was kicked by the boy". This is "PASSIVE" although you know WHO did the action, "the boy". Active would be "The boy kicked the ball" .

  • if someone hears about "passive" first time in his life via this video he will get very confused. Why dont u delete it and make a new one?? The tenses are mixed!!

  • Good lesson

  • Madam, it's an active sentence of SIMPLE PRESENT. The correct passive should be. The lunch is eaten. ( omitting the agent"SUBJECT" is okay in advanced Grammar). Hope in your next video you do it correctly.

  • oooooomfg i HATED learning grammar i cant believe how people who don't even speak the language feel o.o

  • miss you made wrong passive of this phrase the right one is

lunch is eaten by me .

  • @amerclinic good eye, you're right!

  • Thank you very much. Your explanations are very very good.

    Muchisimas gracias.

  • @mercesanca but wrong:)

  • You're so adorable! :)

  • sorry there is a mistake up there "lunch was eaten" hhhhhhh is lunch IS eaten cause " eat" in present and not in the past teacher ;)

  • She is the best teacher.

  • Lunch was eaten is correct, besides is more likely for us the students to be wrong than the teacher could be so....

  • ahh an another! when use BY is because always is PASSIVE?

  • I have a question.. When do use the PASSIVE VOICE you never use the SUBJET? O you can use it?

  • @pekuy you can use a subject to make the sentence clearer but you do not need a subject (:

  • Excuse me!You said that " Lunch was eaten" ,but i thought that is " Lunch is eaten" . It was because " I eat lunch. " eat <---is present tense

  • I would better say :I just had a haircut.........mmmmm

  • Jesus!!!!barber is for men for women we say stylist!

  • Nobody wants to suck your non-existent dick! Only way you'd get some is if you did it yourself. Hahaha and is that seriously your only comeback? My God you're stupid. Fucken Pathetic!! =D I'm beyond amused.

  • It is ok to be a rookie, but please, consider that the whole world has access to this "explanation ", and also you are a native speaker of the language...usually native speakers dont have those mistakes...

  • is that right?

  • Comment removed

  • "phonicsquest"-The whole world may have access to this "explanation" but only those who need it or are interested in watching it, do so. For instance, this may be helpful to a foreigner or even an elementary school student. Just because it's posted on youtube does not mean "the whole world" will view it or even search for it. So, instead of rambling on about nonsense on a video that seems to have no educational value to you, why don't you do yourself a favor and look one up that does.

  • @phonicsquest USUALLY but not always the case. I know grammar better than some native speakers and I've only been in the states for 6 years.

  • @phonicsquest I don't know where you thought she made a mistake but if you are talking about the "hair" part then you have to understand that hair is a non-count noun and it sounds fine when you say "I cut my hair".

  • My God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! another mistake, the passive of "I eat lunch" is "Lunch is eaten" not WAS,beacause the main verb EAT is in present!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • phonicsquest- Your existence is a mistake. Stop annoying people you pest! Get educated before falsely correcting people. You probably have no friends that's why you spend all your time on youtube trying to falsely correct people. I'm not sure what you're deal is, whether you're mentally ill or just stupid.

  • Ok,now I know why your fingers are dirty...you erase with your hands! Also ,it is better to say that lunch is the "object" not the noun...mmmmm...Iam a non native speaker of English...mmmmmm....

  • Are your nails dirty or it is just a visual effect?

  • 4:21 i like the way you say ok

  • you have a great style, teaching English

these classes are very useful for me

    thanks a lot

  • thank you so much teacher , you are great!!

  • You made an mistake; you said: I cut my hair and after that you said: My hair was cut by Bobby, but that Bobby has to be Me, because you said I cut my hair you didn't say Bobby cut my hair.

  • "Today, English is going to be taught by me." Heh.

  • thank you so much this lesson was very good for me :D

  • thank you for posting these videos. you are great.

  • I have to give it to you. You try. It is funny though

how you erase the board with your hands. It seems that you still get nervous in front of the camera.

    Advice: just relax.

  • In your first example, It would probably be better if you used passive in the present tense to correspond with the active sentence. "The lunch is (being) eaten." instead of "The lunch was eaten."

    But overall, good lesson!

  • Hello my teacher.

    You are very cute teacher!!
