Shame you didn't tell us anything about the video features... Also I would like to know the different, main options that the lens ring can control. Off to DPreview, for a more in depth look.
That f2.0 aperture is @ the wide end of the zoom, this year being 24mm, keeping pace w/ the Panasonic DMC-LX5 & the faster lens-ed Olympus XZ-1 & Samsung's TL500/EX1. The f5.9 referred to is @ the S100's telephoto end, this year stretched out to a 120mm equiv. . The focal length (zoom "reach") may be slightly longer than the LX5 or the XZ-1, but the lens is slower at all focal lengths compared to last year's S95 and significantly slower past 50mm than all of it's other current class competition.
@giantiger12 I already have a Canon 60D and a pile of lenses. I am looking for a compact camera to carry around in my coat pocket. The G12 is too big ( and most likely so would a G13). If the S100 had an optical viewfinder and a bigger sensor (like the X10) I would buy it tomorrow. I love the Canon Digic processors , menu systems etc . The X10 has some quirks that are making me hold off buying (the menu, the non-standard RAW, the difficulty with ISO and the fact that it's slightly large).
@Mozo901 Thanks for this nod. I hadn't heard about the NEX 7. I've just had a look at the specs and it looks amazing. I'm seriously thinking of this one now.
I'm caught between buying this camera and the Fuji X10. The X10 has an optical viewfinder and a bigger sensor, but apparently it has a RAW system that is not standard and is not compatible with Photoshop and has no dedicated ISO button. However the S100 has no viewfinder, I'd be willing to pay a bit more to get a small compact camera that has a full sensor, has RAW, has an optical viewfinder and has dedicated buttons for essentials. I wish Canon would follow follow Fuji's lead.
@phenochio If you haven't already sold your S95 you might want to hold on to it for a bit longer, for at least two reasons. First one being that if the apparent lens decentering issue still being investigated by DP review on all three of the S100's they're testing for a full review turns out to be more than just an astounding coincidence, the S100 might not be the camera to drop 400+ bucks on. And 2) if the QC/manufacturing problems are bad, your S95's resale just went up.
Thanks for the review.
I just bought this camera but i have no clue how to make my video on full screen in my youtube videos. please help :(

Every video review I've seen has the low battery icon flashing.

Movable focus point was already built into S95

Yeah the aperture kills it for me. I'd take less zoom range if it improved the aperture.

@mucalinda That Fuji is pretty awesome. Expensive, but if I had the money I would definitely choose it over this. Not even close really.
