(在るまい） is classical Japanese, feels more poetic and is a strong statement by itself, meaning something like "certainly not! don't you think?".
精一杯が全てで、自分らしく生きるなど考える.余裕も無い人達がいる。したたかに生きるしか在るまい is "Some people (we) don't have enough time to consider that there are those struggling with all their might to live like us. They have no choice but to live so harshly."
Thus why I get pissed when people post " soo cute!!! "
I've lost pretty much all the Japanese I used to know, so the lyrics are lost on me, but just the feel of this song. The music, and his voice... it's enough to give me goosebumps. Beautiful and powerful.
I'm always a little bit sad when the level of discourse on this band (and VK in general) is limited to how cute they are when this is probably one of the few and most powerful social commentary tracks they put out.
したたかに生きるしか在るまい is a really powerful thing to say, especially with the words/kanji they used.
