@Garfield2011Odie Yes &thank God they were cos original & edgy ideas make great music.Today it's just-"I love you, you love me" crap & blatantly bad covers, courtesy of every piece of diabolical trash, from Pariah Carey, through c/rappers, X Crapter boybands & girlbands to fake rockers, wannabee r'n'bers (that musical genre died years ago, people!-use your ears). Chernobyl disaster happened in 1986 making the artists seers! Kim Wilde's 1986 hit 'Schoolgirl' & Sandra's "Don't Cry" came from it.

@WupWup68 An apt one aswell is the sadly little-known 'Don't Cry (The Breakup Of The World)' from German songstress Sandra, written in response to the awful Chernobyl diaster of 1986. Great song. And to Garfield2011Odie, you've nailed it correctly. I remember a young girl telling me in 1996 at our workplace that she found everything back then pretty bad-she said the 80s was full of people saying something. Songs SHOULD be stories set to music, not just sickly love-songs. Today-no nothing!
