@TheJKoKo Horse racing is not cruelty. The horses are bred to run. Its their instinct. How would you love to have the sport that you love to naturally do was called cruel? Its a given that theses horses are bred to run and they love it. god made them that way. The owners treat their horses like kings and queens. The horses are loved. And they prove that they love their life every time they step on that track!

@TheJKoKo - Hello. Yes, as I stated, I am aware of the negatives (inexcusable!) & that the gambling aspect has ruined entire families. Efforts to eliminate cruel treatment & help bettors keep their wagering in perspective should continue to be expanded. However, should all the positives be forfeited in order to get rid of the dark side? I've heard from an equine veterinarian that many horses are very well treated & most love to run. Let's hope for better treatment for all. Best Wishes.

Thoroughbred horse racing has its negative side (like all things do). However, most of the horses are objects of GENUINE AFFECTION by their owners, trainers, grooms & jockeys. Generally, they are well fed & well treated due mainly, I am fully aware, to their monetary value. I shall, respectfully, disagree with those who believe racing these wonderful animals is cruel - HORSES LOVE TO RUN! RIP Barbaro, Secretariat (SEE THE MOVIE!) & others. Thank you for the thrills!

@rotanssilversplash ... yes if it wasnt for racing he wouldnt b here ... but racing was the reason he died the way he did ... racing is a cruel and a sport were animals are pushed to the limits for entertainment ... most in the end get a needle or bolt gun .. yes some are lucky and get sold to b pc mounts or eventers ... but statistcs show majority are slaughted .. and the ones who do suvive suffer mental and physical suffering ... many have stomach problms and liver problems due to the feed

we never bet on races and my mom knew barbaros trainer he had actually trained her!AShe said hes good so his horse must be good!So my dad went down to our local racetrack and placed a 10 dollar bet on barbaro to win!We all gathered around the tv!And watched as one of racings greatest legends be pulled up!We knew something terrible had happened!It was beyond terrible! Wow that was amazing! I work with racehorses and it scares me to death everytime I let one of them go at the begining of a race, I never watch them run, I spend the whole race praying for them to come home safe. Run free Barbaro, you were a great champion.
