@WarPig800 None of that information is true. Obito would have no reason to "fake" his death. Plus he was only a chuunin (and not a very good one at that) during the time of his death, therefore he wouldn't have the knowledge or stamina to develop or learn a jutsu evenly remotely close to Edo Tensei or any other life-giving jutsu. The Zetsu theory of yours is a possibility, though. Also, you're right, it's been proven that Tobi is not Madara because Madara was resurrected by Kabuto's Edo Tensei.

The chances of Tobi being himself are slim to none. My theory is that Tobi is Obito, and there is a lot of evidence proving this correct, but there are doubts.

There was very little info about pain's identity before the few episodes of the past with nagato as a kid. Though the character was introduced way before then. Perhaps the author plans to reveal who tobi really is in much the same way as a past event with him slipped in. Making you think it's the character centered on the event and at the last momment that centered character dies (madara mabye?) and tobi decides to take up his name for whatever reason.
Tobi is not Madara, that is a fact. But just because Madara appeared in the coffin when Kabuto raised them doesn't mean anything. Its the Naruto series, Kabuto and the real Madara could be playing a trick on Tobi, lol.
Because if the author goes through great lengths just to hide his identity, wouldn't be more logical to think that he's actually someone we already know about?

Well, Madara did release the Kyuubi onto the village... And he was wearing a similar mask... So I really think its Madara. Honestly why would Obito destroy his village, and more importantly, his right eye was squished by the rock... soooooooo... first, he just can't be obito, cuz during the nine-tails attack, you know, that kakashi was a young man, like a student, while tobi, who controlled kurama that night, and easily fighted minato, was most likely older than him (minato), who also was obito's sensei...
During the battle with Konan, it was also revealed, that both eyes had sharingan.
Next, it can't be madara JUST becouse madara's real body (and his soul, of course) was revived by kabuto.
Tobi is most likely made of zetsu

He may have just grabbed another set and considering he help itachi wipe out the uchiha clan its a distinct possiblitiy. Maybe Tobi was a failed experiment of Orchimaru's? I'm not too sure of the time-scales and how old Orochimaru would have been but it does sort of make sense.

its really not that hard to figure out. Obito. Take out the 1st O. Move the 'bi' and you get Tobi. Obito and Tobi have the same hair. Tobi only has 1 eye hole in his mask. Obito gave one of his eyes to Kakashi. Tobi's body is mostly covered in these metal plate thingys. the right half of Obito's body was crushed. It's said that Zetsu saved Obito, helped sort of reconstruct his body, got a mask, and there. You have Tobi. Zetsu was from the Hidden Grass Village. Obito 'died' in the hidden grass

@MrTigerPL1 That's the point. Obito didn't die. In the newest episode released to Japan, it proves that Tobi is not Madara. So Tobi is either his own character, or he's Obito. The chances of Tobi being himself are slim to none. And like I said in my other comment, it's said that Zetsu found and saved Obito, and helped sort of reconstruct his body, so that is evidence that Obito didn't die. My theory is that Tobi is Obito, and there is a lot of evidence proving this correct, but there are doubts.

If Zetsu saved Obito, then he would have to join the Akatsuki, because Zetsu could just as easily kill Obito. He could have not saved Obito at all. There was very little info about pain's identity before the few episodes of the past with nagato as a kid. Though the character was introduced way before then. Perhaps the author plans to reveal who tobi really is in much the same way as a past event with him slipped in. Making you think it's the character centered on the event and at the last momment that centered character dies (madara mabye?) and tobi decides to take up his name for whatever reason.
Just my observations of the pattern I see.
