Then when you want to choose a motherboard you try to get a motherboard that fits the RAM, CPU and graphic card. So you don't start building a system from the motherboard but from RAM, CPU and graphic card.

@KingJulien234 well your processor will be an AM3 socket so basically u need to be looking for a AM3 motherboard, i actually use that same processor and my motherboard is a Asus M4A78T - E, it works flawlessly. other things to look out for are, ram support most now are DDR3 but u can still pick up DDR2 motherboards, also how many PCI express x16 slots it has for graphics cards mainly, the motherboard i mentioned has 2. hope that helps jst send me a message if u need more help.

1)yes, you can use an old technician trick. Just touch your hands on your PSU(power supply unit) box before you touch any component on the board.

2)Also, NEVER grab a chip,memory stick directly, always grab from sides(like how you pick up disc you don't want to smudge).

3) yes, you're right, always install on hardwood floor, carpet causes lots of static build up that can short out a component easily.

@eternal415 building ur own comp is just a little bit bullshit. u need to find the right slots for the cpu, ram and gpu. the three slots for the gpu are RGB, PCI and PCI express. don't worry, all comps these days use PCI express (the best). i'm not sure about what i'm about to write but i think the 3 slots for the ram are DDR, DDR 2 and DDR 3. the best is 3, but a lot of comps these days use DDR 2. as far as cpus go first choose ur cpu THEN ur mother board. i don't know about cpu slots, soz.
