Aer Lingus is one of the oldest and most experinced airlines in the world with one of the youngest fleets of aircraft ! Those who dont know their facts should fly with the likes of ryanair which they are obviously suited to !
Good video with nice music. I wish people would stop dishing Ryanair in their comment though. The video has nothing to do with Ryanair. Take it for what it is and take Ryanair for what it is too. I'm more than happy to put up with a slightly more uncomfortable seat and less care for a half hour flight to the UK and all for €16. Com'on! Sorry, getting side tracked. Again, nice video
@flysully if you go on their website they outline ALL charges i no everybody takes the pisss but they are he cheapest, biggest an dmost succesful in the world
Belfast International was the final choice with 10 new routes and earlier this year Aer Lingus opened a new base at London Gatwick with 7 new routes followed by more expansion with a further 6 routes added for the winter schedule.
i think they need a rapid exspansion and an older airline should have priority also it should be bigger than ryan air bcause its older and they shud have more aircraft and make a subsidery company like airscot to increse more profit and get ryan air to invest in that 1
Next time your flying aer lingus look out for Sinead Mulvey !! Shes cabin crew with them and will be reresnting Ireland in the eurovision song contest!!!
Wow! nearly 25,000 views that's impressive! Well done on this video. On the belfast loads . . . my brother flies in and out quite often on the LHR route and he says it's always packed to capacity. I've flown Paris, Amsterdam & Rome from BFS and the flights have always been very busy. Hope it's a good year for them in '09.
I think the only two things that are keeping Aer Lingus alive at the moment are the Belfast base and the Gatwick base. Shannon has always made a loss, Dublin is losing out to Ryanair because of the recession and Cork just about scrapes the barrel, whilst long haul is a disaster at the moment
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
response to derryguy912 how can you say an irish airlines succes is based at british airports dublin airport is where its al started and routes are doin very well only traslantic routes are been affected cos the yanks are not spendin ther money you fucking moran they wer carryin more ppl on ther shannon to heathrow route than they wer on the belfast route so get your facts right and ryanair COMPLETE IRISH SUCCES STORY europes NUMBER 1 airline
Aer Lingus are doing much better at Belfast. It started off badly with poor loads but there were some changes and the new routes added have been doing well. I still think there are a few weak routes but overall it's been good. They are well on the way to making their 250,000th booking which is in line with expectations.
At ABN2808: It's not an evacuation, looks like one but they just have the stairs up to the doors and all of the doors open to let some fresh air inbetween flights. It's on airteamimages . com if you want to have a look.
Easy to prefer Ryanair, cheaper, more frequent and more airports. Aer Lingus still stuck with a notion of being the national airline! And I don't work for any airline - I'm one of those who pays for it!
Ive flown with these twice, BHX - DUB then DUB - BHX, Best airline ive ever flown with, Brilliant customer care, There A320's Where extremly clean, They were on time. And you felt welcome with them.
What year was it? Aer Lingus got rid of all their 737-400s and -500s in 2005 and have never operated the 737-800. Only Ryanair operates 737-800s in Ireland. Aer Lingus have a 32 strong fleet of A320s and A321s plus 9 A330s with 6 more on order and another 6 A350XWBs on order.
ohhhh sory i was suposed to press "reply"!but it was 2005.I taught about it last night and because Cork aiport has a small runway they need small commericial planes. There are 2 runways but 1 is smaller than the other runway 2 can just fit in a 737 maybe?
So it is. Belfast would have offered a better deal and the brand is better known in Northern Ireland than it is in Birmingham but this is just the start of new bases, Birmingham is probably still of interest to Aer Lingus.
interesting idea about our national airline should have an additional UK hub - this would allow for expansion of its European operations but could allow other routes to be introduced such as to the Middle East and the Far East - I am Irish from Dublin and moved to Manchester in 2003, and although Manchester is a main hub for several airlines, Birmingham could work as a UK hub because it has less aircraft movements than Manchester or any of the London Airports
Hopefully next time you get upgraded into Premier Class you will get the new lie flat seats unless you have already had the chance fly them. From what I have seen and heard they are very comfortable!
The one thing I have noticed about Aer Lingus is that there's no consistency when it comes to cabin crews. Some are reported as excellent, others just terrible. This is a problem they really need to address but are evidently reluctant to do so because it might cause problems with their militant unions. Airlines are no different than any other company, if they want to retain clients, then they have to beat the competition, and if not in cost, then it damned well be better in service.
yeah! the air-hostesses and aircrafts are getting on! I'm tired of the old hags too! Last year one air-hostess was really ignorant/really old! She did'nt ask if you would like tea or coffee! she just threw a cup at you and said "tea coffee" by the time i said coffee she was 4 rows behind me!! Old hag! hope she's not on my next flight to malaga on the 24th!! Please god no!
And while I'm on a rant, when they sell those old A330's off, send those snippy old geriatric crews with them and get some younger lady flight attendants. I'm sick of looking at those old hags. Oh and have the flight leave on time and provide decent food too. Rant over, I feel a bit better now.
Those old A330s will leave from 2009 when the new ones start to arrive. Regarding the older crews, Aer Lingus has just finished it's plan to hire more cabin crew to work on the new two new A330s and smaller A320s. Aer Lingus hire more when the start of their biggest expansion starts in the next few years.
Sadly the Airbus A330-300 aircraft used on that route are very early models and cannot have PTV's however a recent large order from Aer Lingus included 6 new A330-300E aircraft whcih will replace the older aircraft from 2009 onwards.
about time we had nonstop flights with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Karachi & Islamabad, Pakistan & vice versa with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), as Ireland & Pakistan have a lot in common - I am Irish (Dublin & Meath) but have a lot of Pakistani friends here in Manchester, UK!!
If your lfying in july u may well get the new A330-300 you have a 1 in 5 chance! I'm no so sure that using a video causes interference, many people use them anyway lots of videos here that show takeoffs from inside planes.
Those aircraft have arrived and have a very nice cabin, with new PTVs that were designed for the Airbus A380 "super-jumbo" and very nice seats. The new UK base will be for short-haul first. 12 new long-haul aircraft have been ordered from airbus, 6 A330Es and 6 A350XWBs which will start arriving from 2009.
yes i have a link to a picture of EI-DUO's economy class. It's no longer very "Irish" but with 12% more space and the most modern IFE system at the moment I dont think people will mind.
Thanks, The interior looks pretty good. Is that the new A330-200 that just went into service? and is the A330-300 going to have the same interior do you know?
Glad you liked the photo! Both aircraft (EI-DUO and EI-DUZ) are in service and both have the same seats. From now on all new A330s Aer Lingus get will have this interior including the 6 new A330s they ordered recently.
Great video!! Love flying wit aer lingus! This year i'm goin on an a330 to malaga, can't wait! Have you flown wit aer lingus before??? Love th irish breakfast, yum yum....!!
I fly Aer Lingus about once a month! Been on the A330s quite a bit the new one is looking very good with new seats and lie flat premier seats. You might get lucky on the way Malaga and get a new A330. The Irish breakfast is a favorite of mine and the panini!
AerLingus is never going to be BA, or Singapore Airlines. However, they are a great airline. The fact they share a base with Ryanair, in what is a relatively small country, is testament to their brilliance! AerLingus crew are fantastic, and they're low fares and good onboard service are great! I look forward to their improvements in their long-haul network, which will position them as an even better airline!
