Mine doesn't do great, but it is better than 8mpg. Check the float height. What jets are you using? Also, make sure the carb is sitting straight in the boots. No matter what you do the gas mileage will seem horrible compared to your 4-stroke.

Thanks olds455man. Discovered a tear in the intake boot which probably explains a lot of weirdness lately. New part is on order & will hopefully improve things quite a bit.

It is really cool to see the comparison of the XR and KDX. I have a '91 KDX 250 also. It is an awesome trail bike. I really like the XR 250's too, but the KDX 250 is a powerhouse!
