I think that hunting for food is okay, but hunting for sport... that's another story. Taking lives just to have fun and satisfy some weird urge? That's just wrong. I feel the same about hunting for pelts, as the pelts have no real function other than being decor. I think that animals should only be shot for meat and self-defense - and if something is shot, it should be made into meat so that its life (and death) was not a waste.

That is why we always see the word "produce' "provide", "fawn crops" , "fawn recruits" because Wildlife Agencies goals is to have many targets for hunters each season preferably the antlered deer for small to compensate for their shortcomings.

Important note, as we cleared the land, planted grass and removed predators we upped the deer population to where they starve every winter in huge numbers, so we must cull them to restore the balance. That means hunting! Hunting is also a valuable skill you will wish you had if the grocery store where your dumb ass buys ground chuck is ever closed, empty or just plain gone one day. A good hunter kills clean and eats what he kills, those who dont are not hunters.
