stills works and runs better with more productivity than windows though, so its acceptable imo. i use ubuntu though im getting a macbook next christmas.
I've installed Leopard OSX on my PC, works way faster then any Mac out there. 100% Stable. But OSX sucks for gaming, even with parallels/vmware/crossover nothing runs it well, theres also no shader support on any of those. If you like games and want to save money stay away from mac, because its a rip off:P, I bought my pc for under $800CAD (19LCD Samsung Widescreen, 3.2GHZ Core2Duo, 4GB mem, 7600GT, 500GB HD, Antec900 Case) I can restart to xp any time :P.
Oh and I do like OSX Leopard itself I'm not talking shit about that:P because it is a good operating system, but I don't like Mac Systems, because they are pricey, they just rip ppl off seriously. Thats the exact same reason that Apple Doesnt make OSX for PC's :P they would loose a lot more money, thats the reason there systems are priced so high, because they don't sell nearly as much as pc's... This is true I heard it on an interview:P thats why theres no OSX for pc right now.
I want to get or build a hackintosh but arent there big flaws to it and that Apple doesn't want you to use there OS on hackintosh's and there taking new precautions so that the OS doesnt work on the hackintosh?
haven't heard of that, but I've just like many other ppl have gotten it working flawlessly no crashes and things like that also updated to 10.5.2 without any problems :), this things super fast all mac games first of all run on high lol and im only using a 7600GT.. I don't know if Apple would do anything, but if they do I think someone will find a fix, a lot of people are working on OSX86 projects.. You won't have any problems, UNLESS you have outdated hardware, but otherwise your all good..
What format are the videos you are watching? what program are you watching them in? Which version of OS X are you using? I could probably help you figure out how to watch your videos in full screen mode.
maybe you should get a bigger monitor? I have no problems with "window" placement on my 13.3" macbook. What Mac were you using/what size monitor? Are you aware you can resize and move the dock?
their aint nothing a mac can do that windows cant do just get the software of what you want thats some thing macs cant do their stuck with what they give you
vista put the final nail in the coffin for apple R.I.P.
I'm going to be the stick in the mud and say that I find Leopard to be a step down from Tiger.
I've used OSX since the day the first version was released and each new version was faster and more efficient than the prior, peaking out at a flawless Tiger.
Leopard is sluggish and a resource hog that's more about looks than performance. Hopefully Apple can tweak it out with updates, because it is indeed lovely to look at.
Having been a PC and Mac user I have to say I prefer Mac, I will not be returning to Windows because the Mac is ergonomically more suited to what i do. Leopard is fine for me.
Totally agree man. I love how people who don't have macs just post angry comments about nothing. They're like, "Yeah! Well you're stupid!" It's really pathetic...
I hate to say it guys but none of this stuff is "only in Leopard", that's only true in comparison to other Mac versions... which really doesn't mean anything at all.
Stacks? Fair enough, however this was only because the Mac has no "Quick Launch" or "All Programs" type menus which you see in other operating systems like various distros of Linux and of course Windows.
The Finder changes aren't really that impressive. As said before, both Windows and Linux have thumbnail previews, and as far as Quick-Look goes, why do you need that when you could (A) open the document or (B) just look at the thumbnail?
iChat is great and all, but what does that have to do with the operating system? Why not release it as a general software update?
As far as the mail changes go, why not also release that as a software update? Apple is worse than Microsoft (or Micro$oft as you guys so... cutely put it) as far as capitalism goes, you're just too blind to realize it.
Spaces? Linux had it, Windows has had programs for it. Sure, it's integrated into the operating system, but why are you using that as a defense? You've criticized Windows Vista for a handful of its features being the same thing.
Time Machine? Windows Vista has this, and Windows XP (and possibly previous versions) had System Restore. Talk about ripping off ideas, right? You guys like to complain about that.
And last but not least, I'm suprised he didn't mention Boot Camp. Yes, every Mac user loves to bash Windows, but the happiest day in their lives was when they could run it on their Mac.
System restore is not Time machine. System restore takes your system all the way back, without going back. That sucks. Time machine brings separate files back.
Obviously you don't know what Windows Server is. It has had individual file backup for a long time now, in a less flashy fashion (meaning it "just works" and doesn't have all the graphical crap with it, oops, was that your catch phrase?)
Totally agree, brockh6350 doesn't know wtf he's talking about. Time Machine does not function the same way System restore does. Every time i try to restore files with System restore, it tells me 'there aren't enough significant changes to restore back to that point'. Even though I know the computer wasn't in the current state as it was before. Not to mention that shitty system registry in Windows... So glad I switched... Still have that crappy Windows XP Laptop in my room tho lol.
Yes, but Vista and Linux you can install on both machines Mac and PC, and Leopard you can install only on Mac. I can't understand it. Why not allow people to choose their operating system? Why Macs are soooo expensive? (I mean hardware of course). Why Apple and Microsoft aren't equal rivals? Because Apple are afraid to make it on bigger scale! They're afraid of competing with Microsoft. Sad, but true.
Leopard seems appealing and I've always admired the Mac style but I still favor the linux distros, though I'm a developer so that's probably part of it. Apart from "time machine" I don't see a thing that hasn't been in Linux for a while already (ok, aquabar was post Mac). I'll stick with Linux but definitely considering a Mac for my next laptop. Only scared by the automatic networking, nice yes, but seems like that could be an open door for exploits of the system, but never as bad as Windows ;-)
People, let me tell you something, Vista raped my computer, it violated its hard drive, its ram, its everything... therefore I downgraded back to Windows XP, but when it came time to get a laptop, MacBook was my number one choice, and in September (Before University started) I bought the new iMac... I think we whould all learn a lesson from this and continue to spread the facts...

its sick. the only minor complaint i have is that i thought Time Machine would be self-based, but instead you need an external drive for it. no biggie, just a minor detail. Gateway used to have the same sort of thing except it was self based and it jumped back the whole computer rather than one file. maybe they could cherrypick this idea? eh just a minor detail, as for the rest its great

2. Compatible hardware for the new video
