Having big eyes is in NO way a feature belonging ONLY to caucasian people. It's present in almost every other ethnicity; Indian, Middle Eastern, Black, etc. Thousands of years ago having big, clear eyes was a sign of health, and was therefore an attractive quality when searching for a mate - regardless of ethnicity. So when asians get double eyelid surgery, they don't get it to look more CAUCASIAN, they get it because its a trait that is considered beautiful in ALL ethnicities, cultures, etc.
fair skin is not a western thing, there are so many eastern asians with fair skin. It's like saying white people who go tanning want to be italian or latino or something.

Asians wanting to look paler is a cultural thing, just like Americans wanting to look darker is a cultural thing. Different conceptions of beauty exist in different areas of the world. At least Asians aren't purposely frying their skin/prematurely aging because of their beauty standard.

H.O it has been shown through studies that the sun is an direct cuase of visible again (freckles, sun spots, wrinkles, etc). I guess in Asia, women seem to care to be fair skinned (in this case looks healthy or seems you take care of your body).
I also think pale, flawless skin is also associated with looking 'clean' and well taken care of. Most Chinese people have fair skin, but for some people the yellow undertone is so strong that the skin can look very dull.
