  • I played a few 1v1 against Billox back in the day. I was none too shabby as I had my own private ISDN line but Billox would own me every time. Own and leave bruises. Awsome, awsone player.

The exhibition against Thresh did him no justice at all.

  • bet

  • Must watch for Q2 fans... the tactics of Thresh constantly hitting bellox at the rocket launcher and railgun spawn points along with his high ground and chaingun play to give damage against bellox while bellox would miss his shots with the rockets/railgun. The understanding and prediction of both players was astounding, though Thresh seemed more prepared to attack at item points and use items less common as they are less gaurded: while picking up drops of better weapons from bellox. Well played.

  • I like the editing. The way you timed the clips so they would go along with the music was classy.

  • Yeah, anybody knows what remix of hall of the mountain king this is?

  • lol, -1. Thanks for the piece of gaming history :p

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH @ the song XD

  • whats up with this 3rd person view???

  • Dude 3rd person views sucks for FPS game videos. We want to see the game from the perspective we play from. Why ever make a 3rd person video? Sucks...

  • I understand how you feel (even if I don't entirely agree)... but in this case, the first person demo was broken beyond repair (believe me I and others tried, but the data just wasn't there) so the choices were 3rd person or nothing.

  • @zsOverman There are maybe 2 real demos of thresh out there. He didn't release demos because he was afraid of tarnishing his unbeatable image.

  • @JayDay111 I've got a handful which were from tournament play (like this one) , all but this one were Quake1. The Q1 ones do have first person for at least part of the match. But you're right, there aren't many at all. I think I have four total.

  • @jmvasquez

Because the demo itself didnt show POV, its a keygripped "demo".

  • I hated how secretive thresh was. He was so afraid of losing that mysterious god status.

  • man billbox was top player and thresh made him look ordinary, what is thresh doing now?

  • sold xfire and started a new company.

  • lol xfire was from him Oo ?

  • Well hm, I thought he did but wikipedia says he wasn't a cofounder. He definitely was one of the main guys there. Now he owns Raptr. He's a gogetter I guess lolz.

  • Thresh gave up quake to play pokemon, I kid you not

  • how sad

  • This vid makes me realize exactly how terrible I am at Quake II, but I only just recently started playing it online. Better late than never I guess.

  • god I miss quake2

wish ppl in uk still played quake2 rocket arena any1 wanna start a ukra2l again just msg me :)

  • people do play.

  • not ra2 they dont :(

if so show me the server :))

  • I remember this! i was clanned with billox at that time (rsc) how he won quakedelica was beyond me... many many better UK players at that time. He won an Athlon PC, also part of the prize was to play thresh.

  • nicely made movie!

  • wow this was a long time ago, when i was playing duke 3d on wireplay, i remeber this match, but never been able to see it upto now

  • What HUD or Engine is he using in this video?

  • Quake ftw!

  • I laughed out loud during the last few seconds where Billox killed himself.

But this video makes me wanna play some Quake 2.

  • this replay is trash come on wanna see some gameplay

  • oh by the way, I own your megahealths.

    *enemy @ Upper RL!*

    gg

  • oh my god some of ur names look familiar haha.

    -H3ctor

  • Haha, I still have the demo of this, I was a huge fan of Q2 at the time (if you ever played Jailbreak, I made some of the maps for that mod!). Billox wasn't exactly a bad player, but Thresh was so much better it was scary. A lesson in how to comletely dominate your opponent!

  • q2ctf = best game ever

  • word

  • It was after Thresh fully dominated Quake and Quake 2 that John Carmack famously decided to make Quake 3 easier, so any shmuck could get a frag. And that's been the trend ever since. Which is nice for n00bs. But old school was meaner...and a helluva lot more fun. :-)

  • Wow, ignorance on Youtube just got worse.

  • You should try reading the video descriptions, retard.

  • Quake1 no mods only. The other Quakes and any mods within can blow goats. Ah the great old days. Wish there was still an active Quake1 server with no mods.

  • back in the day noone would beat thresh. Today gaming has evolved and computers are faster = more frame rates to q2 so you cannot campare the way fatility plays today compared to how thresh played then..and just so you know billox was't just some crap opponent he won a wireplay(i belive) tournemnt and the prize was to play against thresh

  • That's right, WangTeSung; Billox won the Quakedelica tournament that year in the UK, and this was the exhibition match that followed.

  • Dude thresh would still destroy anybody at quake. I but you we could smoke anybody playing on a modern computer with a pentium 1

  • I have to disagree.. Thresh wouldn't easily win against most of the current top quake2 players (purri, damiah, etc). I'm sure if he practiced to get back to his level he might be able to take a couple wins here and there though... maybe :)

  • You can't compare games because today's games have higher frame rates? What are you, a retard?

  • @WangTeSung

Billox won an online FFA tournament, on wireplay's private servers. For whatever reason none of the top UK players entered. Billox wasn't a bad player, but duelling on q2dm1 he was very average.

  • ah, the days of Quake II. Quake 3 kill the Q2 community...punks...but there are still some euro & Uk players around....just hard to find!

IRC b0rk dot uk dot quakenet dot org:6667

  • My god, thresh is good.Too good

  • pwnanza... except descent still owns the shit out of quack.

  • i know you worked really hard on this, which is great, but this bored the hell outta me. *yawn*

  • Threewave CTF on Qyake 2 is still the gold standard in CTF.

    ahhh- grapplehook.

  • hehheh where there is two human beings competing on a level playing feild the comprtition will harder and harder. you can always one up somone else which is why computer games especialy works of art as far as game physics go like the quake series are just as hard to win at as games like football. people train for this stuff and there is big prise money and presteige to be won. you best beleive it.

  • lol Pwnd.

  • ahh i remember this game well.. capture the flag.lol red blue and i'm only 20.. wish quake was still around

  • haha, wow. homie got his ass beat

  • lol, what game is that.. if it is a game?

  • Quake 2 by id Software.

  • OK Thx for that

  • O_o

    ...oh my...

  • Hahahaha nice. XD

  • lol gamer celebs... thats funny

  • who the hell is Thresh this is my first time ever hearing of him

  • me too... i thought the worlds most famous gamer was Fatal1ty!

  • Good point. I'll update the description.

  • Thresh works for Xfire now, he's a nice guy.

  • I feel kinda bad for that Billox fellow. Yikes.

  • lol what a way to end the video...negative 1 hahaha

  • lol i lioke the song

    nice vid

    ooh whats the song's name?

    and the original version too

    please tell me :P

  • the name is "in the hall of the mountain king", says so in the beginning.

  • lol thanks :D

do you know who composed it :P

    ill look for it thanks

  • "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg

From Peer Gynt Suite #1. Sounds even better with an orchestra, IMHO.

  • haha i know

  • damn thats classical music x_X

its called "in the hall of the mountain king"

  • i knwo lol

  • hha!! half way through the video i noticed the numbers in the corner all in psync with the music lmao.

  • LOL never saw this mod before, makes the rockets look like redeemers from UT

  • Nice vid...just if we had 2 recordings...one for each player. Still nice though, and old school.

  • Cuz Thresh is like 35 right now and hes retired, thats why he dont play anymore.

And Thresh and Fatal1ty would be a good match but I think in the end Thresh would win. Wendels got good adaption to the maps and games but Thresh is just oldschool Deathrow pwnage.

  • Actually, he's around 28/29 years old (he was born on 1977)

  • thresh was shit.

    dm is rorted.

  • I played against Fatal1ty during q2 times a while back. He was ok but again nothing special. There were much better "unknown" players such as Nattas, Fury, and man others who never got the credit...but then again who wants to know that eh? EH!?!?!

  • Yea but it's all about consistency. And tournament play is much different than pubs...more pressure. And if you can play at a high level in that environment, then that's what sets you apart

  • Thresh would mop up Fatal1ty.

  • Nothing special...in my time I saw many gamers but none were better then I :)

  • nice to see people still have an archive of thresh's matches
