  • its definetly not music for the masses but music none the less- respect

  • I don't care what anyone says about this being music or not, it makes my ears bleed.

  • It's like jazz fusion on steroids.

  • these guys and Psyopus. god damn, i wish i could understand...

  • @jsteele07189 youve got a great taste in music my friend

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa excelente no hay palabras para esto

  • What a sick guitar Mr. long-hair has :)

  • Shit, I forgot that all of you were professional musicians playing the music to satisfy all the ears of the world. Before you guys post something terribly ignorant, please go out and pursue a dream of yours instead of wasting your time being the #1 youtube critic.

  • Just because you cant hear it, doesnt mean there isnt structure. 1 song of theirs is better than everything you listen to combined.

  • If you think this is mindless and talentless, try to recreate it. You probably couldn't even hum their song, let alone remember the notes of it. Who cares if it's dissonant? Doesn't mean it's not music. A minor second is still a harmony. As is a Tritone. Saying this is "easy" music is clueless and ignorant, as the fact is that some of these riffs are in 9 note scales and it's definitly not just random note choices. The sweeps lay with the rythm, they bring back old rythms. You're assholes.

  • @whitwalls1222 your my hero! Lol bta FO LIFE!

  • @RebornThroughHate "all this shit is easy to play"? Dude, you're either a musical genius or you're totally clueless. It must be the latter since it's obvious you don't understand a thing about what they're playing. There is definitely structure in this music, but unless you take the effort to get to know the music you'll never know.

  • I hope they're good at dropping the fry basket.

  • I didn't know Cassie played atonal guitar in her spare time

  • This is the kind of band one should laugh at, except that there will always be a group of young-ins and wanna-be musicians who become impressed with complete noise as long as it features a large number of notes. All this shit is easy to play, BTW. Bassist looks like an idiot with that haircut.

  • Best bassist ever!

  • GRAAAAA THERE IS NOTHING MORE I HATE THAN THREE DUDES HAVING FUN AND MAKING MUSIC THAT THEY ENJOY DOING THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY I DON'T UNDERSTAND

  • i dont give a fuck how many people are gonna say this is "the worst band ever" i honestly love the part starting at 3:28

  • sonic mess

  • random noise= no deal

  • i think it's fun to listen to :P

  • It's only noise if you don't understand what's going on. There's a methodology behind the sounds; go see Slayer or Six Feet Under if you want candy metal.

  • @PretentiousProducts i wouldnt call a legendary metal band like slayer "candy metal" i mean of course none of those dudes come close to the musicianship of these guys but i dont really think its fair to compare a band like slayer and a band like bta.. their both great bands.. never heard of six feet below so i cant comment on them

  • @whitewalls1222 right on, but i was just getting at the point that the majority of people who listen to "mainstream extreme metal"(never thought it would exist, but look at bam magera and other hollyweird tools who advertise the "hardcore stuff")are just as ignorant towards bands like bta as pop fans are:it's an increasing epidemic of "easy listening __"(insert any genre).Like with most any art, if it has too much to think about, it becomes work instead of entertainment for most to listen to.

  • also, yes, slayer are legendary for what they started doing, but now they're just creating a product for teenage consumption, and it's painfully obvious.they're capable of greatness/imagination beyond what they've shown(just look at lombardo's work in fantomas or on the cremaster 2 strk), and it's just sad to see them churning out practically radio-friendly hard rock(by today's standards)meant for angsty teens when they could be still breaking barriers and reinventing metal.

  • @PretentiousProducts "instead of entertainment"

I'm not gonna into what ever discussion is at hand, but art doesn't have to be entertainment. It has to be art. There's a huge difference.

  • @PorcupineFloyd68 Art can entertain, I agree; when you think of "art" there's usually a certain extra depth to it that material meant just as pop culture mass consumption units never reaches. It's like putting John Zorn next to Lady Gaga.

  • This is one of those bands your cousin is in and he asks you to buy a CD and you're all like "dammit...".

  • I think your instruments are out of tune lol

  • I think i know why BTA videos have so many dislikes now. People watch them and try to hit the like button, but their minds are blown by the amazingness of this band so they accidently miss and hit the dislike button.

  • @metalfun111 you best be fucking joking

this band is one of the worst pieces of shit i have ever heard

i hope to fucking god, you are trolling or some sick shit like that

  • Honestly I dont see what you artsy hippies see in this. Just look at the audience. They dont seem like they are enjoying it.

  • @Wotenkeld Artsy hippies? Oh wait... okay you got me there, but the audience whoops and claps and shit between songs. Sounds like they are emjoying it to me. Most people who like them listen to it for its technicality, I don't, i just think it sounds fucking awesome.

  • @Wotenkeld yeah and you should have seen the audience when judas preist opened for reo speedwagon back in the day.. people had the same reaction.. "wtf is this crazy shit, i have no clue what is going on" i mean the reason you dont like bta is the same reason my grandparents hate led zeppelin.. ignorance.. go suck on a exhaust pipe you fucking moron.. its called evolution buddy.. some musicians actually feel like being artists not just rehashing the same thing you've heard 100000 times before..

  • I keep waiting for a bullet to come and put these two fucks out of their misery.

  • @bobbycamp101 your generation is so fucking pathetic.. go listen to fucking attack attack or whatever stupid mind numbing bullshit you kiddies are into these days

  • tapping section at 3:30. So beautiful.

  • i would like them better if they focused more on coherent song structure while still keeping the technicality.

  • good drummer

  • Sounds like they're building a shed.

  • Canada starts at 1:14 if anyone's wondering.

  • Thanks :)

  • @ggplox wooooooooow it was all crazy sounds to me anyways. i cant follow this

  • I think, if these guys had a decent rhythm section (like for example, adding a bass player), it would improve their sound exponentially.

  • he is playing bass

  • Yeah, but he's not playing basslines constantly, he switches from the bass side of the neck to the guitar side. I notice sometimes that he'll switch over to a bassline, and that's when the music starts to grab me, but this is kind of reminiscent of King Crimson's Thrakkatak. Music doesn't really grab me without a solid timekeeper.

  • WARR guitar

  • I think it would make no sense because if you played a bass to their music it would be really intense to. Playing like Pete Wentz and Mikey Way would just be an obnoxious *dum dum dum dum dum dum* behind the *doodoodooDUMDUM DUMMMMMMM dododo...... DUNUHUHUHUH!!! dum dum dumdumdum DUUUUUUUUUUH!!!!!*

    You see what I mean?

  • If you played like Pete Wentz, yes. But say you had a Chapman Stick and played like Tony Levin?

  • But a warr guitar is pretty much a chapman stick but with a body

  • Right, but it would be different to someone who has a sense of rhythm. Pete Wentz does not, he just spins around and follows the guitar. To someone with a better grasp of harmony, complexity and rhythm, the Stick would probably be played much differently.

  • Well, anyway what I'm trying to say, is that your asking for a solid rhythm in a band that's rhythm is everywhere, but at the same time wanting that solid rhythm to be less solid. It's confusing me, it feels like your asking for your cranberry juice to be orange juice but still be cranberry juice. Unless you could explain to me better.

  • Well, it would only be a solid rhythm if the bassist was playing quarter or eighth notes. Having a bass player playing time would make the music more polyrythmic, for example, you could look up and of Gentle Giant's early works. While not as note-saturated, the bass, guitar, vocals and keys did things independent of each other, even to the point of playing in different time signatures sometimes. As long as the bass and the drums stay togethr, the guitars can do pretty much whatever they want.

  • But why is that better then the WARR guitar then?

  • Not really saying that it's better, just saying that in addition, it would thicken the sound a little bit. The Warr guitar in this song is not playing bass notes all of the time, so the bottom end would be nailed down a little more.

  • @Nick5379 No.

  • Fucking terrible.

  • I wish I could afford a touchstyle instrument so I could learn the warr parts.... But normal treble guitar will do for now....

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!!

  • these guys fuckin rule! just found out about them earlier today. heard about them before but never bothered my arse to look them up.......

  • Mikes face is priceless in every video, haha.

  • i like the sentence this great scientisct once said

"everything is relative" by einstein, the point here is that we do not share the same opinion and sometimes it can lead to unforgivable mistake

Galile was killed because he was sure that the earth was round instead of flat, kinda dumb now we know its true

but back then they didnt know and tough Galile was crazy as hell

this concept apply to this too, u find them utter shit but its nontheless good quality music for me and other

    peace

  • and u cant get me wrong on this one since this is my own self-entilted opinion and im glad to share it with other this is good quality music for me :P

u cant understand that fact over ur opinion that this is wankery than grow up, have some balls, get laid and live on

  • Then BB King steps up, plays 3 notes, and owns these guys...

  • thats just a silly comparison, thats like comparing boxers from different weight categories

  • youre an idiot, you can dislike this but your comparisons are ridiculous

  • digiBeast:

when you press play, you dumbfuck.

  • Theres complex music (take Exivious for example) and, then theres guitar wankery. I mean, come on, even Miles Davis would go "What the fuck is this?"

  • Guitar Wankery? Try playing this. It's as complex as anything. You can't rule this out just because YOU don't like it. And stop talking for other people. You don't know what Miles Davis likes, and, frankly, what he likes really does not matter. I don't even know what your point was suppose to be? You don't like this music, therefore it's not complex and it's not good? Great logic, it's as clear as day.

  • Lol, chill out man, I wasn't trying to be logical It's just my opinion. "Logically" (Technically) these guys are probably doing some amazing stuff. But as musical appreciation, I think they sound like shit frankly. I can't make any apologies, thats really how I feel =/

Oh and the Miles Davis thing. He's known for making "out of the box" music, especially after Bitches Brew. I was trying to jokingly point out that even someone with an eccentric taste like Miles would find this hard to understand

  • Actually, you are welcome to talk for me. Complex and good are not related. Complex equals complex. Good equals good.

To each his own, but to me, music is not a sport. This just gives me the same feeling of looking at a really complex crossword puzzle that someone did: "Wow, what a lot of work. Hmm. OK, good for you, crossword puzzle guy." To each his own.

  • I cant wait till I get as good as Collin with my 12 string. That man is an inspiration.

  • Your the only one.

  • this is better than some of there other junk but its still pretty noiseish

  • 3:29. that shit is on. Hell yea.

  • bunun türün ismi ne ya? atmosferik yarak metal mi?

  • sounds like one big jam session.

  • both both albums. would kill to see them live

  • I like thes guys because it not just the same old stuff. It's creative. It to me is a new type of music and some people who dislike it should try listening from a different perspective.

  • I would probably have a heart attack if I listened to this on acid.

  • haha. imagine how fucked up an lsd trick would be on this XD

  • lsd trick?

  • this sounds like one huge r2-d2 gangbang

  • LOL

  • This has to be a joke right? Who would seriously put a band like this on their bill?

  • A dude who likes schizo-metal-acid-jazz-fusion shit?

How is it a joke... theyre better than you are.

  • uh.... what?

  • i'm surprised that members of this band don't die more frequently...i could see them exploding.

  • Those poor instruments.

  • people interested in this or at least open to it and truly love chaotic, technical metal, complexe arrangements, frequent changes, I suggest listening to the album versions of their music. I was amazed in fact, what they've done is beautiful

the live videos on youtube of them don't sound good

  • k this stuff ain't shit. its actually quite well put together and guess wat? ITS THEIR OWN FUCKING STYLE OF MUSIC. so STFU.

  • If you guys could only understand that they play their own fucking style and they are damn good at it, this song sounds like this everytime they fucking play it...

  • No wonder you don't get it you like Marty Friedman and Eric Johnson. It goes to fast for hims wittle brain, huh?

  • I love Eric Johnson, Marty Friedman and Behold...

    :-)

Music is about variety not about being the best (although, that said its also about not sucking and being above a certain basic level, not neccesarily virtuoso though.)

  • for all you talent haters charlie the drummer just left the band this week

but theyre not done! theyre looking for a new guy

so be prepared for whatever cuz i love these guys

  • Dude! He was such an awesome drummer!

  • dear god yes he was

whoever they find, im happy for a new sound just beacause it should be interesting to hear

but it wont be the same without charlie z!

  • omg this shit is complete garbage

  • i think the only reason everyone is ripping on this band is because of the video of them titled "worst band in the world"

hahah... their drummer does kind of suck but the rest is amazing

  • The music isn't exactly pleasing to listen to, but if you do listen to it you can clearly see how complicated and incredible their composition skills are. They warr guitarist is INSANE

  • What the FUCKE are they playing it sounds like cats being beat in a bag by a horse cock!

  • I find this music good, not because of the sound it makes, but the fact that it's all very structured. If you listen to the studio recording of this, it's almost identical to what they play live, save for the few errors that just about every musician makes when playing live

  • what the fuck is this shit

  • sooo shit

dont reply to me if you thinks it good

    because your wrong

  • I love it!

  • hahaa why comment if you simply do not at all understand what they're doing? it's avant-garde metal, it's not supposed to be ultra melodic and cookie cutter. get a clue.

  • dude do you know how long it would take a person to lern to play bass like that guy does? fucking years and years, like the bass in this song is like way more complicated than lets say cannibal corpse

  • but there are many people who can play that thing, and better, well at least in their genre. these guys have a very specific genre.

  • who cares how hard it is to play, it sounds like fucking random noise, no creativity at all.

  • I know, but I wanted to try to be respectful. It's hard to do here....

  • random noise, why? because it's not all 4/4 time with hugely obvious hooks and riffs driving linear grooves and rythyms?

sure the tone of their guitars isn't soft, it's harsh, powerful, hence it's called metal.

fact is, if you don't like it, doesn't mean it sucks, art is to be interpreted by each

  • Precisely. People say my music is just random and out of place... But that's only because they cannot wrap their 4/4 driven minds around it.

  • 4/4 can be just as complicated and technical as all sorts of compound meters. The black page for example

  • well you took a snippet of the full line "all 4/4 time with hugely obvious hooks and riffs driving linear grooves and rythyms"

which puts it more into context

yes you can make some fast choppy and technical 4/4 stuff, but as the full line says, it's talking more about the common licks and riffs used in popular songs

  • Look what Danny Carey does to 4/4 with just opening the high-hat. He makes beats sound very complex

  • that's not a bass, 1. and cannibal corpse is more complicated than you think. making ignorant comments just makes you look like a fucking dick.

  • it IS a bass :S

  • I find that compared to other musicians around they aren't super tech but I really really like their music haha....

  • this shit is horrible

  • dude this band fuckin sucks they have no rythmical value at all

  • no see thats the problem, its all rhythm and no melodic value.

  • or perhaps you havent considered they have no rythmical value that your brain understands.

  • that's really not true.

the rythms, patterns and little grooves, are subtle and complex and quickly change

they've done something different, and their music paints a picture. kind of.. tells a story.

  • i dont care if hes good at bass its shit music

  • to correct youguys, its a warr guitar, not really a bass...

and its not that hard to play.

I have only played one 3 times, but if someone came up to me and told me to play something like this, i probably can.

  • i REALLY want to like this band. but i don't care for it. they are way too sloppy to be tech metal. if they can refine their style, then i'll dig it.

  • Sloppy? Lol.

  • the bassist needs to develope some techqnique

  • no, I think he would need to cut his fucking hair off. Looks retarded :O

  • Hey, both of you, play a 12 sting bass and then criticize the man.

  • I believe it's called a chapman stick.

But they are really difficult to play.

  • Very similar to a chapman stick, but its a Warr guitar.

  • yeah, that's true, he's skilled as hell, but I dont like the music, there is no flow or groove. :(

  • great drumer...not

  • and really this is the spirit of rock and roll

i'm sure when rockabilly and gospel and blue sand all that suddenly collided and made something new and weird, people had these same kinds of reactions

  • the faces that nearest dude is always making kill me

  • Great! I love this band. For those who posted bad comments about them : doing that, you demonstrate your musical ignorance. If you are not able to understand this music, just pass by.

  • The people that don't like them realize that they are not musically talented at all.

  • i didn't know it was about that....

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. suicide!!!!

  • this drummer is aaaaaaaages ahead of mike portnoy. god this band is good

  • I want to hammer a metronome into the brains of these two guys because they cant hold a fucking beat for shit.

  • dude

its supposed to be like that

you're not comprehending how complicated this is

  • youre not comprehending, while being simple as fuck, the necessity of keeping a fucking beat no matter how fucking complicated a song is. im that the guitarist wasnt supposed to always miss the 1th beat.

  • 1th? are you a fucking retard? 1st you jackass!! If your going to pretend know anything about anything you need to speak correctly! and this band is awesome!

  • well sorry for not speaking nglish as mother language

  • lol, you have no idea what your talking about.

  • This is horrible. It really has no aural value whatsoever. Sure it deviates from the conventional progressions and composition of songs, that doesn't mean that it's high quality. I have seen bands experiment and toss out "chorus, verse, bridge" format while actually making beautiful and powerful music (listen to Mogwai). This is technically impressive noise, not much else. You're entitled to your own opinions, but it just seems so pretentious.

  • Fuck this band. "technical" or "mathcore" does not mean that it's too complex to understand. Anyone who says that is an elitist asshole. They use terms like that as an excuse to play shitty, unlistenable noise like these confused asshats. Yeah, they have skill, but they don't apply it to compose SONGS. They just toss around random measures and time signatures and call it "technical".

  • haha, you play guitar hero. Your opinion is automatically invalid. Fuck off kid.

  • And while you rant and rave like some angst-ridden mongoloid on YouTube about BTA, others are listening to them and easily hearing the song which apparently is "unlistenable noise" to dolts who simply fail to see the charm in this music.

This is no different then why some claim Black Metal isn't talented or not real music; when in actuality it's more so music than anything else out there.

Just because it doesnt have a catchy repeatable hook doesnt mean its not a song.

    This isnt random at all.

  • I never really understood the whole "I'm gonna grow my hair out really long, than shave half my head" look.

  • me neither

but its a mohawk thats just not spiked

  • Technical skill =/= good. Usually the whole point of an instrument is to, idk, make music.

Please note--that would be music, not just noise.

  • EPIC!

  • This sounds like the simpsons theme tune, played by a blender

  • hahahahaha you´re fuckin right

  • The WORST band in the world with 'good' players

  • gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The people who are disbarraging this video really need to read up on chromatic & mixolydian scales

  • Chromatic scales are half-tone scales and as such contain all twelve tones. Mixolydian scales are major scales with a dominant 7th. I know this, and yet the music continues to suck.

  • You sir, just won. Congratulations.

  • No, it doesn't suck. You just don't like the music. Learn the difference between your opinion and the universal truth.

  • fuck. i love these guys, and i never realised they were just a 3 piece band. check out sensory amusia, or exospacial psionic aura.

it really is an acquired taste. dont get me wrong, i love songs with a melody and a sense of stability, but this shows how u can push the boundaries. no different to free jazz really. except that these songs are written. man i want to give up now...

  • wow, what a waste of some good technical abillity.

  • ...i dont know whats happenning here.

i like prog metal and technical stuff as much as the next dude...but...idk. to each his own.

hope these dudes find some loyal fans who know what the hell's going on lol.

  • um...........how are these guys famous any way?

  • How the hell does Colin Marston go about remembering how to play Skullgrid? Jesus!

  • How the hell does this whole band go about remembering how to play Skullgrid! or any other song they've made for that matter! Jesus!
