  • is it a fender stratocaster

  • bravo, veramente

  • Great Job :-)

  • Perfect vibratos man!

  • I'm impressed man! Great work!

  • Really good! checkout mine!

  • Shine on and rock on friend.

  • Just listened to the whole thing. Thanks man. That was very cool.

  • not bad, there are same mistakes, but your sound is very great!

  • Awsome mate!

  • slightly to fast

  • @razzamanaz79 ..what?

    also, that's what she said.

  • the best!

  • 2:40 - 3:10 sounds just like the actual recording! Nice!

  • and he plays standing!!!

  • J'aimerais ça jouer de la guitar de même!

  • can you tell me where did you get the tab for this?

  • that use distortion in the third solo?

  • @kevinmateo96 Felt generous and checked my old PodXT Live tonight - apparently I only used more drive on the amp on that patch :)

  • Some mistakes but, you know, you're really awsome ;)

  • nice guitar too bad for you its not a fullerton strat

  • I have a question. What are the effects you used to record this track?

  • @35Bajbus Just some compression - other than that it's hardly anything besides maybe a tad of modulation and some drive, either from amp or from a drive pedal (like a Tube Driver)

  • What effects are you using?

  • i like your bends and feel dude.. its pretty sweet!

  • funny....the album was played with a lp and your playing and tone sound like a carbon copy...awesome job

  • You're a gifted and talented person :P

  • I guess you have enjoyed playing this a lot! I did!!!

    Fantaaaastic job!!

  • Love it! thanks and gratz man! you really understand the floydian soul.

  • Superb simply superb wish you were here..... One of the best albums ever

  • very good man!

  • That was excellent. Only Gilmour could beat that.

  • Perhaps the best effort and best Shine On video on youtube!! GREAT WORK!

  • I asked it many tiems but you never answered XD

what is your guitar exactly? :) there's no candy apple red 57 strat since the 80's, excepted the hot rod 57... is it a hot rod? :)

  • @mouloudo Really? Sorry about that :) It's a chrome red American 2004 strat with a vintage '57 neck and bridge! Fitted with the EMG DG20's :)

  • @Septimius ok thank you very much for replying ^^ can I ask you were you found the neck? I just bought a 57 reissue from 1986 but I have a hard time finding a 57 neck

  • @mouloudo A tad late, but it's a reissue. From any year will do, it's the radius and feel of the neck that you want. Of course an original '57 might be better, but it's probably about ten times more expensive ;)

  • @Septimius got a 1996 57 ri neck on my19 86 57 ri body now ;D

  • @mouloudo your forgeting the EJ strat and the american 57 reissue, both come in CAR

  • @150peacemaker dont know of wich american reissue you're talking about but the candy apple red was abandonned 15 years ago for 57 reissues ^^ the hot rod 57 comes in CAR though but has a hot rail and a different neck than " original" 57's :)

  • your strat sounds awesome. are those original pickups?

  • I don't go into details, but I think the cover part needs some improvement. timing, tuning, concept, sound, it's all just not it. But the improvisation part is awsome!!!!

Your much better as yourself :-)

Try to get this emotion into the cover part as well!

  • like your sound would like to see more tremolo use though

  • like your sound

  • Dude it's Awesome!!!!! You need to Upload the tabs please, dont disappoint by saying you dont have..:).This is the best solo I have seen!! Very Nicio!!

  • sends shivers down my spine - terrific!

  • badass u should do a step by step noob tutorial for this

  • terrific - wonder how long this all took to learn?!

  • I like your interpretation......would be boring to hear you reproduce Dave's exact notes...can buy that.

  • Pretty cool! You've made a lot of mistakes but I love the thing, that the most of your bends are in pitch. It's rare here on YouTube :)

  • 3'20" :S Very good :)

  • best cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best cover ever!

  • inspired me to learn this song. i like the pinch harmonics you thre in there...sounds freakin great! beautiful guitar too......im tryin to get one of those, well not a 57 but a 90's or early '00s strat

  • great job m8!!! I Like it... !!!FANTASTIC!!!

  • @brainfreeze2000, David Waters?? sorry 2 correct you, but they're names are David Gilmour (Guitar & Vocals) Roger Waters (Bass & Vocals). -Pink Floyd Fan.

  • Loved it man, awesome!

  • Nice you have to be the the only person on here that keeps posting this track and has got in for the most art right. I play this song live on a very regular basis and its good to hear you not using any overdrive or dist on the intro.. that drives me nuts lol.

However I do the album version for the most part as we play the album wish you were here from start to fin. I tell you thats a hell of a lot of fun.. best bit is the slide solo in part six :-)

    eace and keep on floyding.

  • The main thing with floyd is just be faithful to it you do not have to lay it 100% the same so do not listen to those who tell you that such and sch a bend was don such a way.. just feel it and play it. The works best live if you ever get the chance to play it live.

  • Soz if some words look funny I have a few stick keys on my laptop and no chance to sort it till I get home from tour

  • spot on. great hands, kid

  • David Gilmour is proud of you!

  • What are the settings on your POD XT to get that fantastic sound? I have a Zoom G7.1ut.

  • This is awesome! You should download the backing track from lick library. Email me on here privately if u want it. I have 50+ PF and Gilmour backing tracks. 2 versions of Shine On, album and PULSE versions of Comfortably Numb, A Great Day for Freedom, Breathe, On a Island...

  • You're awesome...I can't believe it... *-*

  • you're ridiculously talented

  • @nendokan hes playing in the correct key...idk wtf ur talkin about

  • @nendokan Sadly no ones gives a fuck about your guitar AND he played the song perfectly.

    Nice try tho!

  • minted m8.keep it up

  • Nice job man! How long did it take you to learn this entire song on guitar?

  • am just starting out to try learn the solo, but thanks for posting was a good effort and if you played it live in front of peeps am sure you would recieve a huge applause so well done

  • mad !

  • @nendokan no his notes are in the right key. maybe when he improves is when you think he is hittinbg the wrong notes.

  • cool solo i like the vibrato

  • @musixtacion Thanks :)

  • thanks man....that really took me back.....

  • Nice job--I thought it was great.

  • Awesome solo....keep it up man! :D!

  • upload the patch you used for this if you can :)

  • Good job, man!! Very good. Improvisation and feeling. Congratulations!

  • ha ha LOVED the atari shirt, nice touch, bro.....put me in a real nostalgia mood, perfect for this song.......great playing, my man, you rock!!

  • need a bit more reverb

  • Sweet cover man! Keep up the good work, maybe someday I will be able to play this well.

  • WOuld be awesome with dome delay and leslie sim.

  • fucking nice tone man

  • Hi.....

The gilmour parts are nice......good sound & feeling....

but there's a lot of false or very imprecise notes in your improv...

    continue to work your scales

  • nendokan in on high, u r playing dmn on G minor, may b he tunes his guitar in a differnt way

  • @nendokan I hear no major scale. My hair is a bird; your argument is invalid.

  • you ROCK. Keep it up bro!

  • This is fantastic. Nice work, man.

  • Something wrong? Depends the poit of view... Some classics songs have some parts that the player can't change, but can do in your own way, (by himself). And Septimius do that. Everybody who knows this song will identify immediately, so it's not wrong... its like a version. Good play, man. And good replies for those who said you're wrong! Sorry about my poor english! I hope you understand...

  • Atari! lol

Anyway, really good cover. How you get this sound quality?

And those pickups, it's EMG Active pickups?

  • Despite all the bullshit comments I think you did Great. Especially when you consider it was basically a ten minute solo! It was good enouigh, I listened to the whole thing twice now......

  • Despite all the bullshit comments, I think you did great when considering it was basically a ten minute solo! Cheers.......

  • in the 1980s we would cruise along drinking in this old car, driving for hours and hours getting drunker and drunker listening to this and other tracks -on a car audio cassette player

  • Great Job! I have been playing Bass and Guitar for at least 20 years. One will never "note for note" replicate any other guitar solo or riff. This was a nice cover, showing that you are in fact talented. From my house all I heard was one or two sour notes.

  • Congratulations, Boy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Veery nice cover dude!

It sounded very good! few bend mistakes...

    else... perfect solos! good feeling

    by the way... beaultiful guitar!

    what are those pickups?

sorry for bad english, i'm from Brazil

  • @nendokan you obviously have no idea what ur talking about...do you know what octaves are?

  • Cracking job, dont listen to those A holes. Nendokan tune up your guitar he is playing in the correct key. Not a bad effort. it was great and you can stick your Fender 52 reissue look what I have, which you can't even spell correctly, Feneder?

Good job septimus and thanks for that. Post one up of you Nendoken of you playing it.

  • great great great ... nothing more to say about this ...

  • Despite some flaws you did entertain me with did video. You're a skillfull player.

    Greetingzzz

    Rob

  • @nendokan im positive he is playing on the correct scale and notes. this is how i play it as well btw.

  • SLT je travaille ce morceau également et je suis très impresionné par ton travail bravo !. pour ma part sur la part 1 je mets un peu plus de reverb pour le coté planant.

Je vais te piquer des idéees car ton jeu est top !!!!

    to be continued lol lol

  • Very, very nice. It hard to get all positive reviews on YouTube. Congrats!

  • Played very well.

    Keep it going

  • how do you fit all that in your brain? Awesome!

  • very nice job, thank you.

  • very good job man

  • Very nice and what makes it even better..You are young and listening to classics instead of Lil Wayne! Nice job

  • This is amazing I mean I don't watch youtube videos cause of low internet bandwidth but I had to Watch the whole video. This is my favorite song. I'm a beginner guitar player (Self taught for 3 years) This is really the only song I really wanna learn now. your improvs were amazing.

  • Very Excellent Sir, Very Good Improvising Too! A+

  • The fact that you can play this at all is worthy of congratulations. It must really make you happy to have this gift.

This is a really enjoyable listen. Best regards.

  • good very good +++++

  • great job. fucking totally awsome bro

  • thanks a lot! I still love getting comments like this. Brightens my day :)

  • not bad but there are quite a few bends you r doing incorrectly. and they are all done the same way. first i noticed on the 3rd note from the start when u pick that bend you should prebend the note up from 18th fret to 20th fret before you pick string. it will give u a more exact sound as gilmour does. dont pick then bend that 3rd note. as well as other places that should b done. but great start. love the song and yes never boring. the spaces inbetween notes is what gives it its uniquenes

  • This is a slight hybrid between the studio version and PULSE, and I'm sure you know PULSE well enough to know he doesn't do that there :) It's also not about perfectly replicating the solo, but just letting the solo happen. This is how the solo happened ;)

  • @Septimius well said. if we try to always sound exact, it takes away from what we feel at the time and puts us in robot mode, but you did nail the Gilmore feel. I don't think anyone who was to see Gilmore play this solo just like you did, would be disappointed. I enjoyed it. I have been a life long fan.

  • David Waters rules

  • Yeah, if you combined David Gilmour and Roger Waters into one person he would be pretty cool.

  • @brainfreeze2000 David Gilmour and Roger Waters are two different people man.

  • @brainfreeze2000 ive neer heard of a pink floyd member called david waters.......there is david gilmour and roger waters.....lol.......im just messing with u......

  • the improv needs to go man, no offense. But that song could never be boring.

  • the solo was pretty good and im sure the tone is good in real life but the camera mic fucked it up a lil, also good idea for putting up the backingtracks site

  • A few mistakes but it's a very though tune to play its very hard to get the good phrasing and feeling and you got it. Good job but you can still improve it, but noone can sound like Gilmour after all. And nice sound too :)

  • Awesome! Congrats.

  • I hope to became such a good guitarist...

  • thanks :) comments like that always brighten my day!

  • you deserve them ;)

  • I agree....:)

  • was the extended solo improv? that is a pimp guitar.

  • yup, improv!

  • a little bit of reverb and you are Gilmour :D!

  • Well done man, that was awesome, spot on

  • Comment removed

  • Hi there ! Nice work !

Have you got a tab for this song ? If yes could you share please ? thanks

    Keep rockin'

  • For me too please....

  • I dig it.

  • your sound on the last part especially is just gorgeous, what year is that 57's from? :)

  • know it sounds stupid but I 've listened to your improvisation a hundre time, I absolutely love it, I'm trying to reproduce it and to play it my own way, and you're tone on the impro is just dead on, now I'm thinkin about buying a '57 cause I have a 50's series mexican strat with EMG's and a LOT of pedals that David had on the pulse tour, but I just cant have the sound you have here

  • amasing that you can remeber this your raly good on this !! :)

  • atari logo lol

  • Brilhante!

  • Sounds great man. Only if you'd play this live you'd better stick to the original. But I understand why you chose not to here

  • Have to agree with JustCharlie, a very decent effort with some nice touches of you own. Well done.

  • incredible job

  • In my opinion you should try to pick the notes just like Guilmour do, but the sound is very near to his, so great job man! 5/5

  • u do the song justice.

  • amazing im learning to play guitair. i wanna learn this song first. i wish i was like u rock u play really great

  • I agree with you info. pushing the sound from your amp or whatever you are hooked to, through your computers speakers does ruin the quality. Although minus that it sounds awsome. i've been only playing guitar for about a year and i strive to play like that!

    Kudos

    -T Wally T

  • Actually, it's windows movie maker that ruined the quality :) Next video will have a high quality audio layer, so it should be sweet.

  • *couch**cough* IMOVIE!!!!!*cough*cough*

  • Please post in English.

  • (Ma non eri italiano?! 0_o..porco cane, devo essermi confuso con qualche altro commento precedente allora.. -.-).

In the first solo there isn't any delay/reverb,too much poor the sound, but the execution is nice..

Howewer,i prefer the first solo:in the second one,you play pickin' each note without legato technique(just like the real "Gilmour Style"..) (example: 3:36 to 3:38).

But may it can't be important for you.. :-P

By the way, repeat:very compliments...for the very similar Gilmour sound..

  • excelent rendition , mistakes or not , if we didn't make mistakes we would never improve , really well done !! how long have you been playing ? keep up the good work

  • this is a 10 minutes i wish i learned. Nice work!

  • you did a damn fine job!

  • Sweet finger vibrato on the bends. You really have that down.

  • When you are improvising you sound better than when you are covering the solo!

  • yes, eventhough david doesnt use reverb because he gets it naturaly in the venue, its just when u play at home you would really add some reverb urself cause it can leave ur sound sounding very dry.but still, nice playing, very good!

  • " F WOW"

  • Good xD..where did you download the base track??

  • great tone, but dude, I'm 14 years old and can do it better, u fucked some notes but in youtube don't have a better cover of this solo.

  • Haha. Ok. Show me.

  • ok, in 1 week i think I'll put the vid on youtube, btw, u played the solo well but in some parts u miss some notes...
