While the rest of the consumers buy mass produced iphones, these are aimed at the older executive crowd with a lot of disposable income. A new BB bold costs more than an Iphone 4, so a limited run BB by Porsche's industrial designers might have some higher value that us normal people arent interested in. The phone is a status symbol.

Nokia had been releasing the 8800 series for years. What made them special makes this special. The construction materials are super high quality, not the chinese plastic and metal the standard phones uses. the leather is probably off a religious cow from India.

The Bluetooth headset is probably a premium set. the 8800 series bluetooths retailed for nearly 200 bucks + when new.

I'm not a BB fan, but I actually think this is a pretty slick phone. I'm just wondering though, why BB couldn't have come up with this by themselves? They could have significantly lowered the price of the unit because it could have been mass-produced and have a better chance of getting economies of scale. Instead having a Porsche logo means there's limited quantities and that puts a premium price tag on it.
