@Overhazard Tough luck with that, but an awesome battle! :) If you have either pokemon black/white I'll be happy to battle you. If it's a flat rule battle. :P
Lol i like you videos sooooooooo much! xD just be playing when i get the game i wanna try to beat you but it never happends hehehe JUST WIN ALL THE BATTLES!!!
Umm... there's no chance any physical Garchomp won't use EQ. Its its only good physical ground STAB. Would you use a physical Normal type without Return?
I get annoyed when people consider something non creative when its pretty much required.
I forgot about that. Double Hit is arguably better than Return on Ambipom. I used a bad example.
What I'm trying to say is that, while some types, like Normal, have other STAB options, the only usable physical Ground move is Earthquake, so it makes sense for any physical Garchomp to have it.
Now, if someone was calling physical Garchomp itself not creative, I'd understand.
Yeah, I understand what you mean. I just tossed out an exception to the rule. There's usually one. I'll bet there's some circumventive use for a Garchomp who'd use Dig instead of Earthquake. The next team I have will have a Pokémon who uses Dive instead of Aqua Tail or Waterfall, for instance.
Special Garchomp would be interesting to see and definitely a wrench thrown into people's expectations.
There's actually Special Garchomp in Platinum's Battle Factory. It's actually pretty good. Of course, the surprise factor dosen't really work against the AI...
In the Uber environment, Special Garchomp would be best off with a Choice Scarf, revenge KOing things that expect a physical one.
And I'm looking foward to seeing a Dive-abusing Pokemon.
i have a special garchomp, and even as special its actually very strong, it needs a life orb still though, as its special is considerably worse than its physical attack
You don't have to. We're not forcing anyone to get rid of Garchomp from their teams. A lot of us just think that it's a cheap Pokemon to use against trainers that use UU Pokemon only. You have 5 others so don't be shy to use them.
By your logic, rayquaza should also be OU as he can even slow can can be OHKO'd by some moves in OU. Yet he is not. Salamence is much...MUCH inferior to Garchomp in general as a pokemon. While the DD will le thim outspeed SDChomp, it won't outspeed the scarfChomp.
Also, speed isn't everything but an important factor to consider when the pokemons are strong enough to be considered. it's the fact that Garchomp is naturally faster than Salamence and other 100's (currently there are only 10 OU pokemons that are naturally faster than him.
ninjask can't kill him, aerodactly can't kill him (esp if garchomp has Yache), Jolteon can't kill him, Weavile has porven to not be able to kill YacheChomp, Zam can't, Azelf and Starmie can't either, Gengar and infernape can't, Latias can but if Garchomp has Haban she won't be able to.
Garchomp does have checks in OU but so does almost all UBERS. Still it is the very fact that nothing can switch into all garchomp variants and kill it before he can (a counter not a check) that makes him an UBER or too broken in OU. Also, Salamence does not, again, have the SR "resistance" but quite weak to it.
Garchomp gets Swords Dance as well which coming off 130 base attack and 102 speed can be ridiculously devastating to most teams.
If Chomp gets up a Swords Dance it can pretty much 2HKO anything in the game, and with a Yache Berry even those things that are faster than it can't OHKO it with an Ice attack for the most part.
I think Chomp being an uber is definitely debatable, but those are some reasons as to why it is.
it's speed doesn't really matter considering how a lot of stuff outspeed it in OU these days, what with things like Gengar and Starmie being scarfed.
And Latias stops Chomp cold, and latias is really common. The fact it 2HKO's most things doesn't matter when you think about that most teams are offensive anyway.
If Sala is OU then Chomp should be too, it's far easier to play around than Mence is.
I would not say so. There's a reason as why he is considered as the "best" revenge killer even in UBER. He outspeeds many important pokemons while hitting hard...VERY hard and is actually better than Nite in terms of defense as well (more HP and under standard it has sand veil and its good typing). Salamence is powerful but not as threatening as Chomp. Salamence is slower (that 2 base speed is a huge difference as it will always outspeed mence) and SR is a VERY good check to Mence.
People, people... aren't you forgetting that sometimes its ability gives it a 1 in 5 chance of any given move missing when it normally would have hit? Ice Beam only has a 64% chance to 2HKO a Garchomp in Sandstorm. That's broken in my book.
Yes, but OU is a much more fast paced metagame than Ubers is. And if he is an awesome revenge killer that doesn't mean he's too broken to be OU.
He'll only outspeed Sala if he's scarfed, since sala will DD on the switch and lol. And his 102 base speed is actually pretty slow in a metagame where things like Gengar and Starmie are scarfed.
Chomp is simply not as good as it used to be as it is easily outsped if it's SD, and can't sweep if it's scarfed.
What's very sad is that my Torchic has the ability to knock any predictable Garchomp out there. I smell an attack coming, I use Counter and if it's Sashed, I have Quick Attack. Smogon doesn't think about UU Pokemon taking it out. They only think of the OU/Uber environment...
Stealth rock says LOL!!!! to your torchic strategy, as does Hail/Sandstorm. Not to mention leftovers etc. and that people will probably see your strategy coming, since F.E.A.R sets are so obvious and predictable.
and no they don't, they can't account for every fucking pokemon imaginable, that'd be almost impossible, time consuming and overall pretty pointless.
Because it is considered too hard to counter in OU. Mamoswine and Weavile can counter it pretty well with Ice Shard, but if Garchomp has a Yache Berry it'll always survive and kill Mamoswine/Weavile.
Good battle. It was too bad you lost. Personally, I love Garchomp to pieces, but I would never use it against someone else unless it was an Uber battle.
Remember that every standard moveset was once original. And they have at least 5 movesets for most things with decent movepools, some of which are very interesting (Curse Bastiodon and Para-Fusion-Flinch Regirock, for example)

Garchomp shouldn't be uber anyway, if Salamence can be OU then so can Chomp.
The only real things chomp has over Salamence is better typing and bulkier.
but the unpredictable posed by Salamence mkes it a much bigger OU threat.
