I meet him the other day when we went there. He was very nice and i told him with all that metal he should make some booby traps for all tho's that come and steal from his property. He laughed and told me he made many in the war. He did tell me that he caught on fire one day from the welder and he died for a while and saw heaven and hell.
I actually live in Wilson and I've always heard the story about "Acid Park" but I've never actually been inside. I've always seen them from the side of the street inside my car, do they do like tours or something? I'd be interested in meeting him or just going inside.
such a nice man. met him yesterday, and its sad that he has to lock up all his stuff because of some people. I was absolutely amazed at all the pieces he has for sale in his workshop. he is really talented, and its nice to live near enough to be able to ride over there on a day to see his art
A group of us have looked for Acid Park for a long time. Every year we plan to go around Halloween only to ride forever and be disappointed. Thanks for the directions! As for the Momeyer Ghost, we have been by that for years and either it would be lit up by the house nearby or the cops would show up. An old newspaper article states you have to have an odd number of people present to see the ghost. Just something to do and somewhere to go this time of year!
rickysnaffi gave you an incorrect answer. Acid Park is located in Wilson County NC. It is between the town of Lucama and the Rock Ridge Community. When you get to Wilson County get a county map and look for Vollis Shop Rd. That is the name of the little dirt road that you saw in the video. The paved road that most people like to view the place from at night is called Willing Worker Rd. Approach it from this direction at night and when you come over the hill your headlights create quite a show.
I have visited here many times. about 9 years ago passing by I noticed an older gentleman who seemed to be working on something. I got out and introduced myself, turned out he was the dude who had built it all. I asked him every question about everything I had ever heard....the daughter...the wreck...the term 'acid park' ...prom night. He even told me more rumors. He was viuslly upset, but wanted to be heard. overall He wanted me to make it clear to everyone that this was simply his hobby.
Exactly. My friend's sister was doing research on this and she interviewed the man and he said he gets so mad when he hears the story because it's not true. He only has one daughter and she is a nurse in Wilson. He just likes to build things. I wish people would let this die...
acid park is a legend... ok? it's about a girl i forgot her name but she got drunk on prom night 2 or 3 years ago and she was driving down that long path to her trailer and she hit a tree. It killed her instantly and thee car went through the tree and is still there. her dad put up those reflectors to scare people off. if you go there on prom night at 12:00 you can hear her scream.. Her dad is dead though. but before he died he would get his rifle and shoot at you if you came down the path. ok?
The artist behind "acid park" is a man named Vollis Simpson. He calls the windmills whirligigs. It looks like a patch of some surreal kinetic disney land You have to see it during the day and the evening to get the full experience. There is also a piece of his installed at the NC museum of art. I highly recommend to anyone seeing this at least once is worth a thousand mile drive. This video is nice, but it cant begin to scrape the presence of this place.
yeah my sister went there and she said they didnt even get past the car and they felt that something bad was gonna happen, and that it just like makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. but its like a really wack story.
I'm digging the music and the sunset in the beginning. I went to Acid Park a few months ago, do u know the story behind the place? It's really cool at night too.
i love acid park....but its soo far out in the country i always get lost out there

Don't get me wrong- we were only curious about Acid Park- heard the story and all. Just wanted to see it, not a thrill ride.

the story is bunk, but to people that have never heard the story or seen the place at night, it definately makes for a bonding experience....
especially if you wake the old man up in the middle of the night.......
He will chase you off because he used to have a problem with kids spray painting his stuff up...
