What a superb video. The International Brigades were the people who actually got up and did something to try and stop the Fascists while the West was still appeasing them. They sent a powerful message to the Spanish people that they were not simply being abandoned by the West to another reactionary army dictatorship. The West did nothing. Didn't help the Republic and then collaborated with Franco after the war. Unlike Western Governments the Brigaders can hold their heads up high.

@MrHistoryman45 The eternal shame of the so-called Western "democracies" was their first ignoring then embracing a fascist butcher like Franco. Only when, as was inevitable, the far right turned on them did they shake off their lethargy, and as soon as the immediate crisis was over and the millions buried and forgotten, it was back to business as usual.
